This is just my own opinion. If you love these brands, I'm so happy for you! I should state, that this is specifically for handbags - not SLG's and accessories. I know there are quite a few SLG's from these brands that have caught my eye!

My issue with Chanel and Hermes is not just the price of their bags, but the games that you have to play to be offer the chance to buy one of their bags. If I go into a boutique ready to spend almost 10k on a bag I expect to be treated like a Queen (or at least like a valued customer), and I won’t be in those boutiques.
The puzzle bag is great (sucks it’s being discontinued by Loewe), and Loewe leather is awesome.
YES! Why would I want to play a game just get a handbag with MY hard earned money. It makes no sense.
I just got a puzzle bag from Loewe and their SAs were the nicest I’ve ever met!
The key issue is these brands have the wealthy (multimillionaires at minimum, not a millionaire) dropping 10k USD like chump change. Some can easily spend 50k USD in a blink of an eye within an hr and they are the target population which these brands target. 10k to a lot of ppl is a lot of money which can pay for food, rent or mortgage. 50k - a lot can use the money to survive for a year or two.
I love the authenticity of this video. I have always dreamt of owning a Chanel, but the older and (wiser) I get, the more I realize that I can get more for the money. I've never liked Hermes or Dior. I'm also not a fan of Balenciaga. I really like what some contemporary designers are doing these days. That Coach bag is great!
Coach is definitely on the up and going. They have really came out with some very nice handbags. Chanel is trying to sell a dream, and I refuse to purchase..
You're so right! The prices of a Chanel are more like a nightmare than I dream, and I refuse to be apart of it. No dream should be worth that, and the quality is not what it use to be either. I'll stick with my Coach :)
Coach has some really amazing pieces for the price point. I love that they are getting more recognition - they deserve it!
I will only support brands that respect my time and money. I'm not going to bend down and play their games. Vote with your wallets!

Good girl! Quite some luxury brand followers are lack of self confidence to their own style so they need those stuff to boost their self esteem, which does the opposite to people like me.
I feel the same way! My self worth doesn't depend on the ownership of certain play-hard-to-get bags. I have other things I'd rather spend my time and energy on.
Well, there are people who spends thousand s on bags just to show off. I buy mine to use. Lol. I will never buy something that is way too expensive. Or that a bag that I would just put on the shelves because I might be robbed because of it. I have an MK grainy leather that I use from January to December, rain or shine. It was only 165 euros. I know someone who buys LV monogram bags But just stays in her closet since she is afraid of it being scratched or get wet. I also bought a bag worth 105 euros on line that is way more beautiful and classy than a Never Full from LV. And yes, it also depends on your lifestyle and what you can afford and what really matters to you
Okay YES to another teacher! I feel the exact same way about carrying luxury bags often. It just doesn’t feel like it matches my lifestyle. I even feel that way about LV (maybe just because it’s more noticeable). And I don’t even carry my bags to work (I work in a low income school so I feel even more out of place and it doesn’t feel right). I love having a few luxury bags but not sure if it’s even worth it if I feel that way when I do carry them.
I’m a Louis Vuitton girl all the way. I actually sold some of my Louis bags to get a Chanel and regretted it so bad. I sold my Chanel and got back my Louis. I know that might sound crazy to some. Love your bag collection

I love your honesty with this bag topic. I can see that social media and societal pressures to purvey a certain lifestyle can really pressure people to want to look a certain way or have certain things.

Couldn’t have said it better. I do have a few pieces from some of the brands Tiu mentioned but I buy things because I buy them and they suit my style and lifestyle, periodt. Not to show off or fit in. Thank YOU for this video. Appreciate truths like this in this luxury community 💜 Also, yes to brands like Coach and Furla getting design and quality updates lately. I think they’re to look out for, alongside up and coming brands like Polene, Mlouye, Senreve, Fleuron👌🏼
I really like this video! Great you’re staying true to your style despite the social media influence. I love some of the brands on your will not buy list but that’s the beauty of individual style! More folks need to think about that when making such expensive purchases, it’s something I’ve had to really think about and walk away from my “fantasy self”. 🤣🤣🤣

But I was getting a little ahead of myself with my “wish list “ for this year! And it is ok to carry handbags that are less expensive and may not be deemed “luxury”. It’s all subjective! ❤

Love your perspective on this and I resonate with you point of view for sure. I bought a Chanel mini and quickly sold it after realizing it just wasn’t for me and having had it in my hands I was felt the same as you “I don’t get it”. I also sold an Hermes trim bag as well. Lovely leather but it just wasn’t for me. Now I find it helpful to tune into what is authentic to me and not get swept up in the hype.

