Bro when i was eleven or so my parents took me to her concert and somehow were able to get to the front of the crowd , right where she was standing. She shook my hand and and even gave me a high five!! While still singing!!!!! Then the drummer gave me his drum stick! She was my idol at the time so it REALLY made me happy!
I'm still sad that Delain is literally an entire new band, but I'm trying now that I've gone through a mourning period, to except it. I love love love Charlotte. She has the most unique voice and made Delain stand out from other female lead bands of the same genre.
You're completely ignoring the original drummer who is back, the guitar player of April Rain who is back, the main songwriter of the band, the keyboard player who is the main engine of this band. So its not an entire new band at al. Besides that you're only focussing on the voice. A band is so much more than the voice. The music of this band made the band stand out.

This will always be the best version of Delain IMHO. I will never forget the times I got to see them live. It was a real treat and Charlotte is an absolutely amazing human being.
So, I'm a long-time music fan in my 50s. I've seen a ton of bands in my day, and I have now seen Delain live 3X. I have three things to say about them: 1) Charlotte Wessels is an incredible performer. 2) Timo Somers is a virtuoso guitar player, and an absolute master of his craft. He is very understated in the band which shows his class. I think he is up there with some of the best in the world. 3) This is the best band on the planet eight now.

Iam 42 and I slipped 3 disk in my back and herniated 1 in 06.i was in so much pain .I was on Percocet 10s,soma and diazpan .it got worse over the years that I tried to kill myself and my sis saved my life.I went 17 days without sleep.i was really depressed badly because I couldnt do the things I wanted.so I started to listen to symphonic metal and nightwish,delain and it gave me freedom in my mind.its hard to explain until you go through chronic pain.like you i fell head over heels over charlottes voice and beauty.i truly love martijn because he went through hell and back like me but hes won his battle with mono and iam happy.plus when I did a meet and with them my first time like you I went from n.c to florida hob outside of Disney.the meet and greet was for kamelot and I gave Thomas youngblood 200$ to tell martijn I wanted to talk to him and tell him I wanted to meet them.at the end of the show they signed a few autos and sat at my fams table.because of my health I need to be pushed in a wheelchair.they sat down and autographed my stuff.i told charlotte I loved her and I was so scared but she hugged me.i asked martijn about his health because I love the fact he never gave up.he said after he got sick he was really tired and he was asked by Robert his brother to think about quiting and martijn took it he was fired,he said he couldn't stand him or Sharon eventhough they see one another.ive seen them in meet and greets 8 times and you are not wasting your time by loving them because they are great people but I do miss rod vander lou but hes with epica.if you haven't met them I hope you get the chance.thy sign on the outside at times but because they don't headline you cant buy a meet and greet in the states anyway.god bless and I know my writing sucks.

I appreciate that Delain is still going and the new singer is great. That being said Charlotte is my favorite female metal singer of all time and this is the Delain that really moves me. Glad they got so much material with her before the departure.

I was lucky enough to catch them opening for Nightwish here in Vegas. They were amazing. I love the female-fronted metal bands, and Delain is one of my favorites.
A lot of people complain about this, but I actually absolutely love how Delain (and Within Temptation too) has worked pop and electronic elements into metal. Plus, the bass and Charlotte's vocals are always on point! This song sounds sooooooooooooooooo great, and man, do I have a major girl crush on Charlotte and Merel! BRING ME THE EP
I agree. I think it also helps draw more fans who usually listen to pop or electronic music get into metal. I also like how most of their songs make you want to sing along.

I've seen Delain live 3 times as warm up bands for Nightwish (my die hard favorite band). The first time I saw them I was highly disappointed, the 2nd time was kinda whatever... In March of this year I saw them a 3rd time and was amazed! I planned to just kinda snooze through their performance since I had been up since 4am and had hardly any energy, but some how Charlotte got up there and energized me and the music was so amazing. This song was first, followed by Get the Devil Out of Me (my favorite at the time) and well, so much for the plan of snoozing, I was totally into it and hooked!! Delain was so impressive that night that despite Nightwish putting on the best show I'd seen live, I have even more memories from Delain. Normally after the show I go outside and hope to meet up with Marco, Tuomas or Floor (usually successfully), instead I stayed inside and found Charlotte. She was amazingly sweet and courteous, and I loved spending a few minutes talking to her. The picture I have with her (I have one with Merel too), is one of my favorites ever! I sent Charlotte a kind message the next day thanking her for a wonderful performance, and she wrote back! This band completely won me over after I initially thought they sucked, and now I love them!! I cannot wait to see them next year, I just hope Charlotte remembers the American from the previous year that spoke to her in Dutch! :)
I have been at their first gig in Zwolle, what was more like a tryout set. They did great despite the soundsetup being at mediocre at best, I could see the potential and she was quite young back then 10+ years ago, and a bit overwhelmed the 100 or so people in the crowd went apeshit after it. I talked a bit with her and she was such a nice person. I really am so happy they grew to be the band they are now and up there with the best.
I found them fairly recently, I had just gotten out of military school a year ago and saw them in my recommendations. I thought "female metal singer? Huh..." and it opened up a new world for me. Could never get into Nightwish but man I love Delain and Unleash The Archers.

