How To Enable AMD-V In BIOS, Fix Host supports AMD-V, but AMD-V is disabled

- If you are installing a virtual machine then you need to enable AMD-V in BIOS to get the virtualization features. This may happen irrespective of Windows versions whether you are using Windows 11, 10, or lower. You might get an error like -
"Error while powering on: This host supports AMD-V, but AMD-V is disabled.
AMD-V might be disabled if it has been disabled in the BIOS/firmware settings or the host has not been power-cycled since changing this setting.
(1) Verify that the BIOS/firmware settings enable AMD-V.
(2) Power-cycle the host if this BIOS/firmware setting has been changed.
(3) Power-cycle the host if you have not done so since installing VMware Player.
(4) Update the host's BIOS/firmware to the latest version.
This host does not support "AMD RVI" hardware assisted MMU virtualization.
VMware Player does not support the user level monitor on this host.
Module 'MonitorMode' power on failed.
Failed to start the virtual machine."
Steps enable the AMD V from the BIOS.
1. Restart your PC and press the BIOS key on the keyboard.
2. Go to "Advanced" settings in the BIOS
3. Look for "Advanced CPU Configuration"
4. Find and enable SVM Mode or AMD V.
Restart the PC.
I have done this on MSI B550 Motherboard, your BIOS would have similar options with a different interface.

Perfect - Thank you. My MSI front screen on the BIOS was saying Virtualisation Enabled but VMWare (Linux Host) was certainly not convinced. Sure enough, SVM was indeed disabled in the Advanced CPU settings.
THANK YOU. I’ve been searching for that setting for so long. Why does it have so many names for the same thing?
Thank you so much. Clear and fast info. Just the way I like it.

Clear and fast manual - as every should be
For the yellow menu for my pc i had to click up "Advanced Mode" and then "CPU Configuration" to "SVM Mode" and then "Enabled"

Perfect tutorial I have an Asus motherboard anybody else with one it will be very different I recommend searching it up if you don’t you’re not gonna find it very easily
Where is this option on Asus? I cant find
i dont find it amd ryzen 5 2500u
So if you go to options and look at the top row there should be a search bar
in cmd under systeminfo.exe it shows "a hypervisor has been detected.feature required for hyper-v will not be displayed". what does it mean?
I do this and My keyboard and mouse stop working.... why?
