Axl Rose was in GTA: Sanandreas and I think that’s cool af. Especially considering when the time period that game was based in (1992) was also still Axls prime years.
Can't believe that Roman's voice actor didn't get ANY residuals from GTA IV. Now I really feel bad for not going bowling with him all those times that he asked.😩
Most of the things you said was correct but I would really love if you uncover more about the other side of stories like why exactly Ray Liotta had problem or the other voice actors such as CJ or Niko. Actually all they wanted was some extra pay since the game did really well and in Hollywood movies they did get extra cut if movie performs well at the box office and it's nothing wrong to ask for it since they did most of the main efforts as the actors they were the main attractions and video games generally takens maximum effort in terms of mocap and acting plus don't forget that games always year after year generate money were as movie is just a one time go. So all and all I believe actors were right asking for extra cut and Rockstar as a billion dollar company could've easily effort. Our favourite characters like Tommy or CJ or Niko didn't appear in future entries simply because actors ask little bit more for the squeal or just some extra pay and Rockstar refuse because they can.
the reason the modern actors like the ones from Red dead 2 & gta 5 don't complain about their pay like CJ or Niko did is because the laws changed in regards to royalties received from video games
Royalties are still crazy, even nowadays songwriters and compositors don't earn royalties from their own work and labels own everything. It's goddamn crazy
Well I would imagine that hypothetically if I was the voice actor on any rockstar’s games I would’ve had a royalty clause in the contract because I know how popular the game would’ve been
GTA 5s voice actors are just of a generation that understands video games, like know Cara Delevingne plays GTA so she was probably just happy to be there. I know a lot of people (if not all) who play games would love to voice act in a game even if it meant they only got paid in chips.
Danny Trejo is my favorite actor that my dad got me into watching him my brother who is a couple years older than me had bought a PS2 and Vice City from gamestop got me into video games that resemble the ideas for some of Trejo's movies
I wonder what Axl Rose felt being a DJ in GTA SA. Especially since he plays sort of a self parody and at the time he was a huge recluse who never left his house at the time.
Honestly, we need Claude's actor back. Not only was his performance top notch, but he did it for free because of how much he loved the character. A shame they replaced him in Claude's appearance in San Andreas
Seriously, San Andreas Claude overdid the sex moans over the phone when Catalina calls Carl. The focus was on her being a crazy bitch but he tried to moan over her and make it all about him. It was late in production so they only did one take.
@@HuskyGamersUNITE I vaguely remember hearing something like that. Also apparently he played Soap in the original Modern Warfare? It's honestly pretty cool that he got more gigs after GTA. Def one of the better VAs I've seen.
I think it comes down to, well you did like the most significant acting gig in one of the highest grossing things of the year. And all you got was pay to give you a "better off year", rather than like 10-15 years of legit vacation which let's be honest, was kind of literally within your reach.
I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally enjoyed Rickie's role in the game. I'd love if they were to bring back comedy club's in gta.(yes i know split side exists in gta v but you can't watch shows in it.)
Main and supporting actors should be able to receive royalty payments imo or at the very least have a choice like movie actors. Alot of the time a characters performance makes the game, its why we complain when publishers replace voices with celebrities or just new actors. Nolan North, Jennifer Hale, Troy Baker, Michael Ironside, Lance Reddick, etc all do an amazing job with their characters and imo are irreplaceable.
I notice there is no mention of Katt Williams if whether or not he bitched about getting paid less at all. Plus at the time he was at the top of his game as a stand-up comedian and actor.
danny trejo was in both vice city and VCS character umburto robina as well as enriqe from king of the hill cartoon a co-woker of hank hill strickland propane.
Hi Badger, did you know that GTA V Channel X the radio host is a guy named Keith Morris. Who was actually the original lead singer for famous underground Punk Band Black Flag, and Danny McBride was on the GTA V Radio as well along with Famous comedian JB Smoove *Leon from Curb your Enthusiasm*
2:35 I literally got aware of Ricky Gervais as a comedian from this. Knew his name, that's why I bothered watching the show, but GTA IV is where I got an idea of who he is.
