Its probably thanks to stories like this and watching the brave little toaster that I developed my love for older machines and hardware. I try to never throw things away and find use for them. Just because something is considered old or “out of date” dosent mean the object doesnt still have use or value.
Yes she was. The Rev Teddy Boston who was the Rev Awdry’s friend was also a railway enthusiast. He helped save Fiery Elias from scrap and that became the basis of this story
@@parker-boy98 All locomotives are referred to as she even if the name is a male name. For example, Flying Scotsman is a male name but the loco is still referred to as a she I don’t call every locomotive as a she anymore as I feel it’s kind of weird to refer all locos as she even if the name is male Now I either refer to them as an it or to the genders according to their name. For example, I would consider No.3 Captain Baxter to be male and Hunslet No.686 Lady Armaghdale to be a female engine
@@parker-boy98 they did that for the Narrow Gauge engines, kept Donald and Douglas their original colours instead of painting them blue at the end of The Deputation
I love this story. One of the best stories in my opinion
"Thanks for keeping your promise, Bertie. You're a very good friend, indeed."

These stories in addition to Edward’s Exploit is the reason why IMO Edward is the leader of the NWR fleet in the books.
Many thanks to both you and Buster :-)
Wasn't the 'Fiery-Elias' traction-engine, owned by Teddy Boston, also saved from scrap, too?

2:10-2:17 "You have a child fetish and it’s not healthy!" said Edward.
Yeah, like I saw a video who made took it took far. I don’t know why Wilbert put that in, maybe he doesn’t know that line was too off?
Trevor loves children so much
2:17 Thus the Trevor children joke was born!!!
This story was adapted into an episode of series 2. Thomas, who was absent from the story, appears in the model version.
Edward the blue tender engine
the good ol' Fowler Engines
Fowler? He's a Pettigrew K2
Olan Kenny
That, or a LMS 2P, which would make him Fowler again.
I always saw him as a 2P.
well, Awdry's model of Edward WAS a 2P
Edward is a K2 Class steam locomotive from the Furness Railway. He had a rebuild which is why he only slightly resembles the K2
