First Rip in the Epic Banshee Powered Shifter Kart! Part 6
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 гру 2019
- It took longer than expected to engine swap the two-stroke engine from the Yamaha Banshee into the Shifter Kart. However, in today's video, we finally get to test out the kart and see how it performs around the driveway. I hope you all enjoy the video as much I enjoyed testing out the kart, and stay tuned for more fabrication work and improvements to come!

This engine over a 420 from go power sports ! It has a lot more power potential this is probably slightly modified a port on the head would make it faster than anything from a go cart supply place .. what’s the difference in price ? Have you worked with other engines?
What did you do with the motor you had on this
You need to move the chain tensioner to the bottom chain or it will bend again when you get traction. Spin the wheels in the correct direction and look at where the chain is slack, that is where you put the tensioner. Right now it's sending all the power into the tensioner causing it to bend and it will break again. Good luck with the build!
@Adam Paganelli As above - tension (or remove the excess slack) from the non-drive side of the chain. In your case underneath
Thanks for the feedback👍🏼
Yes I 100% agree. A tensioner does not have to be robust. Just practical enough to keep the free slack out of the way and keep the links buried in the sprocket. Tbh I have always been impressed by your process. You seem to have always weighed options when you finally commit to a method. Great job!
Exactly my thoughts on the tensioner, was going to comment the same :)
I had a shudder when I saw you putting the roller on the drive side. I doubt it will last terribly long like that. If it doesn't bend the bracket the roller will wear really quick, the load if that wheel hops is unreal!
Awesome 👍 shee is insane. I feel you on the electric start
Tensioner goes on the slack side, not the pull side.
Its amazing how someone can have so little common sense they fuck this up..... im shure his motor mounts wont brake when he gets the engine warmed up on dry ground lol. you wanna see the biggest shitshow on youtoube. go look up MOTOMIGS and look at his motor mount on the mini nascar lmao. its amazing that kid can take a shit on his own.
@@2wheelhoon813 It's also amazing that someone doesn't know how to spell the word 'sure.' I mean, we learned that in like 1st grade. Give him a break, maybe he's new to all this and still learning.
@@refugeinc.159 that's not learning it's common sense. As soon as the chain pulls tight it would bend down..... Come the fuck on now seriously. My problem is UA-camrs need people to stop making videos beginners turn to to learn the wrong way. Because of UA-cam there's people who are new to the hobby that think ohhh I'll just put this eBay turbo kit on my car and life is good. "I did it when I was young bc I sa it on UA-cam" well they skipped the part about the aftermarket boost controller and added waste Gates and ignition cut boxes and different map sensors..... These people portray hotroding as a easy and friendly hobby when it isn't. And it's certainly not cheap. Half these videos are fairy tales that people watch bc they wish it were true. But than there is some really intelligent UA-camrs doing cool shit and teaching good skills and being open about the cost and time involved.

Chain tensioner on bottom
Oh man that’s gotta be so much fun! My cbr125 shifter kart that I just build is plenty of fun, and I could only imagine if it had a banshee motor (really regret ever selling my banshee… it was a blast!).
The tensioner needs to be on the bottom of the chain. The top will always be tight under acceleration 👍🏼
I would actually avoid a tensioner all together because when you downshift or engine brake the lower side will have a ton of tension too. Just pot the engine in the right place
This clown doesn’t even understand basic mechanics. Just another UA-cam hack job.
Marek Sumguy you couldn’t do better
Never a tensioner on a drive chain. You need a slide bracket.
I built a shifter cart in “78” . It’s was a Yamaha race cart that had a 100 cc motor blown when I bought it. I bought a Suzuki 370 RM 2-stroke with kick start. Put motor behind seat over the axle the kick start worked good with enough room to kick it. The exhaust I cut 3-4 times an twisted it so fit nice. The shift rod was just straight rod motor shifter turned up and and loop welded to it so just 1 forward and 4 back. The clutch was just the regular handle with pc handle bar welded to frame an really only used to take off an come to stop. Was very fast about 70? Really loud when brought out the people in neighborhood all came out.
Good work! Thanks for a great video. I really needed this after a long day at work.
Adam very nice. Kart has lots of power and sounds amazing. Put the chain tensioner on the bottom of the chain. Upper side is the the power side thats why its bent... other than that very nice
Yes put it in the bottom 👍👍
You got a hell of a nice yard
Congrat for your top project Adam
it's a real challenge & you succeed ! 💪💪💪👍👍👍
You're really gonna want that roller/tensioner on the bottom of the chain.
Forget the track, a wet Walmart parking lot would be great!
But can’t wait for the next video though
That thing is crazy!!! Haha just a few little things to fix up and it's track ready, proud of you Adam, the fact that you're doing this all by yourself is just amazing, keep learning and growing bro💪🏻
Thanks for the support man👍🏼
Awesome!! That kart looks like a handful!! Good luck with the chain tensioner.
