The leagues policy for discipline on findings of domestic violence is 6 games minimum. So, if the league is going to use a 1-2 game suspension then what was the violation that is no longer considered domestic violence??? If they're not following their own league policies then you can't say this isn't a "witch hunt" plain and simple

The NFL works just like any other public figure type job. My friend who is a cop and I were at a bar having a few drinks when he was off duty. And all the sudden police raided the bar we were in for underage drinking. Even though me and my friend were of age and had nothing to do with what the bar tender and owner was doing. My friend was written up by his Sgt right there on the spot n sent us on our way. Days later he was suspended from his job because he is a police officer and shouldn't have put himself in a position like that. The NFL is the same way. The players belong to the NFL. Just like police belong to their department. You sign that contract stating that you won't get in trouble, then you better not get in trouble or even be around trouble.

How do you get ready to get suspended?
NFL need to stop investigating these incidents and give the data to the police who should then charge the player. The same thing happens here in Australia and elsewhere in the world where these sporting bodies think they are bigger then the law. Gather the data and then hand it over to police, suspend the player while he is being investigated and accept the laws decision.

People seem to forget that the NFL is a private business, and we live in a country where many states allow businesses to fire "at will" (basically means you can be fired for no reason).
There are barely any protections for normal workers, and while the NFL players have a union that union has given this kind of power to the NFL. Whether you like it or not the NFL has every right to suspend players even if it's only for accusations. If the NFL feels players should be punished just for getting in the situation than that's their right. If the players don't like it than they need to get that handled in the collective bargaining agreement.
Sadly, if you had the same charges leveled at you as a private citizen working a job that no one cares about you'd STILL probably get fired for the controversy. That's the kind of power we give private businesses in this country.
Don't like it? Fight for better workers rights. As far as this country goes this specific incident and punishment aren't just allowed, they should be expected. Even with no proof of actual guilt.

Here is the point that every single person misses. He was accused of Domestic Violence. No Chargers were brought. Does that mean something didn't happen, no it doesn't but none of us really know. The issue is if you suspend him for somehthing he wasn't even CHARGED with much less CONVICTED of you have now literally set the price of black mail. If it's a two game suspension then accuse someone in the NFL of DV and settle out of court for a game check. I know this is a bit of a slippery slop argument I realize that however don't think for a second that this doesn't happen to these guys on occasion and a suspension for the DV ACCUSATION without charges sets a way to easy of a precedent to manipulate as the accuser.

Just because the DA can't press charges doesn't necessarily mean he's innocent. The NFL can take the same information the police have and use it in their own disciplinary system, meaning they don't have to prove that zeke did anything beyond a reasonable doubt, as the DA does. The NFL can look at the information and say "he most likely did" or "He might've" (which is far too loose a stance for criminal justice) and slap discipline on from there. That being said, a 1-2 game suspension after a year of investigation doesn't accomplish anything worthwhile. It wouldn't adequately punish zeke if he did beat his GF, and it would be complete unfair if he didn't beat her. So this just seems like a cop out from a weak NFL under a lot of media pressure to make a decision on the zeke case.

In the eyes of the law yes he is innocent. But Zeke is stupid for allowing himself to be put into this situation. He has to be smarter and realize he is a target for every gold digger out there.The girlfriends friends admitted they lied about the incidents. It seems unfair but the NFL is his place of employment and jobs can punish people for bringing bad press and notoriety their way.
Clayton Lanier I definitely understand what you're saying, zeke definitely needs to show more contrition. However, it would be horrible press for the NFL to suspend an innocent man, let alone an innocent super star. I think it would be foolish for the NFL to suspend him just because he's been in the wrong place at the wrong time, as Sharpe said, that's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

So moving forward, will the league suspend a player as anytime someone makes an accusation? If so, why isn't Eli being suspended over fraud allegations? If this will not become the new norm, then how will they pick and choose who they feel like suspending?
I'm not a Cowboy fan. But this is nonsense. If there was an investigation by law enforcement in two states that determined that there was nothing, the NFL needs to let this go. Otherwise, they will set a presidence that players should be suspended for accusations. What they do to Elliott will have to be done to all players going forward. Sorry guys, you don't know how hard the authorities looked at it and there's way too many incidents covered up or let go because a star athlete is involved. The pull on the woman's shirt shows Elliot thinks he can get away with doing the wrong thing and you don't know if that entitlement is because he's gotten away with it. Don't pretend the authorities got it right, I think we've all seen plenty of athletes get away with criminal behaviour (Jameis Winston was accused how many times, and the accusers paid off, to name just one ).
