King Farouk was Egyptian and proud of being Egyptian and speaking Arabic Egyptian. He does not admit that he was the Albanian and, when he was isolated and exiled to Italy, he wished the day he returned to his country, Egypt.

King Farouk like the king of England didn’t have much power and the only thing he can was to appoint the prime minister but still need a parliamentary approval. If the political system stay the same even with out the king Egypt economy and wealth will be far better. Nasser on the other hand was a dictator he controlled everything and destroyed the economy of Egypt and got defeated in all the wars he entered. Farouk was Egyptian from a father and mother who were Egyptians his great grandfather was born in Greece and was originally from Albania but after 100 years you can’t say his descendants are not Egyptians.

@@thutmose7506 He offered Sultan Mahmud II Mehmed Ali Pasha the governorship of other provinces if he suppressed the Greek rebellion. But he did not keep his word and Kavalalı Mehmed Ali Pasha rebelled against Sultan Mahmud II. This rebellion was not a nationalist separatist rebellion. Later, Sultan Mahmud II died and was replaced by Sultan Abdülmecid. After that, Kavalalı came to Istanbul and kissed the hand of the 17-year-old sultan and apologized.

It was a sad time when the Monarchy ended in Egypt.A lot of people lost everything in the blink of an eye, because the new government confiscated money, jewelry and properties from the Egyptian people .Therefore,a lot of Egyptians left their country to start a new life in Europe or America,I've heard many people who fled at that time - they left only with the clothes they were wearing. The 1952 Coup D'Etat, or "revolution" as they like to name it,only benefitted the ones who promoted it ,as it always happens with all Revolutions.Nasser started spreading rumors that Mohammed Naguib was plotting to kill him, placed Naguib in house arrest and this is how Nasser rose to power,by spreading lies against his former friend.Mohammed Naguib was in house arrest for twenty years,Nasser died in 1970 and Naguib released only a few years later, under the rule of Anwar Sadat, who also took part in the 1952 Coup, along with Naguib and Nasser.

In 1952, Egypt experienced a coup d'état that led to a significant decline in its fortunes. The subsequent authoritarian and militarized rule of the country has had a lasting impact on its citizens. Prior to the coup, Egypt was a monarchy and was widely considered to be one of the leading nations in Africa and the Middle East. Its beauty and cultural richness were often compared to that of Europe. Given this history, there are some who believe that the descendants of the monarchy would be better suited to lead the country than its current leaders.

Egypt is in a mess now. It wasn’t back then. Back then, it was a beacon among Arab nations. Its culture was fervent. Now, its young flee abroad for work. They work in Gulf countries for a pittance. Back then, it was Saudi Arabia that went to Egypt for help.

He was not really interested to be a king but he was the only son. Corrupt yes but never a traitor unlike other Arab monarchs. His real replacement was president Nasser who was the most capable and most loved ruler in Egypt's history

Generalizations is a dangerous thing my brother, and blaming all the corruption and every bad thing that was going on the late king Farouk is not only false but also laughable, I believe the kingdom of Egypt was a way better opinion then what you had post 1952 after the horrible coup, I believe that king Farook wasn't perfect but the Coup and those who came after the likes of abdul al Nasser was the downfall of Egypt in my humble opinion, Egypt lost sinia sudan gaza, and made enemies in other arab capitals not mentioning their backing of coups in Libya,Yeman, iraq, syria which destroyed the whole arab world in my opinion.

@@Bot-gy9gx modern day Egypt was established and gained its independence from the ottomans in the 19th century and Mohammed ali and his family weren't "British puppets" nor were they insulated by the British, did Egypt fall under British occupation no doubt, that doesn't make all of their Sultans/kings were "puppets" many of them were patriotic and were against any foreign interventions inside Egypt, especially king Farook you have to go back and read about him, just cause you hate them doesn't make it alright for you or anybody to demonize and change the history books just to further your views and points on the public, and if you wanna be Frank about it the so called "free officers" were backed and helped by the Americans I dont know what you would call that..😉

Bdot187 Backed by America? Yea so the started to buy arms from the USSR to show their support of America. Ask historians, the Kingdom of Egypt was most definitely ruled by Brits for Brits. That doesn’t make King Farouk bad, it just meant that Nasser was a better ruler in the eyes of normal Egyptians, the Farouk government was incredibly corrupt and ineffective in showing its sovereignty

    • @sputnik1315

@@bdot187um A person with any decent knowledge of Egypt’s history doesn’t compare Farouk to Nasser. Farouk ruled from under the British thumb, decisions were taken in the British embassy and that is a fact. The Egyptian people were excessively poor pre 1952, even compared to other poor Arab nations. I am not talking about the rich suburbs of Cairo ( usually non Egyptians) that always appear on videos. Nasser gave Egypt the Suez Canal, the High Dam and made it a massive industrial powerhouse. Egypt was the top Arab country in everything … until his death, after which Egypt made a U turn on his policies and now blame him for the inevitable decline. And how on Earth you say Gaza and Sudan were parts of Egypt? Go and utter those words to a Palestinian or Sudanese!
