  • New generation of popular crossover wagon ticks almost all the boxes 👉 Full Review: www.carsales.com.au/editorial...
    The Subaru Outback has been a smash-hit with Aussies for decades, combining the practicality, flexibility and all-terrain capability of a large crossover SUV with the refinement and dynamics of a family wagon.
    Now the sixth-generation 2022 Subaru Outback - tested here in mid/high-spec Sport guise, priced from about $45,000 - attempts to improve on that formula, but is it simply an exercise in compromise? Scott Newman investigates.

    Love our 22 Outback Touring, perfect for my young families needs. Huge cabin space and drive comfort is lovely. Loads of extras, looks good on the road and a nice alternative to other more plain mid-size suv's. The engine is definitely suffice for my family orientated driving style and tows the 5m alloy boat like its not even there. Reasonably priced given the features in comparison to market competitors.

    I wanted the sports trim in green colour shown in the video. But when I saw the green and test drove the sports version, the experience was different.
    The green looks amazing in videos but did not look as good when I saw it in person. I chose the Storm Grey(looks like blue) instead.
    Also, the seats in the sport version got hot quickly against my back. Could be the material, I don't know. My wife also had the same experience. I chose the Touring model eventually for leather seats and sunroof.
    The car is very very comfortable. The safety features are top notch. The outback already saved me a ton of money when I almost hit a car while reversing in a parking lot on a rainy day and I forgot to check the reverse camera. I was surprised how a car this big can turn on a dime. Also, the big talking point is the engine. I have felt that the car lacked power occasionally, may be once or twice in a month. But the rest of the times, it serves very well. The trick is not to punch the accelerator, just relax and let the weight the of your foot do the job.
    Loving it so far.
    PS: The sport trim looked the best to me on the exterior, even better than the Touring.

    I own the previous model. Pros : The outback is super comfy bcoz of its long wheel base + very good safety features like subaru eyesight.. value for money . Cons : under power.. doesnt help overtaking or sudden launch , Subaru service is very high - as the dealer will come up with reasons to charge you for some extra part sale when you gove it for service. Also when you give it for service make sure you do the walk around check WITH the dealer and then hand over the keys for service. Subaru Bundoora Service gave me back my car after Service with a deep dent and told me it was there before. my bad i did the walk around check by my self before I gave then the key.. I was 100% sure that the dent wasnt there as I did the check before i gave the key for service :( never going back to Subaru or subaru Bundoora again. they lost my respect. My friends wont be going there as well as they are charged with so many parts during service.

    Why would this be considered an SUV when it's clearly a wagon? A Subaru forester is an SUV and very clearly looks like one. Wish Subaru Aus weren't so stupid, Subaru Liberty wagon with this gen would look awesome, like a more aggressive levorg. Shame their CVT's are shite

    • @cruiseadmiral
      @cruiseadmiral 2 роки тому

      Technically an SUV is a raised wagon with AWD. That is what the Outback is. ua-cam.com/video/jcmrQe9qWkM/v-deo.html

    Agree about the Eyesight system - it’s not very good, it’s ageing and it shows - even a 2022 MG will keep in Lane far better - the Outback’s system will often not ‘see’ anything - if the sun is in the wrong place, the rain is too heavy or the window isn’t perfectly clean - it just stops working. The collision assist will recognise phantom objects and slam the brakes on. The Driver ‘alert’ system never stops complaining unless you hold your head perfectly straight at ALL times - sadly, you can’t permanently disable these features - you have to deselect every time you start the engine. As for the engine, I agree, the 2.5 is noisy and breathless and very, VERY thirsty. All in all, Subaru strikes me as a dying brand, old technology, old engines, clinging onto their AWD ‘USP’ that in reality is bettered by most others - they’ll cry ‘ours is symmetrical’ who cares? The engines and gearboxes are horrible, slow, noisy, inefficient. I hate my Touring model - not least because on top of all of the above flaws, it’s riddled with build quality issues for which it has spent half its life at the dealer. Avoid!
