The defendant proudly said "No, I didn't call her," and smirked his entire way through the case. He meant EVERY SINGLE WORD he said to her in those messages. He didn't regret saying them, he regretted that she read them out loud and even that his grandmother saw them. What an awful person, and the sad thing is, they probably will make him a police officer.

To me, NOOOO, you don't get rid of the dog that you had for six years and is being attacked by the new dog, you return the new dog and respect that it was there first. @@angelanelson2275 How can you be so sure of that??
If that couple live together, which it sounds to me like they do, from the defendant bragging about how he makes so much more money to give the dog a better home and the fact that the Aunt signed the dog over to him on their notorized agreement but the dog is legally registered in the girlfriend's name. And if his behavior and treatment of his cousin, the Plaintiff, is any sort of representation of how he really is as a person and the girlfriend accepts that behavior by staying with him... In my opinion, they are too immature, selfish, and cruel and are probably not the best pet owners. Just like the Judge said, the amount of money you make is completely irrelevant and doesn't determine how you care and provide for your animal. That couple are just nasty people and it shows. To treat your family member like that, create all of this drama between your family and, even worse, to find it amusing and was seemingly enjoying the Plaintiff's desperation and heartbreak... Truly awful. I just pray that they do actually give that dog a good home but my hopes aren't too high for that, unfortunately.

She did want the best for the dog, hence her keeping the dog in a place that had more room. Times are tough, and she was in a rough spot in her life. That doesn't mean it was OK for her family to give away her dog.
They won because all paperwork and the such were in her aunt's name, when she should have did everything herself (bought the food, went to the vet, etc) to show she owned the dog. And my heart goes out to the plaintiff girl, but I think her grandmother was right, she had a lot on her plate. Hopefully the plaintiff makes peace with the decision. At the end of the day all I care about is the dog and it's wellbeing. She lives in a trailer with multiple cats and other animals and a baby... Id rather the dog end up with someone who has the space and backyard for it to run around. It's a Greyhound dog! They love to run. I didn't believe it should have gone to her either.