Great project and thank you for your hard work!! ...from Wyoming USA 🔫🤠
What a widowmaker Adam, congrats. Regards from Spain
Test drive in the wet with slicks... brilliant! Now I want a banshee engine for my kart builds!!
Motor sounds very rich.
thats awesome mate, when i saw it i had to think "good thing your not bigger than you are otherwise ya wouldnt fit". verry very cool my friend.
This kart is looking realy like badass! You now need a race track.
Congrats you have created a monster😎
I love the Build though keep up with the great content
Terrific job, looks and sounds awesome, dont think id have tried it in the wet with slicks lol but awesome bit of work, 10/10 looks just great. You had me when you rope pulled to start and it worked , sounds awesome. That engine was made for it
I just found this channel and I like it! Subbed
good on ya putting the tensioner on the tight side
That is one sweet ride
Thanks👍🏼
This thing is awsome bro
Very cool! Looks like a beast man, great build!! A couple hints, youve got plenty on the chain tensioner and starting, but definitely invest in a pair of Milbar lock/safety wire pliers and a spool of lockwire, no more hardware vibrating off. Use lots of springs and rubber mounts on your exhausts, theyll be much happier. Well done man.
Woooow!! What an awesome build, so much power beneath your feet too, only one thing though, the chain tensioner needs to be on the bottom or it will keep bending ☺ keep grinding dude, mad respect from Scotland 🇬🇧
I was going to mention the tensioner position but everyone beat me to it lol
Badass! Now take it out on the road
Man that is an awesome build and yes I gave this a thumbs up!! If the steering was moved to the left a little more then it looks like it would be a lot easier to drive it!
Adam, It looks really tricked out. The fabrication work that you did is a reflection of how TALENTED you are. Love the coil piece you made. When the engine cleared its throat, she ran like a bat out of HELL. I'm looking forward to seeing you run her when it's dry.
Really appreciate it Jim👍🏼 I need to continue to get better for sure!
@@adampaganelli4891 That's awesome!
Just love your vids man I gave this vid a like as well you deserve more subscribers then you have keep on the grind
Thanks Oscar🙏
This thing is 💥🔥🔥
These engines sound fucking awesome!! Gotta love a proper 2 stroke
Good work:)
Well done mate , i put a CR500 engine in mine lol , looks like yours is just as insane as mine 👍
Damn that thing is a monster be careful man
That thing looks like an awesome adrenaline rush machine love it. Is it a stock banshee motor? That thing has a lot of talk
nice build. very nice
my banchee 4 wheeler would do over 105 mph by adding tumi ss pipes, jetting carbs, and port n polish heads, plus 40over and high compression pistons
You should get one of those 360 cameras for sick footage
The chain tensioner should work just fine as long as you just go backwards all the time.
I would put the kick starter back on.
I have a frame and I’m contemplating acquiring with these motors. How did you mount it?
Thanks so much Adam for the awesome content ,b4 Xmas we will be watching a track vid 😁😁 #1000likes
That thing is VIOLENT! 😂
Make a kart stand and use third gear to strap start it that's how we do it at WKA road races and events. We can even start with just turning the wheel with our hands once after it is warmed up.
(idle adjustment is on the carb's.... thats just cable slack adjustment)
Maybe but more likely it has a screw that lifts the slide when you thread it in . Its not common to run thottle cable tight between the carb and the twist grip . Slack is actually recomended and standard on motorcycles .
@@Gadget-Tree i know, i just said that dude lol
Chain tensioner goes on the bottom of the chain not the top, but it'll work for a little while
The tension on top when engine pulls straightens chain so slack will be under the bottom so the old school had a heavy spring and a roller on it.
wow you had to move seat way over great job with this build
Yes put the chain roller on the bottom side of the chain cause when you get on the gas the top side of the chain has tension on it on it and the bottom is slacked I believe that will fix that problem sweet build bro
Make another video on dry pavement!!👍👍💪💪
nice go kart whats it held together with? 793 zipties
Great job I like the way you started it but one little thing the chain tensioner should be on the bottom of the chain the chain pulled tight at the top but your slack always comes in the bottom side the chain pulls the rear sprocket the slack is always on the bottom but you've got one hell of a kart built I bet it will fly
Hi. Chain tensioner needs to be at the bottom of chain, providing there is room. If still bending brackets, spring load tensioner. The seat is somewhat to the left as to equalise weight distribution with engines mounted to the right.
Get a couple supertrap exhaust cans and you will quite enjoy the sound of that banshee engine.
Try to place the chain support on the other side of the chain, because when you start to drive, your chain will tense up on the side where the sprocket of the engine is"pulling" on the chain. This will force the chain support to bend upwards. I think you can try to weld it underneath the chain, on the other side of the chain. But otherwise when you do this, your supporter breaks when you force it in die other direction (enginestart or enginebreak)
Im curious how you plan on moving the steering to the side. I dont think thats an easy job.
Yes absolutely right Adam spin the wheels to see which way to slack is but you definitely have to put it on the bottom side not the side that the motor Torx the chain
Tensioner would work a lot better on the other side, awesome build though!
