The EUC is such a underrated form of transport. I have been a privileged participant since 2019, and I haven’t looked back. Thank you for publicly stamping the king of wheels.
The king of wheels??? Didnt get that part... But yeah euc is not looked in the right way when is super safe for what it can offer now.. I remember in 2017 when i started and looking back is incredible how much it evolved
That’s exactly why I don’t have a skateboard because of the disconnection between the controller and the board. I love the connection I feel from my body to my electric unicycle. Many times I describe it as being one with the wheel because that’s what it feels like amazing.
If you have not already, try a OneWheel, not as a replacement but as something different. Lots of fun. You're not going to keep up with the fast crowd, that's EUC territory, but for just low and slow cruising/carving its tough to beat.
@@oldretireddude I have written a one wheel and a skateboard and although they have there place but nothing can beat the EUC for overall fun Speed and portability. Wiggling through a trail with super tight trees that you almost can’t squeeze between cannot be done on anything other than an EUC. I just found that out LOL
One big reason I switched from Eskate to EUC is comfort and stability at high speeds. In my city there are so many imperfections on the roads and sidewalks. Having to install some Pneumatic air tires just for a bit of comfort was too high a price for me. Never mind the maintenance and range anxiety.
Personal mobility. Manual for many years. Now for electric: skate unicycle and bike. One disadvantage of an euc is that it's solely needing juice. My board being a hub I can push it. My bike being pedal assist, I can pedal. My euc, just becomes luggage with no electricity(hardly happens with planning) But you nailed it, an EUC you become one and a full extension of you.
True a eskate is still ridable with hub motors and a ebike basically becomes a bike but you're underestimate the increased rolling resistance on those hub motors. When they're dead they still have resistance to them not to mention they're heavier than their non electric counterparts. Kicking and pedaling home is definitely still possible, but it's a miserable experience. Depending on the distance and your fitness level you're better off walking unless you're going downhill. Besides walking home with a euc isn't a big deal. They typically still have enough power to balance so you can comfortably walk it home
Yeah that is also true the other day we had an issue on a esk8 my friend had to take off a rope to walk in and take the belts ontherwise the wheel was turning on
I have over 1500 miles on my eskate. I commute daily on it 13 miles round trip in NYC. Everything said in this video about ekateboards is true to my experience. I have been on the edge about buying and EUC to commute with, but with how accurate the observations in this video are about eskate, I'm trusting Marco and getting an EUC.
Hi bro I’m even thinking to just sell all my esk8s is rare to ride them and this week I went on one and one of the plugs of the control board broke and the remote lost connection and I almost broke my finger I have 30.000km more or less on eucs and is rare the accident that I had not the same with esk8
Have you ever tried a mountainboard with straps it solves most of the issues u have with esk8 can ofrode is water proof is faster has longer range more fun etc I built my own don’t regret it
No never bro… that I never tried. The most important is that you found the solution for you man and thank you so much to share your thoughts on this you will be helping the community
I just want to mention something that surprisingly wasn't talked about in the video which is really important, which is price A solid entry level electric skateboard costs around $400, with 40km/h top speed at 20km range (Wowgo 2S MAX) A solid entry level electric unicycle costs around $550, with 25km/h top speed and a 25km range (Inmotion V5F) So electric skateboards are generally cheaper to get into.
Hi there thank you so much for your comment… yes money is relevant but it depends on each one… so 400 can be a lot for someone and 1000 can be nothing for someone else for that reason I don’t review costs
@@MADpack Cost being subjective is valid, but you should still include it in the video for informative purposes. Be comprehensive about information, and let people draw their own conclusions based off of needs and budget.
