We went on and bought the 949IG and the last three weeks at Eagle Nest NM have been the very best perch fishing we have ever experienced. My daughter has asthma so having this insulated shanty with little buddy heater has made our weekends amazing. 92 perch between 4 of us (30) limit per license so no we are not over taking , my family absolutely loves the perch fillet’s we get . Eskimo has made our ice fishing the best comfortable experience from a dads point for his kids! Ice fishing gold!
Hey what's up man! Thanks so much for the video that was an incredible review! I just ordered one and can't wait to get it in the mail! Lots of videos will be filmed in this shelter! Have a great year man!!🔥
Glad to hear the video was helpful! I’ve had this shelter for three years now and I have zero complaints! Good luck to you this season! Tight lines my friend!
Excellent review buddy. I noticed you set up the roof first. I find it easier to pop out al walls first, then step inside and pop up the roof. Again, excellent video, thanks again!
Epic video! Thank you! I have a question. What kind of heater can you put in it? Portable generator kind, or a wood stove? I get hungry, and when you mentioned heater, I wanted to start cooking, or boiling snow to make coffee ☕.
Thank you for your kind words! The heat source possibilities for your ice tent are endless! Personally I use a Mr. Buddy propane heater in mine. I’ve seen guys that modify their windows with fire-proof blanket sections to accommodate an exhaust pipe for a wood stove. I’ve also heard great things about portable diesel heaters as well. Good luck!
Great point! Since I published this video, I bought two extra ice anchors as well as two extra straps to secure the remaining two sides. I’ve been anchoring every side down now when I go out and the wind has no effect on it at all!
Do you know the difference between the 949 and 949 IG? I know the “I” is for insulated but gray interior , does that make a difference between gray and black interior? The gray interior is on sale for $319 while black interior is $369?
The differences between the different color interiors is for spearing purposes. Guys prefer the black interior to have the darkest setting in the tent when they spear fish for pike, musky, etc. Great question!
Thank you for the comment! I used a 1/4” drill bit for my pilot holes and it worked great! I will be honest, I recently purchased an ice anchor adapter from my local Walmart for 6-$7, and it was soo worth it! It makes putting those things in soo much better.
Thank you for the comment! I am in my second ice season with this tent and I truly enjoy it! After having some experience with this product, I can tell you that it holds great heat. I do notice on some really cold mornings, when I run my heater, the walls and ceiling develop a decent amount of condensation build up that eventually goes away over time. Other than that, it gets the job done for around 2-$300!
@@fueltheadrenalineoutdoors4529 okay thankyou!, I just wasn’t sure if I needed to buy the 949i but sounds like this one does great so I’ll save some money buying this one. Great review
your carrying a drill with a bit locked in it around in the same bag as the shelter? jeez man thats pretty careless. if i pay 500 bucks for something id be pretty pissed if i put a hole in it because of that. sheesh
Nice observation! I’ve owned this shelter for three years now and no holes. It seems that everyone has their own way of doing things. Sometimes it’s better to “care-less” and keep unvalued opinions to yourself. Thank you for tuning in!

Good review but I always do a guy line anchored to the loop on each wall so whichever way the wind blows it won't knock the walls in

Very informative liked very much just got one 👍
Thank you very much for your kind words!

No sir. This was just an honest review of my purchase! Thank you for checking it out!

Who is spearing for Muskie? My friend at the DNR wants to chat.......
@@leadboots72Indians, you know the same dudes with 30 tip ups, no slot limit and spearing all the spawners in spring.
What size drill bit did u use?

@@fueltheadrenalineoutdoors4529 been looking all over for the tool all sold out 🤦🏿♂️
If I want to purchase one of these in Ottawa the cheapest I shaw was $429.99 at Trails is that a good price for this model
Thats what they go for pretty much everywhere unless you find a sale, 430 for standard, 550 for insulated
I purchased my FatFish 949 non-insulated from Amazon last year for around $270 shipped to my house. This same unit sells on Eskimo’s website for $300.
@@fueltheadrenalineoutdoors4529 USD vs CAD pricing unfortunately.
yeah i live in ottawa too and shacks are hard to find cheaper. If it's $429.99 canadian for the insulated version thats a good deal
How well does this hold in heat?

The drill switch can be set to "off", not your worry.
