Hello Miss Emi, just want to thank you for all that you do for all of us; you are a wonderful teacher and human being all of that patience ,you are truly a Teacher !you are always so kind to all of us, you are really one of a kind: I have learned SO much from you ! once again thank you, sincerely Connie Stephens
Emi, this is beautiful. Thank you for showing and being explicit on how to make this gorgeus sweater for those of us who are not so good crocheters. Your tutorial is very easy to follow for such a great sweater. Thanks again, I am running your pattern off now becaus I am so going to make this!
Emi , totally love this sweater and it looks like it would be light enough to wear even in the summer time at night. I can not wait to get yarn to make one for my self. thank you for making the video and sharing with us all.
You've done it again!. Love this pattern and I can't wait to make this blouse. You always make your patterns so easy to follow that I know I can make this. I have made several of your patterns and they turn out just like they're supposed too. You don't know how it makes me feel when I can make something I am proud of. Thank you so much.
I loved this pull over since I first saw it and am re watching how you made it again , Need a new one for this summer ( 2019 ) lol . It has already been a long year for my husband and I and it just started .
You taught me to turn each row to avoid the slanted seam...so I didn't do that on a pullover I was making for myself and that back seam was walking all the way to my side...at first, I thought it will be in the back and won't be noticeable...but after a while it completely warped the piece...frogged it and moved on, much wiser. Thanks so much for your tutorials :)
This is a GREAT sweater! You provide the most excellent instructions without too much information. Just enough information !! Its always a quick easy learn for me!! thank you so very much for sharing your talent !! I'm going to make it this evening!!
LOVE this pattern, made one, but used a smaller hook (P) using same amount of stitches, adjusted the armhole from 17 skipped stitches to 14. I made this for a child . Fits a 2-3 year old. Can't post pics in this post.
Yes, you could use a bulky yarn... probably any chunky yarns, such as Red Heart chunky: www.amazon.com/RED-HEART-Grande-Yarn-Chianti/dp/B01GPQOMS8/ref=pd_bxgy_201_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=9D1HC7XJ7SKNEDESMCDZ. But the cost would increase quite a bit to make the sweater, which is why I mostly combine 2 worsted weight yarns. (You would need 1/2 the amount of yarn listed on the pattern if you go with a chunky yarn.)
Emi, This is beautiful! Everything that you make is beautiful! I've learned so much from you! Would you please consider doing an easy poncho? Thank you for all that you do! Blessings!
I have a poncho in the works... will probably post it within 10 days or so. I have another big stitch mesh sweater to finish and upload... have to edit the footage, and work up the different sizes to make the pdf pattern first before I can upload.
Looks great! Thanks a lot for doing this. Was looking for one piece sweater for a while. I am not good at reading patterns could you tell me please how many stitches you start with for xl and xxl and how many stitches you leave for arms for xl and for xxl. Thanks.
All that information is in the pattern. It is a very easy pattern to read, I write all my patterns using simple language, no abbreviations as usually found in patterns. Here's the link for the free pattern: shop.hectanooga.com/2017/01/17/big-stitch-3-hour-pull-over-sweater-crochet-pattern/
It's not just one adjustment... all the instructions are in the Free Pattern, click on the icard at the end of the video to go directly to my blog for the free pattern.
The same size hook, Q (US 15). It's usually used for making rugs, but now that I have discovered that it results in a lovely open stitch for garments, oh my.....
Hi there Sarah. This pattern works back and forth, so you must turn after every row. You also must chain 1, otherwise the ends of your rows will dip downwards. The chain 1 is simply to get the hook to the same height as the next single crochet stitch. I hope that helps! Kind regards, Emi.
Hi again Sarah... I'm so sorry, I answered your question as though you were asking about the "BigT" sweater. Reasons for turning after every row:1. The work will not be as likely to take on a twisted appearance2. Without turning, additional rows will need to be worked for the same length.3. It’s easier to insert the hook into the stitch when turning after every row, which adds to your speed.4. The finished garment will be softer and more flexible.
Hi Emi, I have the pattern for this sweater so that I can follow along with the video. I am a little confused attaching the sleeve and making it longer. You said when you started under the arm, crochet around and slip stitch. You did not continue crocheting around in a circular motion, right? If I understand after you crocheted the first row and slip stitch you went back over the row you just completed, is that correct., slip stitch and then turn and go back over that row. I hope my question makes since.
Hi Emi':easy and comfertable .i suffer osteoporosis. so i can't knitting its a wonder for me i want a comfortable and and suitable sweater for me..i can do it ....Thanks Emi...
On your webpage were it tells the yardage to use, for size small the pattern calls for 900 yards. Since it uses 2 strands of yarn, does that mean that it will use about 450 yards of each color? It is for a gift so I wanted to make sure. Thanks :)
I love your sweater how many stitches do I have to increase to make the sweater a 1 x or a 2x sweater Thank you so much for this pattern I'm going to try to make one soon it is so pretty
That information is all in the pattern, click on the icard at the end of the video and it will take you directly to the pattern, where you can download it into your computer for free. All sizes are in the pattern: Adult Small, M, L, XL, XXL, and XXXL
No, unfortunately there is no formula. I have to count how many stitches in the entire pattern, I have to work a swatch to see how many stitches I get per yard, and then I have to multiply the number of stitches per yard by the number of total stitches in the garment. It's a task, that's for sure!
Hi ~ I want to make the 3 hr sweater. The pattern calls for 1300 yards for a medium sweater, or there abouts. My questions is //// is that for each color? - making 2600 yards in total needed? Or is this the total number of yards - 650 yards each color? Thank you for your reply.
Sorry, I missed your comment... I usually turn for 2 reasons... sometimes the work takes on a twisted appearance if you don't turn, and the other reason is that it is easier to insert the hook through the stitch when you turn after each row.
Hi Emi.. I know this is an old video .. I would like to make this sweater in my size but when i click on the i card it says its not found.. Would this pattern sizes be somewhere else? Thankyou have a great day

rmpbklyn: That would be a whole new pattern, because it would require more stitches in the foundation chain in order to have an opening large enough to pass over the head. And then it would change the numbers of stitches for the armholes, and the front and back. BUT, I am working on another video at the moment, which will be easier to adjust, because it's worked flat in a T style. It should be ready to upload in 4 or 5 days. Emi

love this sweater could a bulky yarn be used so there would only be 1 strand if so so what would you recommend?

The same size hook, Q (US 15). It's usually used for making rugs, but now that I have discovered that it results in a lovely open stitch for garments, oh my.....
15 mm that is.
Lovely
Wonderful!

Hi could I make on round needles
Thanks a lot, dear
I am still learning. Can I ask why you chain one and turned and at the end of the row slip stitch to join??
Hi there Sarah. This pattern works back and forth, so you must turn after every row. You also must chain 1, otherwise the ends of your rows will dip downwards. The chain 1 is simply to get the hook to the same height as the next single crochet stitch. I hope that helps! Kind regards, Emi.

Oops... I did not get notification of your message... yes, it does mean the 'total' amount of yarn.
Thanks Emi!!!

How many cahin for xl
How do you calculate the amount of yarn to use for each size so precisely? Is there a formula to it like there is for calculating gauge?
No, unfortunately there is no formula. I have to count how many stitches in the entire pattern, I have to work a swatch to see how many stitches I get per yard, and then I have to multiply the number of stitches per yard by the number of total stitches in the garment. It's a task, that's for sure!
It does sound like a lot of work, it is very appreciated!!!

Muy bonita y facil.
Can you explain why you turn the project instead of going around and around?
