Check out their live performance of this song! The production of BM live consistently far exceeds the recorded versions, plus in this song Su sounds so much better without the stylistic autotune.
Great reaction, and you were actually more positive about this than a lot of die hard fans were when they first heard it.👍🙃 Not only is it basically a rap, worse still were the autotune effects on Su's vocals. Those threw them right off and they thought this could not and would not be performed live.
Happily they were proved very wrong ... not only did they perform it live, Su also kills it on the vocals without any autotune or effects (there are still some on the harmonies etc on the backing track, but not on her live vocals) - and it hits so hard live that everybody (even the ones who hated it on a first listen) goes completely bonkers.
The chuggy guitars ... they used their limited edition custom 9 string guitar for the recording, I'm pretty sure the Kami Band don't use that for the live performances.
'BxMxC' = BABYMETAL Cypher (almost certainly, but there are still some of us holding out for Bring Moa Chicken based on her answer to the first question in an interview - "How are you feeling right now?" Moa: "Hungry, I need to eat fried chickens"🍗).

SU-METAL: That was my first rap experience. For most of my recordings up until now, I would sing “la la laa” to create a sort of vocal line, and then lyric writing began based on that. But it was different for this track, they had a backing track and lyrics, and then told me to try rapping. So at first I was still trying to figure it out. In hiphop they call it…it was like…ah, I forget!
MOAMETAL: Wasn’t it…f-…fall?
SU-METAL: Uh…what was it…
KOBAMETAL (their producer): Flow?
SU-METAL: Flow! (laughs) To get a feel for the flow, I made a lot of different attempts to figure out what would be good. Like how to descend and ascend in pitch, and which timing would be the best to try the pitch changes. Even for the same phrase I’d try going a little ahead of the beat or a little bit behind it, while keeping the whole track’s balance in mind."
As I've said probably too many times now, this song hits so hard live - I hope you can find a good live recording to watch.🤘

Babymetal has actually shared the stage with Skillex ones, 2015 in Japan at a sort of festival. Babymetal lipsynced Gimme Choco as kids on stage while he played the song, something like that. As you can imagine it's not that interesting.

This song was a blast live in their recent tour. Su kills the vocals, Moa and Momo go hard on the dance and refrain, and Kamis lay down a heavy groove. 🦊🤘

1) idk why, but these last 3 only showed up just today. very weird. idk if it's on your end (maybe you had them unlisted or something?) of if YT being glitchy.
2) the autotune (or whatever they did to get that electronic effect) was indeed a stylistic choice , and i understand why they did it. HOWEVER , they do away with that effect live, and it goes hard af.
3) lyrically, it is indeed about having an epic rap battle over pushing the boundaries of genre expectations.
i _want_ to hate everything about it ; but it's actually in my top-5 BM songs 😂🤘

I am glad that they do away with the effect live! I will have to check out a live version instead, I prefer live Babymetal so far.
I can understand why it rates so highly for you, it has been stuck in my head since I recorded this!

Nice reaction. It does start to feel sometimes with Babymetal what comes next? How long can they keep mixing genres? Well so far at lease 4 albums and one song that is not on an album. came out after the release of their last album The Other One. That song is "Metal!" their very last released song. I'm hoping with Momoko joining last year that we get a new album with her singing on it. As that last one was done before she became an official member. For the score keepers. That means their first 2 albums are the original 3 Su Yui and Moa. The next 2 albums are them as a duo Su and Moa. And the last song is them as the new trio Su Moa and Momoko. April first has become the day they have traditionally made announcements like the release date for a new album and tour dates. I know isn't that April Fool's Day? Yes, it is. and in Japan it is also known as Fox Day. Foxes and Babymetal just go together. Fox Day is a lot like April Fool's Day where folks play pranks on each other. As you can guess They have played a few pranks on this day. Releasing info only to give us the real info a few hours later. Not every song by them hits with everyone. But there are going to be some maybe more that will become part of that play list of yours. The foxhole is deep and full of surprises.
It's not a bad song at all, but iit just hits differently live.. it's fcking heavy, especially with the beast as Barone is on drums. And ofc, SU without overdone effects on her voice is always better 😁🤘🦊
Nice! I love this song, but I understand if it’s not your thing. There are a couple of Babymetal songs that I don’t like as well.
I highly doubt there will ever be a band where I love 100% of content. Babymetal is close.
Perhaps you may like it more on the live versions where her voice is not touched.

Man I missed this one. I saw your Babymetal Death reaction pop up for me but not this one. How odd. Anywho, it’s understandable this one may not be your favourite. In fact a lot of fans have had that reaction to this version. This song is my #1. But like others have said, the live version is 🔥 and Su’s vocals are fierce. Definitely a different vibe with the acoustics of a cavernous arena. I wonder if maybe the reason they have edited so much auto tune on her voice was maybe due to an inability to replicate her thunderous arena voice in studio? I don’t know, I’m just speculating on my favourite song.
But this song definitely showcases the ambition of Babymetal’s experimental side for sure.
And once again BABYMETAL pegs the "WTF?!" gauge! This is yet another example of BABYMETAL doing their take on a particular genre. BABYMETAL has a little less than seventy songs in their catalog and I admit that, in my opinion, there are five that I don't particularly care for, and another twenty that are "meh". The rest I would listen to over and over again.
But if you want a real "WTF!" BABYMETAL song, you really should react to their second MV "Iine!" (that's the letter "i" twice and it's pronounced "E-nay").

I understand what you mean about some songs don't jump at you so much and other do.
I really like this song but not a fan of the more power metal songs they do. I think there cool but not a regular listen.
