Does Harry still use those synths on the Racks ???? I see not just virtual analog instruments, but also some Roland JV synths.... I am asking because in my studio those are just collecting dust for 10 years.... what use could he make out of 'em ? Any idea ?
There are many current composers that still, like you, have a collection of analog gear they use. I myself have left an Ensoniq Mirage and Roland D50/PG1000. Just something about moving the faders and knobs about.
Sounds like a white man that doesn't care much about Chinese music. I respect the man, love his music, but something about this interview just doesn't sit right. Also, interesting to see that not ONE of the OT demos are by a Chinese composer, but people of other cultures imitating what they think Chinese music should be like...
I mean he literally admits in the interview that he's not as experienced in composing music with Chinese instruments. Still would be nice to hear some demos by Chinese composers.
@@plokky8052 And there's absolutely nothing wrong with having no experience. I don't claim to either or anything. But the way he talks about not finding a need to study them and just diving in doesn't sit well. It's Disney's one East Asian movie (as of now), and they have an all Asian cast and all, but the composer doesn't really even find the need to learn about the instruments and the music?
@@DIDCHOI Usually when they are marketing these sample libraries they want to make their product seem as easy to use as possible to even beginners. Maybe that's why he came across a bit nonchalant to you here?
What's next? Northern Korea sound pack? What about Uighurs? Oh! I get it! Just business, like in 1939. There is no music, no art and no meaning in propaganda. Good sound pack, but don't know if I will buy it.
Wow. I really don't see what gorgeous ancient Chinese music has to do with modern day North Korea. You seem to be pretending to be knowledgeable about something you know little about and it's really cringey. Hope you enjoy being sour!
Forky7 I think you’re missing a lot of context here. The film Mulan was filmed in the Xinjiang region of China, an area where the Chinese government is currently committing some of the worst human rights atrocities of the modern era, comparable to the holocaust in Nazi Germany. These atrocities include, but are not limited to: Forced imprisonment, brainwashing classes, forced sterilization of men, forced rape and forced abortion for women, I can go on. Not only this, but the propaganda department of the region, in large part responsible for these atrocities, was specifically thanked in the credits of this film. Finally, the main actress for this film is a confirmed Communist sympathizer, having public ally given support to the Hong Kong police who worked to squash free speech and democratic demonstrations in Hong Kong, and extrajudicially arrested many of those protesters. This film should be boycotted, and actually in my opinion the entire Disney corporation needs to be boycotted at the very least. Some yeah, I don’t care how good this composer is, perhaps he wrote music while ignorant of these atrocities. But everything about the production of this film absolutely reeks and do not deserve our support.
I could listen to Harry talking about his work for hours. Great composer. Awesome collaboration with Richard and OT.
Yes Harry is one of the best composer in Hollywood....good composer.
I can’t stress enough how inspiring this is.
Great work! The score was mind blowing.
Big fan of him as a person and of his great music.
Cool stuff! Is the library already out?
No, comes out later this month I think. Get that pre-order intro price!
I hope we get a content walkthrough vid soon! :D
To be honest this was a great composition. Even though I’m not a fan of chinese style music
amazing
Always Inspiring!!
Shreks?! Nice.

It's not for you, it's for the people visiting your studio. It simply looks more impressive than the software synth you are actually using.
what is the controller he is using on his left-hand side?
are that Ableton and FL Studio in the same room? 1:35
Remember, Jerry Goldsmith.
genius
I dig it
very inspiring - he is
(Not sure why I spoke as if I were channeling Yoda)
Did you know the new movie Mulan was filmed next to a concentration camp in china? Disney even thanks the guards in the credits.
Love this video I will never be a real money making composer and that'S fine with me
Imagine Disney thanking the Chinese authorities for the use of one of their notorious concentration camps in the making of this movie. Please boycott!

Also for the record, he did hire a Chinese composer assistant Ho-Ling Tang to help him score the music. She’s a wonderful and talented composer!
@@Jedimaster20 That record is not reflected in this video.