I loved hearing your thoughts on this, Lauren! I agree that it would be a waste of money to buy a handbag from these brands, but among the pre-loved beauty options, at least, I've found some great deals! My most recent luxury purchase was from Chanel. I knew I wanted to treat myself to their hand cream, and so far, I'm really loving the product! 😊

Great video! I agree, spending many many thousands of dollars on a handbag doesn’t make sense for me either. I have a wonderful yet small collection (Loewe, LV, Givenchy, Polene, Coach). I’m aiming to retire early so that’s my main focus 😊

I love this video and the very honest opinion of yours. I'm with you 100%. As much as I want to buy a designer handbag, but I know it doesn't suit my lifestyle, if I am going to buy it just to fit in with the group of friends that is more into high end fashion or lifestyle, I better be myself and not pretend that I am one of them. I love this. I agree! I think Loewe is the best luxury bag brand at the moment.
Also, I went to Harvey Nichols the other week and I tried on a lot of bags and the best leather? The coach pillow Tabby. It was gorgeous. I also love Tory Burch. I have a few designer bags, YSL, Loewe basket, a tiny Givenchy i got in the sale, and my ride or die - my Chloe Mini Marcie. The rest are all contemporary or thrifted. I swear that my Tory Burch lambskin bag feels just as good to me as my friends Chanel !

I think the quality is pretty good and they use a lot of the same leather that high end brands do.

You know, the BEST part of this video is your Honesty. The worst part is the concern you have with offending others...THIS should not be a concern when it comes to you liking what you like and disliking what you dislike. I actually Love SEVERAL bags by these fashion houses but I Love them MORE on the prelove market - At a Preloved price. I can't play the games either. I own more Coach bags than any brand...and they are Old Coach too. Don't change Lauren and More important than anything, continue to be Honest and Real....you'll find, there are quite a few of us who still like that kind of thing.😉 Have a wonderful weekend.💛✨

That cute little black handbag reminds me a of a kelly, a peekaboo and ferragamo all mixed into one! I couldn't ever own a hermes or chanel (first of all, i'm out priced but also it does not gel with my lifestyle or the area i live, i would never feel comfortable carrying those!). I have been back into coach and the cassie line has been my absolute favorite.
Love this video I also love how you stay true to you. Yes I feel that spending that amount of money on certain brands is not worth it. Side note I feel that it’s sad you and others have to say keep comments appropriate.

I have the medium madison, and i love mine too. I have several luxury brand bags, and my Bvlgari serpenti bags have by far the best quality and craftsmanship. Also, i can say that with confidence, coach bags rule the mid tier game. I love their leather bags as well.

Hello, yes I completely agree with you. My husband and I bought our first home when we were in out mid twenties as well. Sold it couple of years ago for more then double. We bought a new house and have a big savings now. So yes restate I agree. It’s always nice to have beautiful handbags but I do put limits on how much I pay for them. 😊 thank you the video😊
Yes, I have definitely learned what to invest in now! Handbags are great, but I’d rather have them to wear then to just overpay for investment purposes!

I agree with your comments. If I hadn't bought my lady dior back in 2018 I probably wouldn't be buying one....I mean it's like 2K more. Of course that's a pittance compared to the increases with Chanel...another brand I won't be buying any more of. I just bought a Coach Ruby bag I love at essentially a smoking deal and it's leather and well made. Hermes is another level....I can't do head games to get a bag and I don't want a bunch of useless expensive home goods. Nice summary in your video!

I totally get what you mean by feeling like a "fake" if you were to carry an Hermes bag! It doesn't feel true to who I am so I like to wear bags that feel true to me and how I want to express myself :)
I agree w you .. I have had the Hermes Evelyn.. I worked really hard to buy this bag.. purchased it preloved .. used it for awhile and then I stopped using it.. I was afraid that I would damage it somehow.. sold it and really have no regrets.. there are some great companies out there with great quality leather products ie coach, cuyana, madewell , etc..
Very reasonable prices and great quality.. but I do have to say I love my LV and Chanel slg’s 💕
I've been checking out the a few madewell handbags! I will always love my LV SLG's and continue to buy them...unless the price increases get insane!

This video really spoke to me! Lol, even the bags I have now, sometimes I get nervous about perception. I always want to come off as approachable, but I think seeing someone draped in logo can make people standoff-ish. Most of my luxury is makeup, and no one knows that🤭 I do like Chanel, but I think I would go for a more affordable Vintage price when I’m ready. Appreciate your honesty, and I agree with you on so many points.
Thank you! I definitely feel the same way you do. Sometimes wearing something luxury can be really insensitive depending on the situation ! This is why I love minimal handbags with very little branding.

somehow I missed this video when it dropped! I agree re Chanel. There was a time when I thought about it but that was early 2000s. There’s one high luxury bag that I think is actually really ugly (they’re also varying degrees of large, which is not me) but it has to be the Birkin. The soft ones don’t hold their shape and they look awful after a while. And I personally wouldn’t ever wear one because I think they’re really pretentious and I don’t want to give that impression. I prefer the tiny kelly’s.

I agree 100% with your statement on Hermes. It's almost like saying that they're for a certain type or "class" of people. With my lifestyle, I don't think I'll reach for it often if I had one.
Coach is definitely growing on me, however am I the only one that's disappointed with the pillow tabby? The material of the front logo is just not it. I used the bag like 5 times and there's already marks on the front logo. The material also picks up dirt easily making the mark super obvious.

