  • (HD LINK: • The Artistry of Michae...
    My long awaited follow up to Artistry Part 1 continues the singular and mesmerizing display of athletic art by the Master. This is how you amass a record 10 scoring titles at 30.1ppg and 50% as a perimeter. Clyde Drexler's timeless quote after meeting MJ in the 1992 Finals comes to mind here: "I used to think MJ had 2000 moves. I was wrong - he has 3000."
    I also like this quote from SLAM's Top 50 Players issue from 6/2009 on MJ:
    "...the masterpiece, it has all eyes in the room on it while it plays, and shows timeless resiliency afterward, increasing in beauty, value and fame long after the artist is gone. Jordan is that masterpiece."
    This was a tough project for me because for a long time, I didn't have a vision on how to approach it. When it finally clicked, the biggest hurdle was putting forth the time and energy to get the vision from my mind onto paper - or should I say WMV file. But I think it worked out ok here. So, thanks to all those who whipped me into shape and pushed and badgered me to get to work and finish this. In the end, I was just as excited in getting it done as anyone out there and I hope it was worth the wait. And while 95% of the footage here is from my collection, the 5% I 'borrowed' to make this work means thanks to all the other uploaders out there with tons of footage. You know who you are and keep up the great work.

    Michael Jordan is simultaneously the greatest scoring guard and the greatest defensive guard in NBA history. Look it up.

    One other thing. MJ played in an era where you got beat up going to the basket. LBJ is much more protected. He doesn't face the Bad Boys of Detroit, The Davis's of Indiana or the Ewing, Oakley, Mason combo in NY. They were all mean players who wouldn't think twice about hammering you if you dared attack the hoop.

    Kobe has tried to immitate MJ's moves,and he actually does a decent job of it. But if you have watched mj's entire career, kobe looks like a living copyright infringement to you
    He can replicate some of mj's moves,but the true astonishing stuff you saw MJ do,are nowhere to be found.Not just from kobe, but anyone on this league now.
    The league is -imho- a joke now.All these rules have made it a dunk fest...back in those days,the center era,there was a tree waiting for u, u had to earn your dunk

      Wjen are people going to stop comparing a SG and a PF? Jordan and Bron two different styles. Two different positions. Two different NBA storylines. Both great. But Jordan was the 1st supremely skilled baller of the video footage era.

    Thanks for the video! Just showed this to a coworker at work and it settled the MJ vs LeBron argument. LeBron is the second best ever but much of what he does is because he is just physically stronger than the people he dominates (like Shaq). MJ does his work against taller defenders and 2,3, or 4 players at a time. LBJ is a great, great, player but he simply can't do the things MJ does in this video. Thanks again!!!

    kobe isn't even close to MJ, especially in the artistry department.... in my opinion as well as most people who have watched MJ and his carreer as well as Kobe's. MJ and the NBA of those days simply does not compare.

    The master of masters, the boss of bosses. I must say of all the ways to express oneself on earth, from the very beginning of time to this very day, Basketball is by far one of the most craftiest crafts a human can take part in, and Mike was the absolute greatest. Me and my grandmother watched the entire game he hit 55 on ny in the #45 jersey. All 55 pts, and the pass to bill winnington. Just me and her. Thank u mike. RIP grandma.

    Hes got balls to go into the paint like that with so many players and still find a way to score. The players now avoid the crowded paint unless it's open because they are afraid of injuries, except for derrick rose, but look what happen he is injure now lol.

    The difference between Jordan and Lebron is you can’t double team Lebron because of his playmaking ability..While with Jordan it really didn’t matter what defensive package you threw at him he was still averaging 30 in his prime.

      shaquill williams people don't realize. Mj literally put so much effort into basketball that he understood things in a different way when it comes to basketball. He understood physics at a different level then these other players. Because of pushing himself, he literally played at a different level.
      What I'm trying to say is, mj like unknowingly deeply meditated about basketball. Only other player that I think had this same understanding was bird.

