  • My sister can finally say she’s part of the HD family with her (new to her) 2007 Sportster 1200! I got to take it on its maiden voyage back to our place, and for $6000 🇨🇦 (about $4550 us) I’m feeling like it was a pretty good deal since it has less than 5000 miles on it. 😏
She still has a bit of practicing to do before she can hop on and take it for a spin herself, but it’s here and ready to go whenever she is!
And, anyone who want's to send me pictures of their bikes, you can email me at:
    redrider.canada.bc@gmail.com
    PLEASE SEND LARGE CLEAR PHOTOS!
1080p x 1080p is the MINIMUM we can work with, so please do your best at making sure your photos are large and not blurry 🙂 And send more than one if you can as well!
Only motorcycle related emails please - sorry, but I just don't have the time to engage in personal conversations.
    Thank you for your understanding.
If you DON'T want your bike highlighted in a future video showing viewers bikes then make sure to mention it in your email. Other than that, expect to see your bike in one of my videos!
If you would like my PO BOX address you can find it in the description to my channel by following this link:

I have saddlebags with Easy Brackets. The brackets lock on, to remove them you just unlock them and lift them off. The brackets stay with the bags. Only thing left on the fender rail are the little docking posts, which are barely noticeable.

@@geraldscott4302 when the previous owner of my Sportster came out of a bar when his bike was about 6 months old or a year-old somebody quickly detached all his quickly detachable windshield saddlebags backrest everything going I'm surprised you just didn't push the bike to. A wonderful purchase, a bargain at 4,500 USD (£3,530!), and in such excellent condition, with so low a mileage! She's got a keeper there! I've had a few of my "roadster and cruiser" bikes with bolt-on windscreens, and I have permanently removed them after a short while because of the uncomfortable wind-buffeting behind them, created by the vacuum behind the windscreen! Spreading the wind pressure evenly over the whole body without them results in much more pleasantness during the ride! (Just avoid the rain!...LOL...).Take the windshield off and enjoy the freedom!! I'm eager to see more of your sister riding her new purchase! Take care both, and ride safe!.....😀...😀...from England....😀...!

2007!!!! The same as mine so she obviously has superb taste! Happy and safe riding to you both! This HD has the *Sporster EVO* engine, a better engine than the Big Twin EVO. Parenthetically, the Evo engine was rubber-mounted starting in 2004, while F.I. was added in 2006. Your sister's bike, therefore, is a fuel injected EVO (preceding the EVO was the Sportster "iron head"). Also parenthetically, it is recommended not to be in fifth gear below 60 miles per hour. The Sportster EVO is easiily a 100,000 mile engine.

Her sporty is DEFINITELY carbureted! It has a choke and a peacock, and a big ol carb sitting behind that air cleaner! I’ve read some info saying that all the twin cams went EFI in 2007, but sporty stayed carbed till 2008.

Windshields are a good thing. I put a windshield on during the winter months. That really extends being able to ride when the temps dip below 40 degrees. Those Sporters are great! I've owned two, 2005 1200 Sporties. Love their rubber mounted motors which makes a better ride. Yes Evo's are fantastic. They are just about bullet proof. I miss my Sportsters, but I went with the Indian Scout and Triumph Bonneville as my last bikes I'll own. I'm a old geezer, Sportsters hit the road in 1957 the same year I was born. Hi Red, that looks like a nice bike. My first Harley was a 96 Sportster I bought from my Son. It had lowering brackets on the back shocks. I found a poor mans fix to lower the front. I loosened the triple tree and slid the fork tubes up. I held the front break and pushed hard to find the point before the headlight hit the fender. I think I slid the tubes up one and three quarter inches. Easy to do, easy to change back. Never road it double and never had a problem. It had drag bars with a quick bob tank. I think it held 3.2 gallons. Lowering it just went with the look. I don't know If sliding the fork tubes up is an option on the newer Sportsters though. I hope your Sister has many safe trips on her new bike.

hi Angel, great looking Sportster; lucky little sister!
On my Heritage the fuel gage is in the left false gas cap... which isn't a gas cap at all ! On the left edge of the console is a little rubber button that toggles the speedo display between odometer and "trip" mileage. If you hold in on the rubber button in trip mode it clears the trip.
If it has the left gas cap fuel gauge DONT twist the cap... look straight down into it to see fuel gage.
Hey, I finally got my Pan America Special (whoo hoo). I'm sending you an email with some pics for Red Riders Rides; also a pic of my Heritage console you can compare to your sister's Sportster. Mine is a 2003, so sis's bike is a little newer, but same gernal vintage.

