      Hello Seniko! Thanks for caring about our animals. He was okay and just making his way across town. I have another video of a big male koala climbing over a barbed wire fence. He was also looking for a lady friend!! Check it out and thanks for watching!

      @@Stan-at-KangarooIslandTV He looks like he's had some burn therapy? There are scars around his nose and his right eye, and on his back leg. I couldn't see well enough to count his claws. I'm guessing that he likes humans bc they helped him to become one of the hundreds of lucky survivors in that amazing months long rescue last year. And his girlie, ofc :) I hope he sires many happy joeys :)

      @@XenaBe25 yes we have a lot of bush land and forests ideal to koalas and not many people - which is the opposite of the mainland

      Yes true on the mainland but it’s a unique situation on the island where koalas have proliferated since being introduced in the 1920s. We are a bit of a koala sanctuary!

      Thanks Heiko - it’s a complex situation. Koalas are not native to Kangaroo Island but were brought over here from the mainland in the 1920s by conservationists. The koalas have done very well here as they have lots of trees and open space, but we did lose many thousands in the recent bushfires, which is very sad.

    He needs help otherwise he would not be where people are. Probably looking for a food, water and a place to call home. This is a dangerous environment for him in the city with unfriendly dogs, careless automobile drivers and such. Please call and have animal care check on him at the very least.

    Don't want to see the stupid people stuffing their faces, the koala is far more beautiful to watch, poor chap was lost and couldn't climb the tree because the bark kept coming away and all that idiotic woman did was to laugh at him, who on earth wants to look at humans who have totally wrecked the planet, give me animals any day and especially koalas

    If this event was held recently, why aren't any of the attendees wearing masks? When you're talking with people up close, even outdoors, masks are necessary. I'm not in Australia, so maybe the rates in your area are lower, but please be careful. Here in the US, rates go down in areas (well, they used to), and they'd reopen too soon and then the rates shoot up to higher than before.
    Thank you for the koala footage. I wish we had them wild in America, instead of just a few in zoos. He's a beautiful boy.

      Hey Amy!! It’s a crazy world isn’t it! Yes this was taken on Australia Day on Jan. 26 which is kind of like your thanksgiving day except we have a barbecue instead of turkey! We stopped coronavirus at the start of the pandemic and then closed our borders so we are only having a handful of cases pop up when it escapes out of the hotel quarantine system. Citizens and any essential workers who come to Australia have to go into a hotel for two weeks at their own expense. So we only have to wear masks when there is a local outbreak. We have not had an outbreak in our state, South Australia, for several weeks. When any state has an outbreak, even just one person, we go into lockdown and close the borders to other states. The system has worked well and we can all live relatively normally lives. I feel very sorry for everyone else in the world. What part of the states are you in? I lived in the US for 8 years and went to college there. Stay safe and keep wearing your mask 😷 ps the koala was all good, he was trying to get a lady koala in the next tree. We lost many thousands in the wildfires last year sadly but we have lots on Kangaroo Island as they are not native on the Island and have bred up in huge numbers. That’s a whole other story!

    • @1111amyg
      @1111amyg 3 роки тому +1

      @@Stan-at-KangarooIslandTV Thank you for letting me know. I'm glad you all are doing well and that explains why no masks were needed. I'm in California, so we have mask mandates (that many still don't heed) and certain types of businesses are closed. It's a mess here, but I'm lucky to live in a more sensible state. Iowa, for instance, is lifting all restrictions on Sunday...like the pandemic is over. My country is responsible for 20% of the worldwide deaths. You are doing it correctly over there. With our new administration in office, things will get better. Now, I wonder if Mr. Koala found his girlfriend? I became hooked on koalas when I saw the fires and the lady who took her shirt off to help Louis the koala. It's good that there are so many people who want to save them and their habitat. Such sweet animals! Take care and stay safe.

      @@1111amyg masks are not necessary on a fresh air at all. 🤦
      And how do you want to eat with a mask in your face?🤦 It makes sence only in hospitals or something like this.

    • @1111amyg
      @1111amyg 3 роки тому

      @@zoerhineland5183 I guess it depends on where in the world you're at. Some places are doing alright and they can do without the masks, like in this video. Where the rates are high, then even outdoors a mask is necessary if people are close together. We saw the rates go way up from the summer protests and the political campaigning rallies, most being held outdoors (I'm in America). Just be careful. I've seen your comments on other koala videos and I wouldn't want a fellow koala lover and supporter to get sick. The koalas need you! Stay safe.
