Can’t wait for mine to arrive. Tbh I don’t see it as a specialty focuser. I see it as a necessary part of putting together a 2-3 lens set. I have the 16A for my wider lens and 16B for tighter lens. Plus, I’ve cut my Isco Ultra Stars down to the absolute shortest length possible. That, plus the custom short FMJs I’ve ordered from Rapido should mitigate some of that ridonculous length. Now I just have my fingers crossed that Rapido will come out with a scope that’s a compromise btwn the gigantic 35A and the much more reasonably sized 16A
You have very good points there, Stephen!
That’s funny you predicted the 24a
85 doesn't clear on 20.25mm sensor height (in your example on 16:9 a7s2 fullframe video). So that means one would have to look for a 90-100mm as base lens. There are some nice options (Schacht Ulm Travenar 90mm, Summicron-R 90mm, Meyer Optik 100mm).
But s35 height (18mm) and the anamorphic mode on a S5 for example (15.8) makes life a bit easier, allowing less tele lenses. 85s should work fine there.
I have a 120 mm. Would that be OK to use with it?
This is next on my list.
This would pair nice with my 100mm F2.5 Minolta! Good stuff Brother.
Thank you Tito, this is a very interesting solution!
Already have the Sirui 50mm and 35mm but I want to build a 2X anamorphic setup as well. I have the Isco Ultra Star Red Micro + a couple of taking lenses (Helios 44-2, Jupiter 8, 9 and 11). Having a Sony A7S (first generation), what would you say is the best bang for the buck as far as a single-focus solution is concerned? Something that would work best with the Helios (58mm) or Jupiter 9 (85mm). The FVD-18B was kind of a bummer since it doesn't clear at 85mm because the sharpness was outstanding.
Nice stuff! Gonna buy one next month!
Another brilliant video. Thanks for saving me $1000!
Hmm... I think this plus an 85mm with just a sliiiight bit of clear image zoom on my Sony A7III should be okay :) like 1.05x or something.
Tito (and everybody else), do you think the Contax Zeiss 85mm F2.8 with an Isco ultra star (with a shaved down lip) or Sankor 5E or Kowa 8z would clear 2.39 full frame? I have a feeling you were using the 85mm F1.4
I came as soon as I got the notification
Same
It sounds like you guys should become members of the channel, you know? Early access and stuff... ;)

I hope you figure it out! :)

i did! yes. you are a treasure troph of info and experience. will buy your guide soon mate. Gonna do some tests to figure stuff out.
Thanks
Thank you!
hmmm ... my taking lens is a 105mm and i use it on the sony a1 ... which one should i get now ? fvd 16a or b ?
Hard question. I'd say at 105mm you're closer to getting a better performance from the fvd 16B.
@@AnamorphicOnABudget thanks a lot for the answer! :)
so what to use with an 85mm taking lens? the A?
If you're on a camera with less vertical height than in Tito's example, you are fine using an 85mm with the 16b.
Tu é br man?
Sim. ;)
If you don't bring back the OG intro music I am unsubscribing.
Crap! There's more changes coming, Max!
🤣 shiiiiit Max dropping bombs haha.
An Alexa has rolling shutter. A literal film camera shooting celluloid has rolling shutter. You shouldn't feel bad
$1000 for just a diopter?
Eeeek