In my own personal experience I would take a TC over an EVO 7 day's a week. My wife purchased a Heritage Softail EVO in "98 and still has it. The engine was trouble free for us but the Stator went out 3 times and the Starter Clutch 3 times as well. The engine was worn out as far as rings pistons, crankshaft, and barrels. We rebuilt it with S&S components as OEM parts were no longer available.
I purchased a "99 Road King TC the next year for me and at 15,000 miles had them check the timing chain guides and tensioners. All showed pretty good wear so I had them install new S7S gear drive and 210 cams. I then rode it to 100,000 miles and the bike still only used a half a pint of oil every 3,000 miles. Other than that the bikes was Flawless and the only thing I changed were fluids, filters, brakes and tires. The TC also had a ton more power than the EVO even with a bigger cam and the re-jet for the Carburetor. TC was Quieter, smother, faster, and longer lasting.
I now have a '14 RK TC and a "17 Road Glide special M8 but both have far to few miles to compare. I have installed an after market stage II on the M8 along with an S&S cam plate, oil pump, Inner cam BRGS, Fueling lifters, Lifter cuffs and a complete Exhaust because of the Sumping issues the early M8's were having. I feel like this should make the engine last a while but my local independent that does my work say's the piston rings, Pistons, and Cylinders are a weak spot for many of the M8's as well. The '14 TC has a Stage 1 with a full exhaust and a dyno tune.
So there you have it, everything I know from my long ownership experiences about the 3 motors.

Yea I thinks it’s really a preference thing and usually comes some to how well maintained some things are. But I’ve heard that the TC motors (not sure if it’s all TC or just the early ones) have the timing chains adjusted to the max adjustment and that causes them to wear out a lot quicker. And then I’ve also talked to some Harley techs who said the early M8 motors (2016 to 2018 or so) had oil pump issues where the pump didn’t actually circulate enough oil, which would cause all kinds of issues. But I’ve never owned or worked on any of those engines so I cant say from my own experience weather they are reliable or not. I just know my shovel is simple to work on lol

That’s a great bike. You guys are going to have so much fun going on rides together. Very cool!
Wearing a backpack gets old. Having saddlebags makes life easier, but naked bikes look better. That’s why you have to have at least two bikes. It’s a sickness, I know! 🤪😜🇺🇸

What a great bike with low mileage. Hopefully, when your sister gets a few more miles under her belt y'all can ride and film together. My 2007 Softail is EFI, but I don't think that's the case on all 2007 HDs. My first HD was a 2011 Sportster 48 and it didn't have a tac or fuel gauge, but it does have a light that indicates when you're near empty which wasn't much on the tiny Sportster 48 two gallon tank. The tank on your sisters looks like the three gallon tank. Thanks for sharing.

All 2007 and newer Harleys are EFI. I purposely bought a 2006 Sportster 1200L to avoid it.

@@geraldscott4302 I was just going by what Angel says in the video that it's a 2007 model and is carbureted.

It is 2007 and it is carbureted… I have found some info online that says all twincams were EFI in 2007 but the sporty didn’t switch over till 2008 🤔

Clean Sportster. Great you got a naturally aspirated bike. Less crap to deal with. Congrats to your Sister. Now teach her the ancient ways of riding. You’ll get spoiled with that windshield and saddle bags :) Thanks for posting. BTW, That bike doesn’t have a fuel gauge. Use the trip meter on the odometer. It gets like 60 miles to the gallon so really don’t need one. If you want one, change the speedo to include the sensor but it’s pricey.

2007 was the 1st yr they went to fuel injection on the Sporties. I wonder if someone changed it to a carb after the fact? Google & YT can be our friend when it comes to figuring out fuel and odometer and all the electronic doodads. Good looking bike. Congratulations to your sister on her new ride. ✌️🇨🇦

I think it came as an option till they went to standard EFI in 2007. But apparently the sportsters were carbed till 2008 but all the FL, touring dyna and soft tale models were EFI in 2007.
