Yahya Khan did give fair elections when it was clear Sheikh Mujibur Rehman won the election with most of the seats of his party, fair and square to become the next Prime Minister of Pakistan but Yahya Khan was angry and he did not accept the results instead he made Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto the Prime Minister of Pakistan which was not good.

The argument regarding yahya's incompetence is a debate in Pakistan. The only reason this sentiment is raised is because of systematic racism that our high officials in the military establishment promotes. The rifts created have deeply shaken the mentality of the average Pakistan like us. The issue of Pakistan is of one of trust, the average Pakistani does not know who to trust, the one who he trusts takes advantage of him.
But more importantly there is heavy need of a leadership not a democracy but the military takes this argument as basis of their justification of rule but the past has shown that is not the way that Pakistan should go as our military establishment tends to have superiority complex unfortunately.
If we are talking in terms of geopolitics, the most of the world fears the time this nation wakes up. That is why negative sentiments about this country is above the average.
Everyone has the right to call this general incompetent, ridiculing someone who has this opinion halts other people to ponder on your opinion because their will always be emotions involved in reply to such comments. Civilized discussions the ones in which you hear the other person.
In conclusion, if we are to make statements on internet, we should learn the netiquettes involved in such discussions because we do not know the real identity of the other person maybe the other person is underaged? Or maybe he may be a malicious person? We don't know for sure. Please behave in a civil manner as you represent our country.
Gen. Yahya Khan, Bhutto etc were made scapegoat so that common people can throw off their anger otherwise real descion makers know very well what mistakes happened. There was no other best alternative. We wanted to survive that but couldn't. It will hunt us but day will come when scarifised blood will bring fruit. Rest in assured.
