- Relive the 25th anniversary of the 1992 Food City 500 that saw Alan Kulwicki take home the trophy. 2017 Marks 25 years that Food City has been the title sponsor of the spring Bristol race.
Damn this brings back memories. Dad woke me up early and we had breakfast at Ralph's on the edge of Kingsport, then we rode out to the speedway. I was 5 and, like my dad, a Dale fanatic. He surprised me when we got there with pit passes the speedway had given his boss. We walked around looking for Dale but met Kulwicki before we ever found him. When he saw my grandfather's Polish crest necklace I was wearing he told me how much he liked it and that he was a Pole like me, then gave me a hat and signed it.
When Dale hit the wall I was bummed. but when the race started winding down and Kulwicki was leading, you wouldn't have known I wasn't a die hard #7 fan. He became my all-time preferred runner up from then on.
This is awesome. Hope that hat stayed with you throughout the years.
1992 I was 12yrs old. Nascar came to town (Bristol) and they had a big autograph event one nightnin a football stadium. It snowed so we were bundled up like eskimos. We were walking up to the stadium and a big white Lincoln limousine pulled along side me and my little brothers. The window rolled down and we see a big cowboy hat. The King had stopped just for us. Told us something along the lines of 'stay warm boys- see you inside.' That has stayed with me for nearly 30 years.
That night we met Rusty, Davey, Mark, Bill, Sterling, Ernie, Kyle, The King, and just about every driver in the series. Pure magic. Ole Dale always appeared at Food City during school hours and we never made it to see him. Alan would go to Knoxville and Johnson City and mom didnt want us in that "environment."😂
To Richard Petty: that 1 minute is still one of my greatest memories. I wish we could have you here forever.
As a NASCAR fan, I love racing. But I was born in 03, so I don't have chances to experience racing back in the 90's. Thanks NASCAR for the upload
I love the NASCAR's from the early 90's. They sound so good.
This is awesome. To watch a race that was three years before I was born, THE FULL RACE, plus pretty good quality, very cool. I'll keep my eye out for more throw back races. Thanks NASCAR
I was in the crowd there. It was the first race I ever attended
Davey Allison injured his ribs in a hard crash in this race and would win the following weekend at North Wilkesboro, Davey didn't drive the rest of the race so Sterling Marlin, who wrecked early, got in the #28 and finished the race. This was the last Bristol race without the concrete, the night race would see the debut of the Bristol concrete surface.
I love these classic races....please post more
Even one throwback a week would be great! Thank you for this, POST MORE!!!
Nascar should have a subscription based service like wwe network. Show all these old races.
That ESPN jingle takes me back to my childhood. I love this stuff!
This is very cool. Keep posting old races please.
Griffdawg I like your videos
those definitely were the days thanks a million for posting this
NASCAR, please keep posting from the 70’s,80’s,90’s!!! I love these Winston Cup races!
Thank you very much for this upload. Keep these classics coming please.
I really wish Davey Allison had a chance to be the star he could have been. He was an incredible driver and could have challenged Gordon for many championships. its a shame he was taken so young
His mistake was decided to purchase a helicopter and be his own pilot well not enough experience and worst of all landing buy a fence he thought was clear of his blades lost his life instantly brain trauma his wife said don't buy it please hard head allison likes his dad woulda won a lot on the circuit Gordon worst nightmare
The same could be said about Alan Kulwicki. R.I.P. too both of these great drivers.
1:23:07, check out the guy driving the tractor, doing a wheelie, LOL.
NASCAR is easily the most open sport. Thanks so much for posting these to YT!
Damn. NASCARs looked so much better in the 90s. Can we go back to this format? I'll start watching again, honest. Motorsport in general was much more pure then; no gimmicks were needed... And it was much better for it.
Started going to Bristol 15 years ago, this year first night race. As they say ITS BRISTOL BABY

57:24 *car hits the wall* “Man where’s that tire coming from?” “I don’t know” “hmm” 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Fantastic upload. Thanks NASCAR.
59:01 this is a great camera footage!
New asphalt? Wasn't the concrete surface installed for the August race that year?
Leo Ames The promotor at the time had the track repaved 3 times and it kept coming apart so they put down concrete for the August race. Watch the into to the 1992 Bud 500 and Jerry Punch explains this
I'm here for the tractor wheelies.
Coach Gibbs started 0-5 as the head coach for the (then) Redskins. He was 0-5 again as car owner for Dale Jarrett. Like in football, Gibbs appeared to be heading to victory in his 6th start. Dale led late in the race, but Kulwicki used lap traffic to get the lead & the win
In hindsight 2:16:08 gave Kulwicki the title. In later times, any work would have resulted in a one lap penalty, and the crew was already loosening lugs when the official told him to go back.
Golden days of Nascar.
Damn year from this race......93 was the worse just imagine if Davey and kulwicki never had accidents Davey vs Dale, Gordon vs Kulwicki, throw in cry baby Wallace and Elliott the 90's was the best it could have been so much better
This has more views than the radioactive video from darlington lol
Bristols changed so much

I think it's going to be a good year for the 7 car
2:39:47 i like the backsound
Unbelievable! More commercials on a UA-cam replay than the original broadcast?
would Bristol sell out in 2017 if it only has this amount of seats?
SizzleLive No doubt that it would. It currently has 150,000 seats and nearly sells out. Even if it had 125,000 seats it would sell out easy
Josh Jarnagin no it doesn’t I was there in August been going since the 90s It is so empty they could put everyone in one side of the track right down the front stretch. They probably might sell out but there is a ton of empty seats now so I don’t know.
Thumbnail is from 1991
Bristol as an asphalt track was so much better
I love nascar so much and I recommend playing nascar heat evolution
Too bad that game does not accommodate hardcore sim racers. Wait - it isn't even a sim. Fuck it.
I are being mean to me or are you talking about the game
taking about Nascar Heat Evolution. I'm saying it's not even a sim.
Ok just making sure
These races will.never be boring or ever repeated in our life time
ナスカーってこんなフルーい映像流すことあるんだな!

Back when life was good and all the cars didn't look like an ugly camry
I stopped watching Nascar when a Foreign named entered TOYOTA......Our Country sells out too much …..Been 20 years since ive watched modern Nascar.
Ok, but it hasn't even been 20 years since Toyota joined Nascar. But I'm sure you can't count anyway.
If American auto makers can't handle a little competition then what does that say about America? Competition brings out the best in the competitors, who really cares what country it's from. There are much bigger problems with modern NASCAR than foreign auto makers. Your reasons might be flawed but you got out at a good time. Stick to the classics.
