Hey guys, I just noticed something that was a major callback to warcraft 3, particularly when Arthas takes up Frostmourne. Double checking the scene, here's part of the line that Muradin said while reading the plinth: "Just as the blade rends flesh, so too must power scar the spirit." When I first watched this I was trying to figure out how Uther was able to reach Bastion and train there after his death, because he should have been trapped in Frostmourne during the time between then and Arthas' death. The answer to how this could be possible dawned on me when I re-watched the stabbing scene, the golden light that shot away wasn't Uther's connection to the Light like I originally thought, it was the half of his soul that upheld the Libram of Justice (see Warcraft Chronicles Vol 2, pg 154), the very thing he was fixated on throughout his training in Bastion. I think we just got another glimpse at the fracturing of the Light.
“Vengeance cannot be a part of what we must do. If we allow our passions to turn to bloodlust, then we will become as vile as the orcs.” I think Uther wouldn't have thrown Arthas in to the Maw if his soul was in one piece. Seems like he only switches between sadness and anger.
what arthas did in stratholme was neither good nor pleasant, but honestly he did what could be done, it’s easy to call him a monster for killing innocent infected people but I would rather die by the hand of my prince than become a zombie , uther and jaina just judged arthas and did nothing, didn’t come up with an idea, in the end the 2 who both judged arthas did hateful things too because they judged FAIR at that moment (jaina in dalaran’s purge and now uther in this cinematic)
I've seen so many people saying they started these in BFA. These have been a thing since way back in Mists. They had an animated series on Shaohao, the Burderns of Shaohao, then they had Iron Legion ones for WoD, Lords of War, then Legion had Harbingers, and THEN BFA had Warbringers. These have been going on a lot longer than you think. You should watch all of them. They're really good.
@@KrimsonKB Ah, alright. Just putting it out there. Wasn't sure about your specific situation. A lot of people have been saying something similar, and a lot more complaining about the style, but, yeah, these are a long time running. I'd have been surprised if they DIDN'T do one this time around.
He litteraly said "Light, save my soul" before dying. Since he's one of strongest light believer, he was able to save part of himself but I'm pretty sure that only his "bad" side was saved. I dont think that the real Uther would have done that. Pretty sure that we are gonna find "good" uther soul, fight "bad" uther and reforge our Uther.
When i saw this cinematic i was like "You gotta make me relive this!?" 😂 If anyone ever deserved a better end, it was uther the lightbringer Also that scream uther gives out a 5:15... God damn that hurts MY soul
It should be noted that typically it is the devil that sits on your left shoulder, with the angel being on the right... so if that’s the imagery they were going for, I imagine the side they placed her on was deliberate.
Sylvanas hates Arthas so much for what he did to her. And now that she knows whose puppet he was, she can plan to kill the jailer and at the same time take his place. Maybe even Arthas would help her with that. The duet of Arthas and Sylvanas will bring all Warcraft fans into ecstasy. It will be a quintessential epic and emotional experience.
I've heard people say that it was Uther's connection to the light which allowed part of his soul to resist the pull of Frostmourne. It would make sense, but I have to wonder if the part of Uther's soul that the Light saved was actually the part which was in Frostmourne. It's possible that it was destroyed with Frostmourne, but at least it didn't stray from the ideals he held in life. I think it's really interesting that the two fragments of his soul developed in such different ways, and I'm hoping that the part claimed by Frostmourne is still around in some form so that he can become whole again.
I feel like uniting and healing his soul will end up playing a part in our character's storyline down the road. Maybe he'll be a key player in helping us defeat Sylvanas and the Jailer. Both Uther and her were greatly affected by Arthas' actions so it would be pretty poetic. Also I totally headcanon that when Tirion was calling to the light during the end of the LK encounter it was Devos and Uther who actually assisted in him breaking Frostmourne.
