This guy would fit perfectly in a double pivot role next to FDJ. Onana is obviously more of a defensive CDM rather than someone who dictates the game, but that’s exactly what De Jong is at Barca. While Onana focuses more on stopping counters and winning the ball back, De Jong would be more of a deep lying playmaker and our outlet when we transition into an attack. They would compliment each other perfectly imo.

@@apollo-9725 bro de jong is not a deep lying playmaker he is more of a ball carrier. pedri and gundogan are better deep line playmakers than him . To pair with de jong we need someone who looks to set the tempo of the game someone like lobotka, kimmich , bennacer , zubimendi or wieffer.

Best scouting analysis on UA-cam. This isn’t the type of player Arsenal need, we need a player that can act as a foil for Rice and can also replace him defensively when he’s not available. Zubimendi/De Jong/Vermeeren comes to mind. Arsenal run the risk of having a midfield with little build up phase progression if they misprofile another slot in their midfield
Maybe rice can play as a CM if we move onana into a 6 role?
That would free up odegaard to basically go into free roam or play as a CAM , thus diversifying our attack.

Definitely agree that Liverpool feels like a much better fit than Arsenal, though I'd imagine Everton would be reluctant to sell to Liverpool. I'm also very interested to watch the Belgium midfield over the next few years. Onana, KDB, and Lavia seem like they could complement each other very well if they can stay healthy.

Great video, could you do youssouf Fofana next. i don't rate Onana too highly. the modern game seems to be lacking CDMs with Rordi-type ability. united should stay far away from Onana, especially with the current setup, will end up being another morgan schneiderlin.
I think Onana could be just what United need. At least if we're gonna persist with the single pivot. Kobbie Mainoo can do it at times, but I'm not sure he's physical enough to do it against a team that are favoured to win the ball back a lot thru the center of the pitch with Eriksen (or Mount) and Bruno in the 8/10 positions. Having the choice between Mainoo and Onana depending on who we face could be really nice. And also Mainoo could be given more opportunities in the #8 and maybe develop his creativity higher up the pitch. When we would need to see out a game playing a double pivot with Onana and Mainoo sounds nice.

I think he's similiar with Casemiro in terms of playstyle. A physical player who doesn't afraid to engage duels but could offer more than Casemiro in possession. But I believe he's still too quick to move to big clubs like Liverpool or Arsenal. Would love to see him move to UEL or UECL level clubs like Brighton or West Ham

I'm late to this vid but having listened to you explain his strengths and weaknesses, I think if Onana was to make a move then Man Utd would be the best fit. Especially now that Kobbie Mainoo has burst onto the scene. Onana's duelling can give Mainoo the platform to be more involved in the buildup/playmaking side of the team, and there'd be less pressure on Onana to be the main player in buildup initially. The two of them could rotate in and out of the build up phase and even in situations of who goes forward, depending upon the game state.

You could already see Onana got some talent when he played in Zweite Bundesliga for Hamburger SV. It wasnt a big surprise that he quickly moved on for 2 digit million fee to a bigger site. But IMO he wont be a "world class dm/cm". He is for sure a good Premier League Player but not more not less.

I think He is not a JdP type of CDM. He is a functional 6. That's why I think Liverpool is the best fit out of all teams you considered, but we know Everton and LFC don't do business which is weird.

@@JB-kd9wg but then the commentary is too quiet and I need to turn it right back up. Its not an issue of the volume but the volume in comparison to the volume of the rest of the video. Also the gunshot is the first sound of the video so if what you where watching before was quiet and you had your volume up, it’s a harsh start.

pythagoras, do you have any good idea of why, nowadays, we see a lot of players with extremely bizarre qualities, related to the position and the role they play? i was putting the blame on their coaches but it's so annoying seeing so many times, for example a winger who is explosive but can't dribble or only able in big spaces, with no ability to cross , who can't finish, play in a team that progresses the ball slowly. This kid Onana, watching his limitation regarding his technique, how many roles could a coach fit him into? a CM like Marchisio, a box2box like Vidal or an defensive midfielder like Makelele. He has those wonderful passes but he is 100% unable to play any of the 3 roles mentioned before. The distribution of qualities is so bizarre. You can see that with wide defenders too. Can't cross, can't defend properly and even wingerlike (see Tsimikas) who begin from that deep the best they put in a pitch is a good combination, a 1-2. It's frustrating. Why are we seeing players like that a lot?
funny thing imo is onana when hes able to use his physicality looks good but in prem not as easy at like when belgium faced sweden and he could just man handle entire swedish national team he looked elite but never rly looks same in club football

If he was a Britain another £100 was demanded..for me he is the best..I had rather had him than rice..the only reason for that is his calmness on the ball..the technique..creativity..above rice strength of rice is only power and tackles which I can see onana has too..I would like to see another creativity player on the left 8 as ode on the right..for time being onana can act there..with rice behind him..and even when we need onana to sit there as single pivot he can do that too