I coulda swore Ray Liotta was actually happy about working with Rstar, he just jokingly said he wished he asked for more money and Dan Houser got super butthurt about that cause he cant take a joke. come to think of it, do they have to pay every actor again for the remastered Trilogy?
To be honest, Royalties are an important topic that NEEDS to be addressed properly. If the actors you hired MADE your game a huge success, at least have the decency to let them have their piece of the action as well. ESPECIALLY when your game literally makes so much money, it basically finances your next 3 games and keeps making money like crazy. I love actors and respect their talent a lot so i'd forever be grateful for their participation in making something a huge success.
Surely when you're offered a job you either accept it or refuse. Moaning later on that the people who employed you are making lots of money is not your concern. I think it would be great to be part of such a massive game. I'm sure many unknown but talented actors would be happy to be involved, with or without a vast pay cheque.
Well its more they don't get any information on the size and scope of the game since all the information is on lockdown and they all sign NDA's prior to work. Impossible for them to properly negotiate. Id be pissed off I was only paid 100k to be the main character in a game with a development cost of 100 million which then made 500 million in its first week. Which you couldn't have known since rockstar wouldn't have told him anything. Voice actors in games get stiffed

Tbh it isnt his fault, his instagram and other social media is filled with 9 year old kids asking for gta6
@@MysticalReaper Consider in his position when your instagrams are filled with autistic kids asking about the next GTA installments, be mature and understand the whole situation
Does anyone know what Axl Rose's thoughts on being a radio host in San Andreas were?
It's the most non-Axl job to take but I've never heard about it.
Perhaps he'll be silent for 15 years and then unleash a torrent of shit. Not sure how he feels about GTA though.
Omg I love the end song! That’s DataDyne Extraction ! I LOVE Perfect Dark, a game way way ahead of its time 💜🐻 thank you for bringing back those memories 💜🐻🎅
Made me super happy too!
The guy who played franklin, shawn fonteno, also played as 'grove street families gang member' and is the cousin of the guy who played CJ in GTA SA
Axl Rose was in GTA: Sanandreas and I think that’s cool af. Especially considering when the time period that game was based in (1992) was also still Axls prime years.
Badger your channel deserves more subscribers your videos are top notch love it man
Can't believe that Roman's voice actor didn't get ANY residuals from GTA IV.
Our favourite characters like Tommy or CJ or Niko didn't appear in future entries simply because actors ask little bit more for the squeal or just some extra pay and Rockstar refuse because they can.
by the sounds of it from the other video, CJ's VA is some kind of black nationalist upset because rockstar was a white company
K109 is probably one of my top station picks and has made me appreciate disco genre a lot more. Nice work Largerfeld.
Claude voice actor was a legend
Bootsy Collins deserves a bigger role on GTA Online or next GTA game
It’s soo sad watching this video now after finding out how Steven Ogg feels about Rockstar and his involvement in the game
It is better to be known as something rather than nothing.
Rockstar definitely screwed over Ray Liotta, Young Maylay, and Michael Hollick.
the reason the modern actors like the ones from Red dead 2 & gta 5 don't complain about their pay like CJ or Niko did is because the laws changed in regards to royalties received from video games
Claude speed's voice actor was the best, he did an awesome job without a single complain about his payment
He did complain; but no one heard him.
It seems like they were able to resolve this issue in some way. I don't hear any voice actors complained about working on either GTA5 or RDR2.
Royalties are still crazy, even nowadays songwriters and compositors don't earn royalties from their own work and labels own everything. It's goddamn crazy
I've always found Lagerfeld's concept art weird. It's made in a style much more similar to Vice City Stories's than GTA IV.