Definitely coming back to check Shadowlands. I don’t know for how long I’ll stay, and FFXIV is my main MMO now, but WoW was the first and it will always hold a special place. As for the video, it didn’t disappoint. We see someone trying to do good and turning to evil from the lack of support from those she would have expected to provide it. Kinda mirrors Arthas at Stratholme where if Jaina and Uther had supported him things may have turned very differently. The purge of the city was horrible, but I still doubt there was a better solution available at the time with what was known about the plague and the speed with which it killed. Side note: given that both the Helm and Frostmourne were artifacts from the Maw, could the plague of undeath also come from there, and be the first step in funneling souls to the Jailer, even behind the back of the Lich Kings?
Lol i was waiting your reaction. The others guys seems didn't understand what they saw. Oooh that when uther get stabbed. Remind me when i playing alot playing frozen throne WC 3 back in 2002 and of course the best expansion (personally) WOTLK days.
Uther tries to stop Arthas, but Arthas play the " I am your Prince if you try something is Treason" Card, also Arthas was not alone, he have a bunch of soldiers with him
actually "can you blame him"... yea I can He left Arthas alone at stratholme, moment he needed him too much so I can blame uther for what he is doing but he has an actual reason now because his soul is broken and noble part was within blade before he ascended so Uther we see is not a whole soul but other half of proud and just one. This one thinks its whole but his vengence is making him only confused so this soul has a reason to be like this His other half, one in frostmourne would NEVER done this... he didnt convince us to kill Arthas because he was vengeful because he was convinced he was lost beyond return... he didnt belive we could save him and him being alive is too dangerious and when he was mentioning him he tells us that Arthas will be the boy that was his student in his memories, not Lich King This shows that actual, prouder self of Uther did no hate Arthas. He was instead so sad and blamed himself for what happened but he knew he had to die so he helped us to do it. Uther's this half on the other hand is in pain, shattered and confused with vengence.
do u guys think Arthas become purple kyrian we see at the maw they say we find him at some point in the maw and what will be Jainas reaction will be when se learn what Uther did to Arthas soul
See, the more I learn about Uther, the more I get annoyed that he's presented as so absolutely awesome / the greatest hero ever. And Jaina too, actually. They both stood outside of Stratholme, KNOWING Arthas was going into the town to murder innocent people - not "at some point," not "in the future," but "he is walking away from us, into this place, and will snuff out the life of everyone present, whether they are untainted or not." No matter who Arthas was to them, these are utterly innocent victims, clearly in need of protection, the very epitome of needing a hero. And the two of them walked away. They didn't have to kill him to stop him, they didn't even have to protect the people for very long if we're being practical, since from the conversations we know the plague worked fast and anyone infected would turn quickly. Heck, we could even argue that stopping him was immediately their DUTY as his underlings, since the culling not only destroyed his soul (which Uther pretty much told him it would) but probably damned anyone who helped, i.e. the other paladins, who were also under Uther's care and should have been protected from putting their own souls at risk. But instead they turned their backs and allowed the atrocity to happen, and as far as I can tell, nobody's ever even called them on it. THEY themselves don't even consider those reasons as part of their failure!
When the good people attempt to look at their own and say. "Submit and follow blindly" They should only imagine that their plans are going to fail. Even if someone does not betray them from the inside the forces of evil will use any wedge to get an advantage. When evil understands the truth better than good you should feel pure fear. terrible things are about to happen.
Two sides of Uther's soul: His human side that forgave ARTHAS as an individual and then you have his PALADIN side that could not forgive Arthas the PRINCE and LICH KING for what he did. I wonder if we're gonna find the human part of Uther's soul and make him WHOLE in shadowlands?
that was not justice, that was revenge, it was not his place to bring judgement, Arthas's mind was manipulated and in his final momment he was already done with everything
When I saw this I cried. I swear I cried like a half hour for both of them, specially Arthas, because I do not think it was TOTALLY his fault. It pains me that Arthas ended in the Maw.