I talked about range in general because you can get a scooter that have a lot of range but is super expensive like a esk8 when we talk about efficiency EUC first place and bike since you can pedal if doesn’t use as much batter also
I have all of them except for a onewheel and I always just default to my EUC. It's just the most convenient and capable machine. Eskates are fun but aside from the small wheels the fact they never really feel like they're a extension of your body. I've almost eaten shit after accidentally brushing the acceleration on eskates. If you're not braced for it a skateboard will throw you off where as a self balancing wheel will always move to catch you. Like you said foot numbness is a big issues on eurathane wheels. Even soft and larger diameter cloud wheels will leave your feet numb after a while.not to mention you need nice roads and off roading is limited to very compacted dirt roads on. There's mountains boards to but the turning radius on them still isn't as great as eucs not to mention the long profile and low clearance can scrape the ground or hang you like a beach whale. If you ride one you need to know the exact conditions of the area you're riding
It really depends what sort of road and terrain you mostly ride in. EUCs are more comfortable, especially ones with suspensions and you have both your hands free due to not having to hold a remote in one hand. Eskates are usually much lighter so if you have to deal with a lot of stairs then eskates under 25lbs would be ideal. In terms of safety, it really depends. Riding rough roads and in a location that gets wet a lot, EUCs would be safer. If you need to bail, it's much easier to get your knees pretty much down to the road and just slide out on an eskate. Yeah, road rash will suck but it dramatically lowers the height and reduce impacts, which is really what injures and kills people. EUCs are much harder, at least for me, to get that low, so there will be impact force involved when crashing, which can be pretty dangerous. As for range, it is 3 years since this video now, so long range eskates now have 60 to 100+ mile range so it's not that much of an issue anymore, although these eskates are 50lbs or heavier so then they're not that light or portable anymore.
100miles of range with an Esk8? Come on even 60miles how many Esk8 are able to do? Stairs a Esk8 is better? Euc can just glide down you just need the skills. The get low I didn’t understood but when you say that Esk8 do +100miles so more 140km range or we live in different eras or I don’t know what I miss it because I still work with the most famous brands and until today never had a skateboard doing more than 50km of range. Hope you have a great day
@@MADpack no it's true. Look up SKP Magnetic. Anything with a 10p or 12p can do it if you're riding like 15 to 20mph. When I said stairs I mean carrying them up and down staircases for work commutes and such. Do you really not understand or are you uninformed? I am very well informed since I group ride a lot, see a lot of different PEVs, go to esk8 con and races. If you want to talk DIY, then 100 mile range is even more common.
@BN99239 exactly 15 20 miles max speed to get range I can go 50miles per hour on a euc and do 100miles no issues and you said there are plenty of Esk8 that can do 100miles and now they are DIY so not a lot you need is to make them yourself and yes that’s possible but you need to put street tires per example to increase range, control your speed and having a super heavy Esk8 do be able to do that… I’m also well informed I do this for 6 years :) and worked with almost all Esk8 brands :)
@@MADpack DIY is just an example. Like I said, SKP have boards that can do it and in terms of speed it really depends on individual riders and their comfort level. To me 20mph is a nice cruising speed for commuting. If you want to nitpick then we can do that. You said that you've never had an esk8 more than 50km of range. Plenty of those do exist. Not sure why you're so offended, I never said esk8s were better. There are use cases for each. Esk8s are more portable like I said. Easier to carry the lighter ones around in and out of buildings or up and down stairs inside buildings. In terms of safety, if shit hits the ceiling, it's safer to bail on an esk8 because you can just drop down as low as you can and let your knees hit the ground first and slide out that way. On an EUC, all you can do is step off, in which case you're pretty high up and just more prone to injuries.
Brovo! As you point out, these discussions should be about how the various PEVs compliment each other, not which is better. They do not serve the same purposes even though their purposes do crossover in areas. For me it is the Inmotion V8F and the Future Motion OneWheel Pint.
Seen the crashes on EUCs, you have way more confidence than on a esk8, and that's the downfall. You are no more protected, esk8s limit your speed and thankfully so IMO. Until we have seperate bike lanes etc. None of these are feasible in Australia. One, anything electric, bike, skateboard or EUCs is limited to 25kmh on backstreets, and not allowed on +60km limit roads at all. Paths limit is only 10km. So not at all practical here. You won't even get to any decent speeds, without braking the local laws. Which sucks of course, but that's where we are.
Wish you atleast compared apples to apples with, EUC with air tires with eskates with air tires, urethanes and airless do not make a good comparision in my book as a lowend board can be a tenth the price of a EUC
