After watching all the Rhythm Wolf videos I have reached the conclusion that Rhythm Wolf requires actual skill to use. Theres dozen idiots saying that it sounds bad and their demos sound exactly like that. Yet when a person with skill works it, it sounds like its costs 5x its current price.
Thank you for showing how awesome this puppy really is. Best demo so far! Way to run it down tempo and utilize all 32 steps for a truly singing melody. I'm an old indie rocker and EDM is not at all my thing but I use the wolf in very much the same way in our weird little band. 8 measure bass line = bass player ;)
+FirstName LastName I record each stem on a new track in Ableton Live. If I have patterns running on the Wolf (like the drums) I make sure the drum machine is synced to Live's tempo via the USB cable. The tweaking is live because no knob on the Wolf transmits MIDI CC, nor does the Wolf receive any.
With so much hate I knew someone , somewhere unlocked this machine . You seem to be that person. You should do more videos they are very high quality and sound great . Subbed you up .
Wow, looks so simple and sounds so amazing! Best demo i've seen about the Rhythm Wolf, even better the Richard Divine's demo which i liked but sound wasnt only coming out of the wolf but a bunch of other modular stuff connected to it. Super motivational man, planning to go home and juice out my wolf now. Thanx!
Thanks! I'm still using the Wolf. If you are going to use the synth don't forget to let it warm up for several hours. And even then you have to tune it every so often.
The man from Del Monte,he say "YES".Lovely example, very inventive-love the Wolf, too!A bit of delay/echo/ping pong goes great with the synth parts. Thanks for sharing:)
I actually like the RW! - As a guitar player it is a very good 'organic' accompaniment, much better than a metronome or even basic drum machine. It is very easy to use and easy to apply changes on the fly - It would be vastly improved with a song mode or some way to chain sequences together.
@@TheTrackdriver Do you know how to tune the bass synth? i have a midiconnection to my computer, but it seems to need an audio connection as well? - but i dont have audio in on my laptop! - glad if you could help, greets Levi

super late to the party. just got a wolf on a nice trade. having trouble connecting to ableton, internal clock the sequencer is fine, but when i switch to USB i get midi signal to ableton but can only control a soft synth as a midi, my sequencer doesnt work and I cant hear the factory wolf sounds through ableton. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Hi, you should be able to send a clock from Ableton Live to your Rhythm Wolf via USB. Connect the USB cable from your computer to the Wolf and turn both on. Press and hold the shift button on the Wolf and press the sync button (step 13) once. While still holding the shift button down turn the tempo knob until you see "usb" on the display. The Wolf should now appear as MIDI ports labeled Rhythm Wolf in the MIDI preferences in Live. Switch "Sync" to "On" for Rhythm Wolf MIDI out. Note that Rhythm Wolf must be connected to a sound card from the main out on the back. Audio is not sent via the USB cable.
@@robdot0 The Rhythm Wolf can receive program changes on MIDI channel 10. Create a MIDI track in Live. In the In/Out section on the track set "MIDI From" to "No Input" to prevent any MIDI signals coming in. Set "MIDI To" to the Rhythm Wolf and select "Ch. 10". Create a short pattern on this track - a half bar is fine. Double-click the pattern so the "Clip view" opens. In the "Clip tabs" - where you can select "Loop" and stuff - click the tab behind it. There should appear three boxes. Set them as follows - "Bank 1" "Sub 1" and finally "Pgm" to the pattern number you want to switch to on the Rhythm Wolf. Create as many of these program change patterns as you need. Place them a half bar before the actual change on the track in the arrangement view.

i'm one. this guy has added delay and multi tracked the machine. trust me man. do not get one. you can get an old electribe that can do all this plus much much more. this thing hasn't any effects at all. its just got minimal amounts of tweaking ability. when you use the filters you can hardly hear what they do but if you max the filters (the howl thing) it just ups the volume to distort... then you have to turn down the main volume on it. a good example of how a tube or distortion should work is on the electribe esx. the tube on that is so warm you can lightly warm your bread. this akai machine just sounds like its busting. the kicks are like a tight little silent fart, the hats are really smash sounding like a glass sample. the snare with all the noise is so flat and any one could make that noise with wet lips. another thing is that the thing is out of tune with all my gear and is a nightmare to tweak. it constantly causes trouble. i could go on... but i'll just sit and look at the money hole in my pocket that this machine could only make.

I really like this! I’ve been casually looking for a new drum machine/groovebox. I’ll have to look into the Rhythm Wolf. How have you liked it overall?
I still like it and use it occasionally. However, I think the highest setting for the kick's pitch is still too low. I think one can mod it to have a wider range but I haven't delved into it yet.

+ben inglis You are right, I did use effects but not "heavily". It's only tape delay, reverb and eq. You are also right that the Wolf is limited as not much happens when you turn the knobs.
