Ahh thanks mate ❤️❤️ Pretty proud of this video, usually it takes me months to make one but I put this together in less than a day including all the training, filming, testing and editing
@@ActiveIdeas That's impressive mate - thanks for the dedication and the incredibly useful review! Was on the fence on buying it but your review sold it.
Great in-depth video! But I have a question. Would these be comfortable while wearing glasses. I am interested in these for running and cycling. But I wear prescription glasses, and comfort is a key point for me. Thank you for your time!
Thankyou for dropping in with a comment! Awesome question and it’s something I asked myself as soon as I realised I hadn’t tried it 🤣 I just tried the WING’s on with glasses and it was comfortable and didn’t feel weird. I put the Wings on first, they sat deep in the groove of my ear. Then I put my sunglasses & running glasses on and they fit great, sitting just above. Bear in mind it’s midnight and I’m stationary, so I think it’ll be great for cycling (not much head movement).. not sure if running/gym will be different so I’ll test this out over the next few days for the full review 🌟 Hope this helps 👊🏽
Listen to a lot of exercise/active lifestyle product reviews and this one was absolutely terrific - covered all the points I could have asked for with the right mix of in-depth/quickbites. Been thinking about getting this kind of audio device for a moment now - especially for my kid who loves to run to music here in NYC. Two follow up questions I have after watching this video... 1) Comfort - you covered that a bit with Mecalah(sp?) but didn't comment as much on this from your personal perspective. Would love any feedback on possible pressure point related discomfort. Somewhat related to this - can you comment on how it was to wear these with a bicycle helmet on? Were there any issues in terms of fit or your helmet interacting with the form factor? thanks!
Thanks for taking the time to write such a lovely comment! Means a lot and we’re only getting started here at active ideas so lots of room to grow! 🔥 Sounds like a good use case scenario for the streets of NYC to stay safe whilst enjoying music! I miss NYC! Got to visit when I was 18, can’t wait to return! 1) Comfort - I’ve worn aftershockz before (I think about 4-5 years ago) and struggled with pressure points, a good fit and general comfort so sold them on eBay. My personal opinion is that in my 3-4 hours of wearing them yesterday they were extremely comfortable, the lightweight factor and good designs helps. Also, im a very fussy person if that adds any weight to my opinion 👍🏽 Full review on that when I’ve had more time to test! 🔥 2) Cycling - I haven’t been cycling much this past year so, not being used to it, It was starting to feel like a lot on my head with the cycle-cap, helmet, and then these headphones on top of that.. but I’d say no different from when you’re wearing glasses; and still comfortable with full access to the buttons and controls. One thing I didn’t try is glasses + helmet + Suunto Wing.. I’ll add this to the full review 🌟 All the best! And thanks again for the support 🙏🏽 Kingsley, Active Ideas
The watch in this video is the Suunto Vertical! It has music control features so you can use watch to skip, pause, next and volume. All of these controls are possible on the headphones themselves though 🔥
I’m looking at getting these. Nice review. When you were in the gym did you find that you needed to use the ear plugs too? I currently have airbuds and they’re ok but I like the idea of the bone thing. I’ve never used anything like that before.
Cheers mate! So without earplugs In the gym and other loud environments you can hear your tracks clearly. My mum had music blasting in her kitchen whilst cooking and I was able to hear my own music more and hold down a conversation. I wouldn’t say this is ideal or enjoyable though and would definitely recommend ear plugs in these situations for a more immersive experience 👍🏽 These really do shine more in an outdoor environment I would say. 🌟
@@ActiveIdeas thanks again! Air pods are ok, but when I’m working out sometimes they fall out. I think I’m going to give them a try. I’ll put them on my Christmas list! 😉
I had issues with AirPods staying in my ears too.. one product I’ll vouch for staying in my ears are the Amazon Echo Buds 2.. I hate all the Alexa stuff, forcing you to download and use it but they sound good were only £50 and come with ear wings. Could do CrossFit with those bad boys in and they wouldn’t fall out haha
Great review! How is the sound comparing to Shokz Openrun Pro? Can't decide which ones to get. Can you hear cars well when playing music, especially at higher volume?