Arthas was always a good person and a strong Paladin who served the Light until he got corrupted by the idea of vengeance down the line. The path he took to try and stop Mal'Ganis who he thought was responsible for the Scourge and the death of his people, is what led him to pick up the cursed blade Frostmourne which slowly consumed him. The action itself was noble since all he did was to try and save his kingdom. He even states that he would do anything, even picking up a cursed blade, if that meant the salvation of Lordaeron. We can all assume that the curse and the constant whispers of Ner'zhul made him lose track of his original goals and himself. Even after he fell down the path of righteousness and became the Lich King, the remnants of his soul/being still held back the Scourge quite a lot from destroying Azeroth. If his intentions were total annihilation, I think he would have let the undead roam free. Not saying he was good as the LK, which he was not. I'm just saying you can't judge someone's soul like it was 1+1=2 since there are a lot of factors to consider. To be honest, I think this was serious considering he was never judged and might have not even been assigned to the Maw but another place for his redemption which I feel like he deserves.
From what I learned and read apparently Davos and Uther just threw Arthas in the Maw without bringing his soul to Arbiter to be judged at all. They took justice in their own hands and judged biased.
Arthas did NOTHING wrong. It was the Blade that controlled his actions from the very second he picked it up. His only 'Sin', is ignorance to power of the Dark Blade's corruption. Arthas only wanted to save his people, and the Blade changed his view and manipulated him to darkness and evil. And when he died, and was reborn as the Lich King, he had no control over any of his actions. This is why when he finally died as the Lich King, the first words were 'Is It Over'. Cause he had no control up to that point, when the Blade was destroyed. So Arthas' Soul was Good, tho slightly tainted, and did not deserve going to the Maw. What Uthar did, was an act of Pure Evil, Sentencing an Innocent Soul, to Eternal Damnation.
I've loved BFA, it's not perfect sure, I can see the flaws, but they don't bug me personally. I liked Titan Forging, but it was a minor thing for me, and if so many people hated it then I'm glad it's gone. It's replacement in Corruption is not an ideal solution, but for a last patch feature it's great to see lasers from the sky wreaking vengeance. The only gripe that gets under my skin is how meaningless the choice between Sylvanas and Saurfang was, oh, I get a different cutscene, and that's it? I'm with Sylvanas, ride or die, kill'em all and don't even let the Arbiter sort them out. And I feel bad for Alliance players because they didn't even get an option meaningless as it might be. I'm very intrigued by what's coming in Shadowlands and I can't wait. Dark Lady watch over you all!
I haven't played WoW for a long long time (since Wrath era) but my interest is piqued by this cinematic. The CG one was very underwhelming despite being flashy, but this gave a relative outsider a much better idea of what awaits and the tone.
I appreciate Blizzard's attempt to fix people up mentally, so that they'll be ready to ascend to Bastion, but this video is a bit too much for me. I don't think Uther should throw Arthus into the maw because that's a bit going overboard.
I can definitely blame him. Arthas had his soul taken by Frostmourne and his actions were not his own. The actions of Arthas as a death knight and as he Lich King might as well have been the Jailer.
This is wrong. It's not right. It's not their job to decide fate, and mete punishment; only to ferry souls from one existence to another. They've crossed a line here, and upset the balance that was already tenuous at best. I do not forsee it ending well. Not to mention, I can't particularly say Arthas' Soul was deserving of eternal damnation and punishment. His actions were not his own.
Prediction; arthas redemption arc in the maw. Uther (this uther) is a version of his soul hell bent on 'justice'. Uther will be a boss we need to fight to reconnect the 2 halves or some bs like that. Sylvanas slips away/turns out to be helping fix the maw in some convuluted way. Next expansion void lords.
Though the Sylvanas fans on the forums are already trying to use the soul splitting thing as a 'get out of evil' free redemption card for her...claiming that means we've had the 'evil' version running around on Azeroth since Arthas raised her and there's somehow a 'good' version roaming around somewhere in the Shadowlands. >_>; Frankly I think the Uther splitting was just because of his dedication to/plea to the light at the moment of his death. His more forgiving, noble side seemed to have been sucked into Frostmourne, and his more angry, vengeful side paradoxically went to Bastion. My question is...when Frostmourne was shattered, should his soul have been healed? Or will there be a quest down the road specifically to locate the missing part of his soul and make him whole again? With Arthas I think the problem lies with the fact that Uther and Devos skipped the normal order of things. Arthas probably would've been sent to the Maw anyway, but it wasn't their place to do so out of personal reasons, but the Arbiter. Uther DID have that moment of regret and hesitation, but Devos goaded him on to give in to his anger.
