Desolation Peak via Ross Lake - Washington State

Ross Lake stretches the entire length between the North Cascade Highway 20 and Canada. Its crystal-clear waters are renowned for their striking turquoise hue. The lake is rimmed with towering, glacier-capped peaks and encompasses some of the most rugged and remote wilderness in the Pacific Northwest. In this video, we hike to Ross Lake Resort, rent a boat, and travel to the upper reaches of the lake, where we hike to the summit of Desolation Peak. The remoteness and natural splendor of Ross Lake offer visitors a chance to immerse themselves in the tranquility and serenity that can only be found in nature.

Great presentation. I know you had a lot of stuff to squeeze into this video, so it makes the hike up Desolation look rather brief. My recollection of day hiking it almost 50 years ago is more lengthy. (And I was in pretty good shape back then.) Looks like the views are still superb. Thanks for the memories.

Thank you so much for your kind words! Desolation Peak is a challenging hike, with nearly 4,400 feet of elevation gain, numerous switchbacks, and a round trip of 9.4 miles from the boat dock.