    Yeah great quote. It's from SI's 12/10/84 issue. The whole thing goes:
    "Move with him, and he'll outjump you. "Larry Nance jumps well off one foot and Woolridge off two," says the Bulls' Rod Higgins. "Michael jumps well off one or two."
    Jump with him and he'll outhang you. "He has more hang time than Ray Guy," says assistant coach Fred Carter.
    Hang with him and he'll out-body control you. "He's not human," says Spain's Olympic Coach. "He's a rubber man."

    I'll tell you how he became this great, Dean Smith said during an article in sports illustrated that Jordan was the hardest working player he ever had, Jordan took his 4.6 40 yard dash down to a 4.3, he increased his vertical from a 42" vertical to a 48" vertical, he constantly added to his skill-set, and he was always the most well conditioned athlete in the NBA. He became the greatest ever with the heart of a lion, the determination of a warrior, and the focus of a robot.

    I am an avid sports fan. In all my life I enjoyed some of the most amazing sports figures of all times. All of them gave me the impression that they were the absolute best a lot of times during their careers. But there were also times where they didnt quite much the hype they built up for themselves.
    But only one, ONE individual sports figure was always above the hype, always the dominant force by which everything was measured.
    And that was Michael Jordan. He was the undisputed KING. 6 for 6.

Most dominating force to eve play the game, and was equally as good defensively . Some of us DID see this coming, the unc family saw it . He would make an absolute mockery of these rules in the nba today, it wouldn't be fair what he would do.

    One thing you miss when you are too young to have seen Jordan is how clutch he was in critical games ... and in the face of defenses that were much tougher than today as a result of the rule changes. I think Detroit would be permanently expelled from the NBA if they pulled that stuff today. "The Jordan Rules", etc. Kobe is clutch no doubt but I saw some interesting analysis. Career game winning/tying shots within 24secs end of game: Kobe 7/25 (28%) - Jordan 9/18 (50%)

    Now why in the world would we mention footwork? Oh, I don't know, I thought we were discussion creativity and the lack of similarities between the two players. Jordan out-muscled guys who weighed 30 lbs more than him, with ease. By the way, I don't care who Kobe said would win a dunk contest, Vince Carter's dunks in that dunk contest had virtually no distance when pertains to hang time. They were all short distance dunks. Vince Carter's creativity in the air were mere flashes of brilliance.

  • @theAIRJORDANblitz
    @theAIRJORDANblitz 15 років тому +1

    Unlike you, I'm a basketball freak who's probably seen 3 times as many games as you have. Vince Carter NEVER waved that basketball around like it was a grapefruit or snatched the ball out of mid-air on rebounds like it was a softball. Jordan's hands were "million dollar hands" - Phil Jackson. I guess you've never seen Jordan's superman style windmill dunk where he does a sideways two footed gather and floats for about 5 feet in the air while palming the ball in a complete sideways windmill.

  • @theAIRJORDANblitz
    @theAIRJORDANblitz 15 років тому +1

    Again, you make no sense and should stick to watching highlight videos and playing video games. Vince Carter had smaller hands than Jordan, Vince was more of a two foot gather jumper than Jordan, Jordan was more explosive off one foot (either one), Vince's abilities off the dribble to create opportunities around the rim to create aren't even close, Vince as strong as Jordan pound for pound? Are you serious? Grace? Go back to watching Vince Carter windmills and dunk contest highlights.

  • @theAIRJORDANblitz
    @theAIRJORDANblitz 15 років тому +1

    OK, so pulling off moves a few times puts someone on Jordan's level for creativity or even close? Give me a break man. As I said, Jordan did this night in and night out. Congratulations though you were the first youtube user in the comments of this video to over-rate some of today's players. Good job. I'm sure you lived here in Chicago like me and watched all of Jordan's games and your true understanding of what being Jordan-like night in and night out is probably better than my understanding.