Really looking forward to this album, Delain. Charlotte is just wicked great as always. The band is in fine form. Love the guitar, want to hear Timo rip longer solo's and voicings. Ready for the repeat US Tour. You deserve all headline gigs. Sound as an opener last time was muddy and Charlotte was faded. She should be way forward, cleaner band, lots of clarity on guitar, etc. I know it gets way better when you aren't opening. Any time you're in town, I'll be there.

Wow. Such randomly rude comments in response to a compliment of the band. As already pointed out, "guys" is a generalized term for a group of people of varying size. It's similar to "folks," "people," "y'all," or something else along those lines. It's usually considered to be gender neutral in English and is informal. Is it 100% politically correct if women happen to be in the group? Probably not. Some people take offense to its usage, which I personally find completely ridiculous. There aren't really many English words or phrases that aren't region specific that are completely gender agnostic. Therefore, "guys" is often used when referring to any group of people regardless of gender.
Delain was my introduction to the symphonic metal genre, and they continue to be my favorite band to this day. Really looking forward to Lunar Prelude, and even more so to the new album later this year.
I never knew who Delain was until I saw them live last year touring with Nightwish and they were so good now all I listen to is Nightwish and Delain lol.

Musically, this is an amazing song and it's so nice to have Merel on board as a permanent member! She really adds a nice touch to the band's sound! However, lyrically, the song is kind of weak. I know that this is just an EP they're putting out but I genuinely feel like Charlotte just hit a wall with this one. This is the same woman who wrote beautifully mesmerizing lyrics like 'Lullaby' and 'Come Closer' as well as thought-provoking lyrics like 'Tell Me Mechanist' and 'Tragedy Of The Commons'. The lyrics here just sound a little bit lazy to be honest(this is coming from a hardcore Delain fan, just to be clear).
Really dude nothing they've done has been as good as the lucidity album. even more I don't understand why Charlotte started singing so nasally on the last few albums like in stardust especially when she's jazz trained and so capable which she displayed with sleepwalkers dream

Really looking forward to this album, Delain. Charlotte is just wicked great as always. The band is in fine form. Love the guitar, want to hear Timo rip longer solo's and voicings. Ready for the repeat US Tour. You deserve all headline gigs. Sound as an opener last time was muddy and Charlotte was faded. She should be way forward, cleaner band, lots of clarity on guitar, etc. I know it gets way better when you aren't opening. Any time you're in town, I'll be there.

Wow. Such randomly rude comments in response to a compliment of the band. As already pointed out, "guys" is a generalized term for a group of people of varying size. It's similar to "folks," "people," "y'all," or something else along those lines. It's usually considered to be gender neutral in English and is informal.
Is it 100% politically correct if women happen to be in the group? Probably not. Some people take offense to its usage, which I personally find completely ridiculous. There aren't really many English words or phrases that aren't region specific that are completely gender agnostic. Therefore, "guys" is often used when referring to any group of people regardless of gender.
Delain was my introduction to the symphonic metal genre, and they continue to be my favorite band to this day. Really looking forward to Lunar Prelude, and even more so to the new album later this year.

Musically, this is an amazing song and it's so nice to have Merel on board as a permanent member! She really adds a nice touch to the band's sound!
However, lyrically, the song is kind of weak. I know that this is just an EP they're putting out but I genuinely feel like Charlotte just hit a wall with this one. This is the same woman who wrote beautifully mesmerizing lyrics like 'Lullaby' and 'Come Closer' as well as thought-provoking lyrics like 'Tell Me Mechanist' and 'Tragedy Of The Commons'. The lyrics here just sound a little bit lazy to be honest(this is coming from a hardcore Delain fan, just to be clear).

Really dude nothing they've done has been as good as the lucidity album. even more I don't understand why Charlotte started singing so nasally on the last few albums like in stardust especially when she's jazz trained and so capable which she displayed with sleepwalkers dream

Chloe Gordon Exactly. I love it when these bands experiment with other genres. Nightwish is really good at this, they have quite the variety on some of their albums. Personally I love the idea of symphonic pop metal, and I love that Within Temptation and Delain have both been having fun with this idea.
