Harvestman & Tarantulas ! Sympatric Tarantula Species in Chile
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 лип 2024
- While searching for new tarantula species in southern Chile we managed to find a few surprises!
Another Euathlus species and just right beside Phrixotrichus vulpinus, living together in the same area - co-existing and sharing the habitat!
But the most amazing part was when we found this extremely colorful Harvestman, just outstanding and we've never seen anything like that before!

pretty insane species, yes :) No, we did not collect it - I think it will be alright there where we found it, Chile does a great job in protecting their flora and fauna with nationalparks.

I just found your channel. Needless to say, I'll be back soon.
wohooo! Welcome :)
Hey, nice vid - have you ever tried releasing nonnative species into the wild to develop natural set-ups (e.g. in a garden or shed). I'm thinking of doing this with pokies and G. pulchripes in my friend's barn (x10 P. regalis commune and x20 Gp slings). Any tips would be welcome given I live in Maine and am worried about winters. I'm guessing Ts will simply hibernate when it gets cold. There's tons of bugs in the barn so am not worried about food and water needs, just temps. I have a natural P. irmina set up in my shed and they are doing ok - its big enough that they don't hunt each other, but again I'm worried about winter even though my shed has much more insulation given I keep snakes in it year round. Thanks for any advice! Good luck with your Ts btw.
hey Chester! Releasing non native species into the wild is not something I would do, ever. The impact to the local ecosystem can be huge, since the introduced spiders don't have any natural predators they have to fear and worry about. There are tons and tons of examples of where non-native, or invasive species, destroy the local fauna. Just check what the Pythons do in Florida.
Make sure they will not get into the wild, and keep them safely in enclosures. cheers
it depends on the country, not every country has laws regarding the release of non native species.... but it's the sad truth that there need to be such laws in the first place, humanity should realize that it's not a good idea to bring non native species and release them somewhere they don't belong
Subs done 👍👍👍
cheers mate!
