    I like that you guys did it this way. Separating the lists into two segments of what you know are good and hope are good.

    I've been eagerly anticipating Tom's pronunciation of Trismegistus, and I'm happy to say it did not disappoint.

    As someone else here has said already , the word "overwrought" is not a verb but an adjective, therefore there is no "past tense" for it. You cannot, for example, "overwrought" something, but you can say a certain game was overwrought, is overwrought or will be overwrought, but the verb in these sentences is the being verb "is" (conjugated above as "is, was, will be"). Sorry for being the grammar police, I love you guys! 💚

      I know I'm late to this comments section, but as a fellow Richards (no known relation) who likes vocabulary and grammar, wrought is the past tense and past participle of the word "work" so overwrought means something that's had too much work or energy put into it. It can be used as a verb, as in the sentence: "They wrought the iron for too long." Therefore, overwrought could potentially be used as a verb, as in the sentence: "They overwrought the iron." That usage isn't in modern English, but it would logically work. Technically, the modern version of that sentence would probably be hyphenated as "over-wrought" but quibbling over whether an existing compound word should be hyphenated to its component parts in order to mean the same thing as it would without, solely to satisfy the modern dictionary classification of its commonly accepted part of speech, seems like it would be a waste of time to even the most pedantic of linguists.
      P.S. Yes, the previous sentence was intentionally overwrought, just for funsies. ;D

    My family has been thoroughly enjoying Paladins of the West Kingdom. I do think there is more player interaction than first meets the eye. You need to be aware of the townspeople abilities, the favor actions, the outsiders, and the main board. In the mid- to late-game, those resources can become very competitive. My favorite aspect of the game is that, on your turn, you always pay something and you always get something. It never feels like you're getting a raw deal, you just might have optimized better. Makes me excited to play again!

      I have had some games that felt like that. Gloomhaven is one. I had to sell kitchen rush because my wife found it too hard. I told her "but we never lost!", but it was maybe to stressfull for her.

  • @Naeddyr

    Checked the etymology of "wrought": it's an archaic metathetic variant (a sound has moved around a bit for reasons) of worked. It's literally cognate with "overworked", except archaic and with its own slightly divergent meanings, so now you know ==* Same thing with "wright", it has the same sound change except with "wyrhta", MEnglish for 'worker'. The -gh- and -h- you see there are related to the -k- sound, I assume the /t/ in wyrhta is some sound change like /rk/ > /rht/ at some point. No you know even more! =====*

    Pharaon is called Pharaon because it's French for Pharaoh, nothing else. Being a French publisher, look no further.

    • @slenkhar
      @slenkhar 5 років тому

      I like how someone came up with some dodgy explanation. Nah. It's a French publisher. And Pharaon is the French word for Pharaoh. My guess why they didn't make it different? Savings. Why print many box lids when you can just make one type

    Actually Tom, there is a connection between Barrage and that alchemist game, that even I cannot pronounce or even write....krhhm..... Yes, they don't have the same designer, but designers of both of these games share a past with some other games that they have co-designed, namely Tzolk'in The Mayan Calender, Voyages of Marco Polo etc. So perhaps that was something that was on your mind.
