Consider yourself one of the luckiest people in the world since Neil has a phobia about meeting strangers (Limelight is his testimony to his affliction). He never does the usual meet & greets with Alex and Geddy and has even refused to converse with other celebrities. Not sure how you were awarded the privilege, but consider yourself one among very few. Many people have accused him of being a snob, which in some ways he is, but his failure to have a face to face with his adoring fans is actually some mental phobia, “I can’t pretend a stranger is a long awaited friend”, besides his refusal to play a role and become pretentious. I’m not sure which, but I’ll assume it is a mental anomaly. The tragic death of his wife and daughter certainly did nothing to help with this affliction, I’m sure. He certainly has no disorder when it comes to writing and playing drums. Arguably, the greatest drummer in rock and roll history, at least where innovation and his influential impact are concerned. Rush, in general, are probably one of the most influential groups in rock history, especially when drawing the line between well written music and self-indulgence. Because of how well synchronized Geddy’s riffs were with Neil’s fills, they blended perfectly together, so we can rule out hotdogging, just to stand out. No one musician stood out above the rest, like so many do in most bands (especially egotistical guitarists), because they were equally talented and made sure that no matter how complex a piece may become, all of the instruments fulfilled a harmony or part in more of an orchestration, rather than simple rock progressions. This is why I think Lifeson gets the shaft when great guitarists are mentioned. We never hear Geddy and Neil drop back to a very simplistic rhythm part, just so Alex can shred on the guitar and stand out as a guitar hero. I love the way that Geddy’s bass parts are as impressive and ripping as is Lifeson’s guitar solo in “Freewill”, just to name one song. There are many more like that. Geddy was always going to fill out the missing space most 3 piece groups would experience when the only guitar dropped out for a lead. Not Rush baby, that’s when Geddy and Neil stepped up their game, even before keyboards were ever introduced to the music. You are extremely fortunate. Hope you got an autograph, because a Neil Peart autograph is a rare of a rock commodity as a post 1977 picture with Elvis Presley. It has to be the most valuable of all Rush autographs, not to mention a picture of you with him. Geddy and Alex sign thousands of autographs per year, but Neil almost never. Geddy’s is probably the most common, since so many people do not recognize Alex and walk past him to get Geddy’s signature, like the stupid waitress in the documentary, “Beyond The Lighted Stage”. I can’t imagine anyone doing that, but Alex claims it happens all of the time. Almost like he can’t get people to take his autograph. There are some musically illiterate people in this world. Hang on too that autograph, buddy (don’t tell me you didn’t get his autograph or a picture, If he let you)

This tour was THE tour for me. Neil's drums went from "pretty in pink" (HYF tour), to this badass purple, but were still Ludwigs. They were getting airplay. And, there were the BUNNY'S on this tour. The bunny's literally rocked. It was so cool. I was in college during this time of no youtube and we would have had to pay big money for a copy of this! Yes, people sold boots back then..... Amazing piece of history here.
Snuck into Dallas Reunion Center during RTB Tour. When they played The Analog Kid during sound check, that was awesome to hear without the lyrics. Yes, they eventually caught up with me...after two hours of just walking around like I owned the place. This is cool, how many videos of other bands where people want to watch the sound check.lol.
For the gear heads 🤓The top 2 units on Alex’s rack are TC. Electronic 2290 Digital Delay/effects processors. He used the top one for shorted delays and the bottom one for longer delays. He’s most likely editing his settings Delay sounds and or saving them for recall. Below those is a Yamaha SPX 90, Roland DEP-5, 2 Tc Electronic 1210 expanders, 2GK 2000 CPL preamps, Rane Mixers, a Roland Dimension D, and a Bradshaw amp switcher. Im pretty sure that his power amp is a Messa/Boogie Strategy 400 stereo and his Cabinets are the same GK that he used on the Hold your fire - presto tours. He kept this same basic setup for both tours

Me and my buddy snuck in on soundcheck during the counterparts tour at the auditorium in buffalo New York. The lights were turned down and they were playing animate and a bit of Neil's drum solo. Memories.
Its so weird to hear the actual band noodling around with their songs. Ive messed around with Xanadu or Subdivision in cover band soundchecks...but to hear Rush do it, its breathtaking...its like damn....they actually wrote these songs...

I haven't been to a Rush concert since Moving Pictures. I'm definitely going to catch a show if/when they tour again. Of all the bands from their time period they're practically the last standing. That's odd too because in the 80s they talked a lot about how long they might stay together, as if they wouldn't last much longer. Rush is a testament to being the type of studied musician who doesn't abuse drugs. That's one big reason why they're still going strong. Long live Rush!
