Good video, as for the build up of water in the enclosure when using a mister you can setup your substrate in layers. Use hydroballs, followed by a layer of thin mesh, then whatever medium you prefer (coco bark/potting soil/reptisoil) and some leaf litter. This will mimic a natural substrate while giving the water a place to drain to and evaporate while keeping the soil from becoming soggy.

I would only do an enclosure like that if I was doing a bio active style. Which is something that is definitely planned on for in the future!

I’ve heard even automatic rainfall/ mist systems are bad for reptiles due to bacteria build up. Thoughts?

Well I would run a cleaner through it to help with the buildup!

If Anyone is building a Monotub for growing Mushrooms a fogger is the preferred way to go because the fogger will distribute moisture much more evenly throughput your substrate I've gotten much better flushes in my in my experience. too much moisture sometimes will creates mold by your 3rd sometimes 2nd flush.

When you made this video, did you have a "bioactive" setup in mind, with live plants, etc.? I ask because I wonder if live plants would help a little to deal with some "over misting". I am planning out a emerald tree skink enclosure with live plants included. Not yet entirely sold on the notion that I need a mister AND a fogger. I'd like to try just misting first. I am thinking about building out the complete enclosure sans reptile first, then running it for a month or so, misting only, to see if the humidity is good and consistent and that the substrate doesn't get water logged.

Yes! I did have that in mind! A lot of these misters and humidifiers have really good timing setting on them. So that you can make sure not to over water your plants!

i didn't like the bottle sizes that any of the foggers offered either. what i was bought a vicks cool humidifier on Amazon (holds over a gallon), one that had a directional nozzle on the top. the nozzle was removable,i took that out and silicone in a pipe fitting that stepped the hole down to 1" diameter and then inserted a drain line hose for a dishwasher into that hole and ran it into the side of the enclosure. the dishwasher hose is flexible and heavy duty, also has rubber ends so holds in place really well.

We need more people like you! Thanks for the honest comment. I feel the same about the bottle sizes and the price ranges seem a little high. But a great investment nonetheless. I would love to see what you did for yours. Message me some pics on instagram!

I don't think one is better than the other per se, I think they each just serve their purposes in different ways

Most definitely! Should I do more comparison videos like this one?
