For the last 5-6 years i have been using generic medicines for many of my health problems and im totally satisfied with its result...i have literally saved 80% of total medicine costs which branded medicine charge..To give eg i have allergy and my doctor prescribed me a certain antihistamine tablet of a particular brand who's cost was 300 Rs in mkt...But i already knew of generic medicines hence i opted for it the cost was only 50 Rs... literally saved 250 Rs..

Very good information. There's general impression that same medicine which is prescribed by doctor, is available much cheaper than companies brand and doubts are in mind whether generic medicine have same effect on ailments. Please make your presentation in Hindi to have more penetration and impact on general public. Thanks

Well, You will be needing Pharm D guys instead of pharmacist to start pharma clinic in India. Pharmacist coursework is limited when it comes to pharmacology and therapeutics. Pharmacist do study the clinical aspect, but I think they are being taught more about the prospect related to pharmaceutical industry. These approach explained in the video is already implemented in western countries (May be decade before) and might takes years to implement this in Indian on full scale.
Pharmacist in India are under valued. But hard truth is - They are not ready.

what is pharmacist course? As far as I know there's Diploma in Pharmacy and Bachelor's in Pharmacy. I am studying B.Pharm and it's superior than Diploma coz we study both the industry stuff as well as the clinic stuff.

Why generic medicines MRP print is equal to branded medicines ? Hospital medicals stores are sealing it on MRP and earning very high profit. For example when my mother was admited I bought parcitomol IV bottle for Rs. Rs. 375 as per MRP but it is available for Rs. 100 in generic medical store of same brand and with same MRP written on it Rs.375. So hospital medical stores are earning more than Rs. 275 per bottle.

Thanks for the informative video. Always wondered about Generic Medicines.
But is it for sure that these Generics can compete in quality, efficacy with Branded? Branded companies fear of failure for non - performing drugs and will even recall or issue advisories. Would Generic companies do same?

Quality and effectiveness are not linked to products . It's in aims and objectives of business. So unless whole Societies start choosing quality and adulteration free atmosphere in all the products we can't change anything , milkman, shopkeeper, govt/private service are choosing money as priority. Doctor are toppers of society.

I am not an expert but I think branded ones have higher efficacy rates.

generic drugs do not undergo clinical trials and also if you get any side effects you cannot claim the company. Most of the generic drugs do not even come with a label. But this is India yaha quality nhi price se mtlb hai logo ko. I am a pharmacy student that's why I am saying this.

Anyhow, My core concept of comment was never about branded vs generic fight. All i said was, psychiatric medications take time to show their effects, May that be generic medicine or branded one. Complete recovery is psychiatric cases is altogether different matter of discussion, Whether it's possible or not is also completely different matter. Psychiatric disorders, their slow recovery, treatability, whether some diseases are completely treatable or not, that's wholly and solely different thing and i am Pretty much sure all these things can't be compromises in any you tube comment.

As a Veterinary graduate and currently working in vet pharma industry as Product Manager I have various views.
    1. It's Truth that both generic and branded medicine need to achieve equal quality parameters and have same effect. But various times due to regulatory escapes these things not been checked and everything messed.
    2. MRP label of products are drastically keep as equal to branded one. I saw a generic brand mrp is 25% higher than branded one of same molecular composition. It's big confusion and this is main factor where pharmacist getting higher margins and customers suffers.
    3. Faithful ness in suggestions of pharmacist. As various times local manufacturers doing trending the generic medicines on fixed shipper packing and discount slots . Pharmacist forcing to buy the medicines which are acting as Doctors for various patients. But instead of getting cheaper medicine it creates more Resistance in patients about antibiotics and other medicines.
This concept also entering in Veterinary pharma but still people keeping faith on vets for final decision so not successful at all places .. also the issue of quality also questionable??

What informative? Hearing with my very poor knowldge of english I ca'n't understand whether the generic medicines can be consumed by a patient undoubtedly or otherwise after due comparison of its ingredients with branded medicine. No one used to present the clear picture of its undoubted usage by patients. Always a round shaped information is being given by the doctors/pharmacits by which the patients became puzzled regarding its usages. My f9lded hand request to Dr. Karmakar to please clarify whether a patient of any kind may consume generic medicines undoubtedly or otherwisr for which great personalities like Smir khan, Kapildev and even PM of India taken initiativeness to promote generic medicines.
I am a diabetes and stroke paralysis patient and consuming Dava India manufactured generic medicines for last three years without facing any visible problems. This is my personal experience.