I wonder when will Blizzard stop shitting on Arthas... How many times is it stated in the books and in the games that he lost his soul the moment he grabbed frostmourne. The dude literaly had no soul his soul was stuck in his own blade. And still while he was trapped he tried to battle his evil side and keep the scourge at bay. It was bad enough they send him to hell once they killed him(the good side that was trapped) , but now we have to watch Uther grab an innocent guy (yes that is the real Arthas, because his soul was finaly released from frostmourne) throw him into hell and say it is justice... Disgusting
....I dunno I guess I am in the minority but this was completely meh. Maybe it's because I really have no interest in the Shadowlands story and feel that it cheapens the lore. I don't like how they're using this expansion to do a ton of lore finagling and manipulation, especially with characters whose stories and arcs were completed per the original team. I just.... have lost all faith in the writing team and I don't believe anything is sacred to the current dev team, even Arthas' death and fate. As someone who LOVES that story, I was fully satisfied with how it ended and now.... they're going to screw with it for subs and money. Nope. Not me.
Correct me if I'm wrong... but Arthus isn't really an evil person, right? I mean everything he did including slaughter the village is out of his fixation to save his kingdom. His travel to the North is also to kill the evil. He just got corrupted by the Lich King. So here we have Uther picking up Arthus' soul (uncorrupted?) and just cast him to an eternal of damnation of the Maw. I feel like this conflict with his character in game of being just, but then again character development!
kinda, he was willing to do anything for his kingdom but frostmourne basically corrupted him, still killing an entire city of people is not exactly something a good person would do.
Well not an evil person but he did do a lot of bad things just for vengeance like killing the mercenaries and burning the ships of his men to leave them stuck in Northrend but the attrocities he committed after he picked up Frotstmourne though were done by a different Arthas, part of his soul was consumed and he was driven mad by the blade.
Exactly. He wasn't truly good, not by any means. But, it is highly unlikely that the Arbiter would have sent him to the Maw. So instead of going to Revendreth like (presumably) Garrosh, he was sent straight into the Maw with no chance of being judged fairly.
He IS evil - the Arthas novel shows him explicitly KNOWINGLY killing the last part of his humanity that could have saved him. He does it of his own free will and without any persuasion or loss of control. A lot of “fans” ignore this because they wanna believe he was never in control...but he was. It’s that simple. He killed his own humanity, and then Ner’zul to become the Lich King. As such, he deserves the Maw - he made the choices to be evil and he should be judged for it as irredeemable.
@@sussudio5210 That was the insane Arthas whose soul had been consumed to a large degree, his innocent old self didn't make the choice. Quite the opposite that good part of him was sitting on the table with Nerzul waiting for an answer, the Arthas that took the choice to kill his younger self and Nerzul was the insane Arthas. You can have your own opinions that's fine but the game explicitly states how Arthas was driven mad and had his soul consumed by Frostmourne when he picked it up, knowing those facts, I'm sorry but I just can't agree that the DK Arthas was the Paladin Arthas. I don't agree with the "He didn't have any control" statement, he wasn't mind controlled, he did what he did because he wanted to but that's also because he was insane and with half a soul BECAUSE of Frostmourne so technically he WAS manipulated.

When I first watched this I was trying to figure out how Uther was able to reach Bastion and train there after his death, because he should have been trapped in Frostmourne during the time between then and Arthas' death.
Wow, very good theory! I look forward to seeing it all play out!
You can see that his soul been split into two between Frostmourne and Bastion.
That book was that? Amazing observation!
Well done on the thorough review, KB. I very much enjoyed hearing your thoughts. :)
2 more months, can't waiiiit!! Dude, this short was badass!!
Me: time to go to sleep

“Vengeance cannot be a part of what we must do. If we allow our passions to turn to bloodlust, then we will become as vile as the orcs.”
I think Uther wouldn't have thrown Arthas in to the Maw if his soul was in one piece. Seems like he only switches between sadness and anger.