  • @theAIRJORDANblitz
    @theAIRJORDANblitz 15 років тому +1

    Do you even know what a tomahawk dunk is? Jordan clearly did a full circle on that dunk, and Jordan did a full circle on the "kiss the rim" dunks. He did kiss the rim windmill dunks on breakaways. How many rock the cradle dunks did Vince do?
    (I knew this goof would break it down to dunk contest dunks and windmills)

  • @theAIRJORDANblitz
    @theAIRJORDANblitz 15 років тому +1

    If we are talking about best in-game dunkers as far as impressiveness goes, I would go with Dominique, Jordan, Kemp, Vince, Clyde, and LeBron. As far as creativity in game, Vince and Jordan stand apart. The problem with Vince is the fact that his creative in-game dunks didn't last very long because his ability to stay athletic isn't even comparable to Jordan. Not even close.

  • @theAIRJORDANblitz
    @theAIRJORDANblitz 15 років тому +1

    He claims that Vince Carter was as athletic and creative as Jordan, yet I see Vince Carter lumbering around the floor, at his age, and his 32" vertical is unimpressive now-a-days, he jumps up in the air and drops like a rock. Jordan at this age was still flying around. Hell, Jordan during the Wizards years was still more athletic than Vince is at this age.

  • @hoopsencyclopedia
    @hoopsencyclopedia  14 років тому +1

    Great comments - thanks. I'd add that KB's aggressiveness, floor skills and midrange offense are where he is closest to MJ in my opinion. The biggest differences at this point are genetic however - MJ's hand size, explosiveness and athleticism are hard to practice for anyone.

    I think the reason MJ was such a great player was because of his offensive awareness. He knew not only where everyone was on the floor at all times, but he reacted instinctively to them to the point where he could reposition his body in reaction to anything WHILE he is airborne.

    @hangtime23ful - I think those that believe Kobe is better are 1) die-hard Laker fanboys, and/or (more likely) too young to remember when Jordan came into the league. Sorry, there is no comparison. The only comparison that can be made is that Kobe reminds one of Jordan ... he has the same playing style. I can't think of a single argument where Kobe is better. Even the 3p% argument - MJ was a better 3P shooter later in his career than Kobe ever was (MJ was a terrible 3p shooter early on).

    Larry Nance unathletic? He was the winner of the dunk contest in 84' and a great shot blocker not to mention a good midrange shooter and post player. Ewing not athletic? Being athletic doesnt mean throwing down windmills. The funny thing is that all of these players, while not being as athletic as Kemp were fundamentally much better players especially in the post. Barkley doesnt have to answer to Artest hes one of only four players with 20000 pts, 10000 rebs and 4000 assists what has Ron done?

    when you said "The one thing Kobe has is very good range and the ability to hit deep off-balance shots. However, with those kinds of shots comes the price of some loss of accuracy, which has hurt the Lakers at times" clearly states that MJ is indeed the better shooter coz MJ can hit those shots that you said Kobe couldn't and get this ... with better accuracy!

    This video really proves how much better than everyone he was...And if he were to play with the guys in the league now then i still think he would stand out as the best. The combination of quickness, speed, Intelligence, vision, athletic ability, and Awareness make this man the perfect basketball player.

    Pause it at 0:51. HOLY SHIT!!! I always knew MJ hands were ridiculously big, everyone talked about it but you never really see just how big when he is holding the ball. But on that image his hand is just smothering the ball. Looks like an eclipse with MJs hand being the moon! Absolutely in awe!

    MJ is the most athletic and skilled player I've ever seen ... on both ends of the floor. The combination of skill and athleticism on both ends is what makes him so great. No other player in history has reached that level yet consistently.

    Unbelievable video that is a credit to the countless hours I'm sure Hoops has spent on this. I've watched it over a dozen times already. There will never be another MJ. Thanks a million, Hoops. Btw, what's the name of the music track on here?