Sounds like it’s running lean, sucking air somewhere. With that 2 into 1 setup you have to use 2 intake gaskets. Did you do that?
I think I'd put on some cut down bars and use dirt bike controls and have a cup shifter for your foot.
Sprocket guides and a spring tensioner on the underside chap will help the slap I wouldn’t put the hot and cold cooling pipes together, otherwise nice kart
Do you not have room for the kick starter? Even if you hand crank it , it would be better then the rope n tire .
From waveblaster experience those water hoses have a big kink in them where they go around the engine, they could fold flatter when they heat up and restrict coolant flow. Id put metal 90 degree elbows in there which i did after losing a blaster motor from coolant starvation. Im sure you're aware of the chain tensioner already :)
Thanks for the tip! I think the hose you’re referring to already has a 90 degree bend on it. Maybe I will look for a 180!
@@adampaganelli4891 i was typing fast but yeah, its the bends on the head and the pump outlet, once a hose goes over 90 degrees it will try to fold flat on its self when it gets hot. It is possible to route them down low? Im liking your work tho, its like watching me.... 40 years ago!
Prbly idles fast on the choke ! Wait till she warms up first !
Use cordless impact to start it
Your pull handle looks like the old linkage off my CR500 suspension.
No one realises that chain tensioners need to go on the bottom of the chain because that is the slack side when you are driving and it will break/bend the tensioner if you gas it or really get on it when it is on the top of the chain. Anyways love the build lol
Ok I have a couple questions where did you get a banshee engine from how much was it .. what was the difficulty of the install I want to do this engine but on a cross kart style but a cheaper manco go kart type if you get what I’m saying just something with a good supension that I can do road and dirt depending on tires .. PLEASE ANY HELP or DIRECTION would be greatly appreciated 💪💯
Use the old kickstart piece that slides onto the shaft weld a plate on to that with a Groove in it use a steel cable so it's less likely to break and make a bracket that holds like a T handle so you pull that and it's like a cantilever wheel on a compound bow and it turns the shaft for the kickstarter and starts it that way my dad put a RD 400 motor in a dune buggy and devised a pulley system so you could sit inside in the seat pull a rope and it would start the motor it was actually pretty neat I wish I would have had pictures before he took it apart
get the chain tensioner under the bottom of the chain where its slack even on the power.
Dont know if you solved it but a vacuum leak will make it idle high also make sure everything is sealed around the carb. Can cause a burn down if you dont catch it.
Will you make a update video or is this project end ?
I have a Rotax 2 cylinder inside my Kart but with Skidoo CVT :-)
Need some rubber mounts for the exhaust
Nice work! By now, I'm sure you will have changed that chain tensioner and hopefully offset the seat on a slight angle so you can get in better. You won't be in line with the frame, but after many years of racing my grass kart (Suzuki RM250) you don't notice it. Have a look at your pilot jet size as it could be running a bit lean, making it idle too fast. Enjoy the kart and take it to a track where you can legally and safely see what it will do ;)
I feel bad for your neighbors😂💯
You see his driveway I dont think his neighbors are close enough too complain.
WoW good job man you’re very inspiring
How fast is it compared to a KZ2 Shifter Kart?
Well now that I know what was on this for sure I own this cart now was gonna put a smaller motor for my son on it but mite have to put another banshee motor on it
if i was you i be pushin startin it
Badass
That's right the chain tensioner must be on the bottom the top should be direct. Also that carb is not stock there should be 2 of them.
You also have 1 pipe blowing smoke probably a bad crank seal and to finish you'd be better off with a RZ 350 gearbox, it drops right in no modes required. Because the banshee has Motocross ratios whereas the Rz has road racing ratios much more suited for the Cart
Cool videos tho keep it up
You can bump start it with you on it and someone pushing you
Move chain roller to slack side, put kicker back on, and fix your shifter. Pull=upshift push=downshift.
Double nuts with a lock washer between them works great, lots faster than spin'n off (one time use 😏) nylocks
U tried adjusting the dialer screw on the carb
I don't think you needed suit up with all that gear just for that little spin bro.. lol.. cool cart..
No you half to mount the chain tenchiner on the bottom return side of the chain or every time you hit the throttle you will be putting major force on it
No wet road tests!!
We want to see you do some 3rd gear donuts
Dude you got to put the tensioner on the bottom
Ditch the tensioner and remove some links to get the proper length you need.
Vasily and Rob dahm had a baby!
U seem to get alot of help from viewers
I'd start by turning the air screw in a bit...then mabey drop that needle one clip....that'll smooth out the off idle response...
At first it was, I left the choke on by accident. The next day it ran a lot better. I’m not really concerned about tuning this carb because I’m switching to a dual carb set up here soon
The coolant line off the head looks pinched, radius the line out further to make sure you’re getting proper flow. It might get hot as it currently is set up
Does it use a fuel pump?