Same! With my pay scale and short/long-term goals, a Chanel/Hermes purse is insanely out of my scope and not really practical. I bought a McQueen purse - one of my dream bags - and even that I’m not keen on using daily (and that’s no where close to Chanel/Hermes prices). I’m glad I’m not a Chanel/Hermes fan girl or else I’d be in big trouble… err, debt, lol
Yes, practical is the word! The price points and for what you are getting - Chanel and Hermes really aren't practical - especially when there are other priorities!

I love both my Loewe mini puzzle and my recent Chanel WOC purchase but have never been interested in either Hermes or Dior. Like you, I still sometimes buy contemporary brands too. I say buy what you love and works for your lifestyle-we all have different needs and tastes 😊

Hi Lauren, agree with the quality of Loewe. It's superb. Used my Loewe puzzle on a trip to Paris last April. My son accidentally stepped on it so it ended up having black spots. When I got back to my home country, I cleaned the leather with conditioner but I put it on directly so it ended up having lots of water marks everywhere. I panicked coz it's expensive. So I just wiped and the water marks won't go. So I just left it in my cabinet and kept the cabinet open to air it. When I checked on my bag again, voila, it looked brand new. Leather kinda healed itself. 😊

Me, i bought cash a med classic flap chanel to make me feel good cz i got money from insurance when i was diagnosed with breast cancer. im recovered and well now which is i realized more impt than having the most expensive luxury! 🙏 For a moment after that i got a admit i became a liittle obsessed with luxury handbags. You are 100% right that iinvestment wise nothing is better than real state property👍. i also agree with you to buy what you can afford. having Hermes with pile of credit card debt is a shame. When I first started getting into luxury, the Chanel classic flap was my dream bag, and it still is to some extent. But with the price increases, I’m starting to realize that it’s just not realistic for me and I have to be okay with that. Hermes has never been my style…I’m sorry, but I really don’t get it. I don’t get the price point being ridiculous, and like you said, the games people have to play just to get one completely baffles me. Same with Dior…I was never really drawn to any of their styles, until I started looking more at their men’s line, which is intriguing me!! 🤔 But anyway, thank you for this video and sharing your thoughts!! 😊
Yes! Chanel's multiple price increases throughout just a year is enough to turn me off. So many people say they are catering to a certain "clientele"...and I guess I'm just not one of those people!

because of insane price increases, i think about my purchases more. as of now,i'm more interested in bags from contemporary brands. i'm also interested in bags with embroidery and filipino textiles like the ones made by jearson dimavivas ( he made catriona gray's natcos).

Totally agree. The only Chanel bag that maybe I’ll get is the Gabrielle bag coz it’s edgy and feel like it’s a bit different. But again I won’t go running to Chanel. Dior and Hermes boutique experience is totally disrespectful, so yeah not going there
I was in Barcelona and the service was horrible at LV and forget Hermes they don’t even acknowledge u there. We walked out after 5 min. Chanel had horrible inventory barely any summer collection. My best experience was at Loewe. The SA was amazing introduced me to diff styles and the history of the store. They had Picasso on wall etc. I got my first puzzle and Gate. Love my experience at Loewe and the bags I got. Save a bunch $$$ due to detax.

i used to yearn to own more chanel too. i have a few small pieces and one big very simple bag that they discontinued immediately that i still love, gifted to me by my mom, gifted to her by a friend. now, at this age, i know i like things simple, chill, and maybe more rugged in looks, and for one, chanel’s current design does not match my personality. with these extreme luxury brands, people seldom talk about whether the style is a match with their own, and that just screams the manipulative marketing they have brainwashed us with, something like “everybody / every girl wants a classic flap”. i really don’t. it’s so heavy. :(
Great video! I am not a huge fan of spending an obscene sum of money and time on products I am not interested in just to receive an offer to spend more money to buy a Hermes kelly or Birkin.
I, however, am a huge Chanel fan. But, the prices of the items are ridiculous. Lastly, Dior is nice, but not worth the current retail price.
I remember when there would be a price increase once a year. But now, so many brands are making multiple increases, some within in a few months of the last. I honestly can't keep up.
Last yr , I purchased a couple of LV items . Chanel handbags are not too interesting to me, I would like to purchase a pair of sneakers. I like Dior, but have yet to purchase a thing. I’ve been outlet Gucci shopping here lately in Japan. My bags or items I will like will be under 2,000. I’m not over spending just to have an it item.

Does it suddenly become "Luxury" when an item is incredibly overpriced? It seems that in this designation price is what counts-not quality.

Good video. This echoes how I feel. I have a few luxury brand bags but find myself never using them. I don't want to give off the "uppity" vibe as that is just not my MO! I strongly dislike that attitude. The Lord gives, and He takes away. I wear shorts , t shirt and tennis shoes 99% of the time. :)

Trust me you will find here so many people who thinks alike. I never wanted a chanel, hermes. I have my share of gucci, prada, lv and funny enough I go back to coach and demellier..I have the dior book bag..I might have used it twice probably..after seeing so many people carrying it I started not liking it anymore..I guess same with all other brands..with over exposure people are losing interest..and come on we need to stop kidding with ourselves.. I hardly see anyone carrying the brands to grocery or daily work..😅😅