*Not vengeance, JUSTICE!*
@@dongdongscondonn2066 Right right, sorry my bad. XD
What if the wounded soul of Uther, ascended prematurely, is the cause of the corrupted Kyrian?
what arthas did in stratholme was neither good nor pleasant, but honestly he did what could be done, it’s easy to call him a monster for killing innocent infected people but I would rather die by the hand of my prince than become a zombie , uther and jaina just judged arthas and did nothing, didn’t come up with an idea, in the end the 2 who both judged arthas did hateful things too because they judged FAIR at that moment (jaina in dalaran’s purge and now uther in this cinematic)
Remember the scene from warcraft 3 , what an amazing follow up blizz
I've seen so many people saying they started these in BFA. These have been a thing since way back in Mists. They had an animated series on Shaohao, the Burderns of Shaohao, then they had Iron Legion ones for WoD, Lords of War, then Legion had Harbingers, and THEN BFA had Warbringers. These have been going on a lot longer than you think. You should watch all of them. They're really good.
Well I didn't have a channel when the Legion ones and prior to that were happening, so I likely forgot about them, because yeah I've seen them.
@@KrimsonKB Ah, alright. Just putting it out there. Wasn't sure about your specific situation. A lot of people have been saying something similar, and a lot more complaining about the style, but, yeah, these are a long time running. I'd have been surprised if they DIDN'T do one this time around.
@@carstairstv4700 Naw it's appreciated!
The voice acting in this is amazing!
The weight that uther's words sound, made me want to cry.
Still hope that Uther & Arthas meet again in the Shadowlands.
His soul was split in two. So which part of Uther went to the Shadowlands and which one resided in the blade?
He litteraly said "Light, save my soul" before dying. Since he's one of strongest light believer, he was able to save part of himself but I'm pretty sure that only his "bad" side was saved. I dont think that the real Uther would have done that. Pretty sure that we are gonna find "good" uther soul, fight "bad" uther and reforge our Uther.
When i saw this cinematic i was like "You gotta make me relive this!?" 😂 If anyone ever deserved a better end, it was uther the lightbringer
Also that scream uther gives out a 5:15... God damn that hurts MY soul
Hurricane released the Black Temple trailer
The ascended, or whatever she is, has Sylvanas' VA. Arthas was not judged by the Arbitor which might have broken death.
What we need to remember when Arthas killed Uther, Arthas was no longer behind the wheel. His was the first soul to be devoured by Frostmourne.
It should be noted that typically it is the devil that sits on your left shoulder, with the angel being on the right... so if that’s the imagery they were going for, I imagine the side they placed her on was deliberate.
Was waiting for your reaction eagerly :D
Just want to say I'm a huge fan of your videos Sir.
I love your reactions man! great video :)
Glad you like them!
The only thing that made me pre order. seeing Bluther Flightbringer toss arthas into the clogged space toilet.
What did you think of SL?
My only thought at the end was “There’s no way this will bite me in the ass later!”
For over 20 years
That voice has been surving uther xD
Dude...I literally start looking for your reactions of WOW cinematics lol
great reaction as always krimson KB funny when i first started watching you i played alliance now i play horde main
I’m an outlier, but I greatly enjoyed the story inshadowlands. I play wow for the quests and groups, not the endgame stuff
What did you think of shadowlands? I hated patch 9.2
I always love when kb does live reactions and I enjoy his wow videos
The fucked up part is Arthas never got judged by the Arbitrator in Orbos. Uther and Davos chick just snatched him up and dropped him in the Maw.
Does this mean Death Knights can't go into Bastion because of the runes and the power of the maw and stuff? Asking for a friend.
He was my student!!!! I felt like this was a disgrunted teacher telling the principle that a student bullied them haha.
Lol i was waiting your reaction. The others guys seems didn't understand what they saw. Oooh that when uther get stabbed. Remind me when i playing alot playing frozen throne WC 3 back in 2002 and of course the best expansion (personally) WOTLK days.