The sound quality is great for bone conduction! I unfortunately haven’t yet tried AeroShokz latest headphone. With the wing you do get the rear lights, unreal battery life, quick-charge and the novel battery pack feature.. really good for ultras if you’re into endurance running 👌🏽 You can hear cars but at max volume I would say it’s hard to hear your surroundings unless there’s a truck approaching you 🤣 I haven’t used these at all at max volume.. 50-70% is more than loud enough for me 👍🏽 There’s definitely a sweet spot which can be found where the environment can still be heard (for safety) as well as a good volume of music 👊🏽 Hope this helps.. it’s so hard to explain. I might do an audio demo in my next video of the Suunto Sonic vs Suunto Wing 🌟
Thank you for a quite detailed reply. Still interested in sound quality comparing to Shokz Openrun Pro. Some people say Shokz OP provide better sound. I like the design of Wings more but sound quality is the key selection criteria for me.
@ds77777 I have heard this a lot tbf. I’ll try and get my hands on some Shokz. I guess price comes into it too.. if you’re not too fussed about the bells and whistles on this one might be worth comparing the Suunto Sonics to the Shokz Openrun Pro
How do you feel about the Suunto vertical? I know the step counter adds arm movement as steps compared to garmin and coros it adds overv4000 steps in a day. So my concern is whet about calorie loss? I also did a 3mile hike and my coros 3.08 miles and my wifes Apple watch 3.07miles were dead on but my suunto 3.17??? So who's right ?
I really enjoyed using the vertical, it would be my go to for when any serious navigation was needed and I needed the battery life too. Unfortunately, I’m not too sure with the steps.. I’ve managed to clock steps sat driving my car with all sports-watch brands so I treat it more as a ballpark figure 👍🏽 In terms of distance, there are so many variables which can be causing this. And different watches will be more accurate on a variety of different tests. However, in my testing I generally found both the Suunto & Coros to be extremely accurate. Suunto was king for precise pinpoint location. Coros wasn’t too off.. next was Garmin and then in last place my Apple Watch ultra; which was well off (relatively)👍🏽 Hope this helps 🌟
With the Suunto wing you will need your phone or a watch that is capable of streaming. I always bring my phone with me (back pocket) then use the Suunto Race music controls to switch between tracks. If you have a Morden Garmin watch you can connect it to Suunto wing and stream Spotify music without phone.. if you have a Coros you can play music without phone but only the mp3 format. Hope that’s helped ❤️
Unfortunately not! But it is compatible with a multitude of devices. So if you use it with a Garmin for example.. you’ll be able to store music on your watch, leave your phone at home and then connect to Suunto wing to play music on the fly 🪰
Huge failure with my Iphone...Music lags to the point where it randomly stops and starts. The vibrations are not tiny as he puts it, when you put the volume up they freaking vibrate. The customer service is very lackluster at Suunto...So Good luck with that. Suunto customer service advice me to disconnect everything from BT and have my phone forget all my other Bluetooth devices...which I can not do because I have some very important medical devices that use Bluetooth. I purchase a pair of these because they were the only ones that had the Aptx Low latency protocol. So, basically they just sucked and the low latency didn't even matter in the end, really. The Shokz Pro don't have Aptx LL protocol which is why I went with this set instead, big mistake. It's a real shame because the construction of this headphones seems like they are very well made.
Sorry to hear you’ve had lots of issues mate ❤️ I’ve been using the Suunto Wing with the IPhone 15 and have had zero connection issues and especially no latency issues.. it seems like something is wrong? Either a faulty phone (maybe the Bluetooth chip is broken) or faulty headphones (although this seems unlikely if you’re also experiencing this issue with ShokZ). I’d suggest getting someone else to pair to your Suunto headphones and shokZ headphones to see if they experience any issues too. If not, you’ll know it’s your phone 👊🏽

Great video! thanks for the detailed review
Thanks for dropping by Mark! All the best 🔥👊🏽
What do we all think? Was you expecting Suunto to do this? ALSO, what aspects of the Suunto Race would you like me to test for the next video? 🙈
Great in-depth video! Loved the real-life review and huge respect for getting out in the rain to test the headphone out on bike and running
