It is so gratifying to see Sun Ra and the Arkestra on a big stage way way back in an Eastern European country, getting the recognition they so richly deserved. Thank you for posting this beautiful performance.
damm good live concert from sun ra and his arkestra, free flowing jazz magic, live 22nd october 1987 in warsaw poland. love this just awesome. this band was well ahead of their time.
I met him back around 1980 when he was with the Arkestra and played in East Lansing, Michigan. His drum kit didn't arrive on time and he needed one last minute and I loaned him mine. I have at least one picture of him playing at that concert. @@arkhamagency
@@johnlockard4682 I'd love to see the photo. His stuff never arrived on time... I remember riding with him to a gig in a car that literally only went in reverse. He was improvising even in life, but somehow he made it work. He was an incredible example of a human being, I assure you. Thank you for the story.
in the BBC FOUR doku RAAAAAA.. wayne kramer the guitar player from mc5 has a wonderful episode from a concert from mc5 & then sun ra. watch it! sun ra is rock punk jazz gitane folk classic trash speed voodoo gothic what have you!!! the most of the most!!!!!!!!!!!

I was at this concert 🥰
John Gilmore is one of the greatest tenor in jazz history. All his solo are gem.
Marshall Allen is a beast. They all are, what a band.

@@arkhamagency I have two pictures - how can I get digital copies to you?
As a note about the musicians, I am fairly certain that that is Michael Ray on Trumpet. At about 25:00 there is a close up as he takes a solo.
I’m hoping they were high af when doing a concert, looks like great fun!
Я ездил с провинции в Москву на концерт Сан Ра был восхищен потом Сан Ра не стало вообще люблю разнообразный джаз😊❤🎉
Sun Ra is my inspiration. We are spiritual brothers