Uther tries to stop Arthas, but Arthas play the " I am your Prince if you try something is Treason" Card, also Arthas was not alone, he have a bunch of soldiers with him
There was no justice.
actually "can you blame him"... yea I can
He left Arthas alone at stratholme, moment he needed him too much so I can blame uther for what he is doing but he has an actual reason now because his soul is broken and noble part was within blade before he ascended so Uther we see is not a whole soul but other half of proud and just one. This one thinks its whole but his vengence is making him only confused so this soul has a reason to be like this
His other half, one in frostmourne would NEVER done this... he didnt convince us to kill Arthas because he was vengeful because he was convinced he was lost beyond return... he didnt belive we could save him and him being alive is too dangerious and when he was mentioning him he tells us that Arthas will be the boy that was his student in his memories, not Lich King
This shows that actual, prouder self of Uther did no hate Arthas. He was instead so sad and blamed himself for what happened but he knew he had to die so he helped us to do it.
Uther's this half on the other hand is in pain, shattered and confused with vengence.
For lordaeron
do u guys think Arthas become purple kyrian we see at the maw they say we find him at some point in the maw and what will be Jainas reaction will be when se learn what Uther did to Arthas soul
Idk if you are a Star Trek fan mate, but did you notice Tuvok from Voyager was the guy with the helmet on?!?!
When the good people attempt to look at their own and say.
"Submit and follow blindly"
They should only imagine that their plans are going to fail.
Even if someone does not betray them from the inside the forces of evil will use any wedge to get an advantage.
When evil understands the truth better than good you should feel pure fear.
terrible things are about to happen.
dude we gonna find arthus in the maw and I can only hope that he is gonna be a future raid encounter or something and that would be SO HYPE.
Greetings fellow SAO fan!
7:18 C'MERE BOAH.
Im expecting kaelthas or garrosh in Afterlives - revendreth
Is the guy in the helmet Tim Russ?
It does sound like him, that very controlled voice like he used for Tuvok.
Arthas deserved to be given a chance at redemption in Revendreth. A shame how he ended up.
Long have i waited..... for KB to react to WoW again....
From what I learned and read apparently Davos and Uther just threw Arthas in the Maw without bringing his soul to Arbiter to be judged at all. They took justice in their own hands and judged biased.
So... Can you take a look at Hurricane's newest trailer (The Black Temple) and overdue Captain Grimm stuff? Would be much appreciated :D
Inc arthas rescue and redemption lol and probably Uther corruption
So that will make Arthas ''bad'' again ? After years of tortures in the Maw.
I guarantee Sylvanas has plans to fuck with Arthas' soul. Revenge means everything to her and now she has her chance.
One thing I have been wondering about, since when does a Prince outrank a General on a battlefield...especially in a matter of citywide mass murder
A prince can also be a general. So Arthas was the heir to the throne, leader of that specific army therefore he outranked Uther i'm guessing.
Uther ❤️
The CG one was very underwhelming despite being flashy, but this gave a relative outsider a much better idea of what awaits and the tone.
omg play again will ya:) we miss u m8
He serves the light even in death
No one can blame Uther for what he did, Arthas actions were unforgivable
Arthas did nothing wrong tho, he did what a king must do to save everyone, and Uther leade him to this path :(
I appreciate Blizzard's attempt to fix people up mentally, so that they'll be ready to ascend to Bastion, but this video is a bit too much for me. I don't think Uther should throw Arthus into the maw because that's a bit going overboard.
I love you! You need to go into voice acting!
I can definitely blame him. Arthas had his soul taken by Frostmourne and his actions were not his own. The actions of Arthas as a death knight and as he Lich King might as well have been the Jailer.
I don't care about the jailer... i only want to give MY JUSTICE to Sylvanas. T:T
Disgusting
Why Arthas's fate must be sad one?
In my opinion the story is still good and Sylvanas is very much a grey character, people just don't wanna see it.
How is Sylvanas grey? How can you justify the genocide of an entire species morally grey
Arthas is loser! Lich king is loser! Sylvanas win! ✊🏻
spoiler alert...which i dont think is a spoiler anymore ....garrosh coming up in the next ones ....im most exsited about that one
....I dunno I guess I am in the minority but this was completely meh. Nope. Not me.
To each their own!
