Smelling of Kouros or Paco Robanne, refusing to hand over the Burberry or Aquascutum scarf at the cloakroom cos we knew some sly Scouse type would blag it, then into the club for a night of soul/funk and stories of the day's events on the terraces and stations. Getting laid was something else, made us feel 20 feet tall, don't deny it! Never really used the word casual. Trendy at first then moved on to Dresser from about 85 just my personal view as it was different up and down the country. Leeds here mate. Similar to you, first piece of proper clobber was a diamond Pringle in 82 I think. My family were poor as church mice but my Mum got it from someone she knew from church who was in a golf club. I'd been pestering her for it for ages and like you say it must've crippled her to buy me it but that's what they did for you isn't it. After that she let me use a school grant she got for me so that I could buy a Tachinni track suit at £125! My Dad was on £25 a week dole money! They were fantastic time back then though, wearing the clobber, searching for what gear was gonna be the next in-thing, a different adventure every weekend and away games up and down the country. Fear and excitement and just a massive buzz with trouble almost guaranteed every weekend. I was at Brum in 85 what a crazy day that was. Wolves a few times too. Never made it to Villa though. The golden era of terrace clobber, the golden era of Saturday afternoons whether home or away.....and the golden era of the OB trying to keep up as no CCTV those days....LOL...great vid Vokesy.....stay strong mate....
What isn't shown on here is the Stanley knife slashes, the 14 legs all kicking the same head, the guy who needed to learn to read and write again due to being hit with a discarded roof tile on the head, the mob handed thievery from stores, the alcohol misuse, the wanton vandalism. I was part of all that but you know what....I f##king loved it.
I was there guesting with Arsenal in 84' .. you had a well turned out mob that day (I saw your Asian lad Riaz) said it was his favourite .. yes it was a day and a half ..
As a Luton fan we had some great times at Leicester in the 80's, what a mob you had 😉 you were also right up there in the fashion stakes as I recall. I'd pay good money to have those times back 👍
I had a pair of Adidas Sao Paulo's, Lois jeans, Sergio Tacchini polo shirt and Ellesse track suit top for home games. Away games: Diadora with Levi's, Ivan Lendl Adidas tennis polo, Fila sweater and Fila ski jacket. My absolute king of kings was an Australian tennis polo by Alpina that hardly anybody knew what it was and a Cerruti 1881 track suit top. Back in the day all the gear was properly made in Italy or France or Germany and even Fred Perry was still made in the UK. I wouldn't buy the crap Fila makes in Asia nowadays with somebody else's money and up to about 15 years ago Fred Perry was still using quality cotton and making quality polos that could be bought for thirty or forty quid.

Absolutely fantastic video of the best time and era ever!!!!!!! Football players were proper all the grounds were proper, going to a match was simple turn up pay a few quid on the turnstiles! Have as much freedom on the standing terrace with your pals either home or away no restrictions what so ever!!!! Plus feel like a million dollars in your casual dressr eady for anything that came your way!!!!!! Then once the mid 90s came all the proper football day experience had died to all seated grounds and money grabbing scu m!!!!!!! I would go back to the 80s in a heart best cos this day and age is just fucking wrong and souless
Great Sum Up Daniel . No elaboration from me .. Your spot on 👍

Feelings of happiness watching it
But also sadness knowing that these times will never happen again 👊🏻🏴🦁
Thanks Darren , this is our history mate . Proud to have been a part of it 👍
i would say 50% of all of these are Pompey, but even then what a superb collection - thank you for putting them all together
Yes a lot of Pompey as they had the camera back in the day , but no more than 20 percent , I made a point of putting in a lot of different firms
@@petervokes1364 some nice pictures there mate 👍nice seeing a few of our lot the ICF and few of my pals from the Zulu’s and the herd priceless!! A few of our lot have since passed bj the peerman brothers and a few others same as a good few of my Zulu and arsenal pals 😢thanks again mate and I have rainforest Paul hardcastle on 12”😂
Awesome …. Should really do a book with the pictures and letting us know who the people are and what team they are affiliated with ⚽️
Liked the photo around 2 minutes in, lads in a furniture van probably going to an away game.
Done it myself in lower leagues trying to sneak in and park up - mini buses were a dead give away and might be trashed or tyres slashed before the game ended.
Great compilation ..... brings back so many memories
Thanks Mick 👍

Thanks Jules my friend 👍
@@petervokes1364 always pal
What isn't shown on here is the Stanley knife slashes, the 14 legs all kicking the same head, the guy who needed to learn to read and write again due to being hit with a discarded roof tile on the head, the mob handed thievery from stores, the alcohol misuse, the wanton vandalism.
I was part of all that but you know what....I f##king loved it.
Very true
What memories! Best days of my life! Loved watching this and shocked as fuck to see myself on one of the pics, made my fucking day!!!

Surely this was the purest fashion ever: no music, just clothes...
As lads photos go. it dosnt get much better than this collection.
Cheers Brighton , unfortunately I didn't have any West St pics available when I made this .. but they had some really good dressers back then 👍
In Leicester we called ourselves Trendy’s
Loved them days meeting in the snooty fox before football
Great bunch of lads and always game
I was there guesting with Arsenal in 84' .. you had a well turned out mob that day (I saw your Asian lad Riaz) said it was his favourite .. yes it was a day and a half ..
As a Luton fan we had some great times at Leicester in the 80's, what a mob you had 😉 you were also right up there in the fashion stakes as I recall.
I'd pay good money to have those times back 👍
Anybody remember the "Shadies" the term before "Casuals" I'm talking Puma G.Vilas & Ivan Lendl days..😎
Traveling to a football game in the back of a Transit Van 0:43 . I remember those days.
Sums up the early 80's casual look mate and we're both on there. I preferred the look after the sportswear
You were always smart Dean 👍
@@petervokes1364 thanks peter but you was smart mater dresser and grafter

Great Memories..and I use t do England away aswell back then.. nobody could come near..when boys was men..even if some did av dodgy hair do's😆🏴
I'm 57 from Hammersmith and Chelsea FC too.. good old days 😎😎💪💪
One of my photos taken in the Whittington stone archway at 2.59
Goons..
they all look cool as fuck.