The Vice City selection noises overlaying the cusswords are funny
Well I would imagine that hypothetically if I was the voice actor on any rockstar’s games I would’ve had a royalty clause in the contract because I know how popular the game would’ve been
The Ricky One was pretty damn cool
GTA 5s voice actors are just of a generation that understands video games, like know Cara Delevingne plays GTA so she was probably just happy to be there. I know a lot of people (if not all) who play games would love to voice act in a game even if it meant they only got paid in chips.
Steven Ogg has become a popular actor since his role as Trevor Phillips in GTA V/Online
Saints Row 3: No, you can’t kill Burt’s character!!! Donald Love: Are you sure you’re not hungry, Toni?
GTA 1, London, 2 and Advance characters didn't complain.
GTA 4 was my first introduction to Ricky Gervais and i thank them for that. He is one of my favorite comedians.
I believe he said he got paid $100 for the work and was in the studio for like 30 minutes to an hour. lol
@@HuskyGamersUNITE I vaguely remember hearing something like that. Also apparently he played Soap in the original Modern Warfare? It's honestly pretty cool that he got more gigs after GTA. Def one of the better VAs I've seen.
All voice actors should receive royalties. Rockstar was pretty scummy for that
So what I can gather from this video is that they expect them to not complain about not getting paid a lot
Indeed there needs to be more to be done about the legal issues to overcome the pay
That's the reason that Tommy doesn't look like Tommy anymore
Kenny Loggins was about to be a DJ in VC, or at least game was about to consists his song
I would love to see Sarah silverman in gta 6 when they bring comedy back
I’d like to hear how Rockstar’s relationship with James Woods was. I think he is a gamer himself
If Burt wasn't allowed to die for legal reasons, who was sued when he did?
Main and supporting actors should be able to receive royalty payments imo or at the very least have a choice like movie actors.
Alot of the time a characters performance makes the game, its why we complain when publishers replace voices with celebrities or just new actors.
Nolan North, Jennifer Hale, Troy Baker, Michael Ironside, Lance Reddick, etc all do an amazing job with their characters and imo are irreplaceable.
Loggins is my favourite DJ in GTA5.
Nah bro Lee scratch Perry is a monster, logg is good too
I notice there is no mention of Katt Williams if whether or not he bitched about getting paid less at all. Plus at the time he was at the top of his game as a stand-up comedian and actor.
danny trejo was in both vice city and VCS character umburto robina as well
as enriqe from king of the hill cartoon a co-woker of hank hill strickland propane.
Danny Trejo is awesome! I'm such a big fan of his. He has a great attitude and is someone all other Hollywood professionals should aspire to be like.
If not for Rockstar Games and Karl Lagerfield, I would have not heard of Cerrone, producer, writer, and drummer with the song "Supernature".
I really enjoyed voicing Claude in gta3. Thank you rockstar
I never really appreciated Karl Lagerfeld up until shortly before he died.... And that is one of the things i deeply regret in my life.
I can’t lie, I thought this was gameranx lol. That’s how professional (with a hint of fun/informal-ness) this host sounds 👏🏽
Steven ogg seems to enjoy alot while playing as trevor
"BURT FU**ING REYNOLDS!?"
so burt is not ok with dying in video games but hes ok with voicing a german shepherd that dies, ok.
chris chan?
Hamood Habibi your better off not knowing it
@I only speak English listen to the wise man, do NOT go down that rabbit hole. Some things you are better off not knowing.
2:35 I literally got aware of Ricky Gervais as a comedian from this. Knew his name, that's why I bothered watching the show, but GTA IV is where I got an idea of who he is.
Ay i just started watchin your vids bro . Dope video
@Hamood Habibi 😳
@Hamood Habibi 😘
Hamood Habibi you replying to literally every single comment isnt necessary tbh
@@oneblockrubikscube4839 😳
Rockstar did think really hard how to save on voice actors and as a result we have silent characters in online :D
it sucks that lazlow left the company he was the best
Props for that Perfect Dark outro theme.
