    1:14 "Each frame passes through 11 skilled hands, before it's finally made"
    Why it's so important to stress, that there is at least one handicapped person building each frame, that has lost one hand?

    • @silentumexcubitor6747
      @silentumexcubitor6747 4 роки тому +3

      Actually, only 7 persons.....4x normal persons w/2 hands each, and 3 cripples, w/only 1 hand each....
      Because they only have 1 hand, they are much better at conforming the carbon layers to the compound curves. Normal 2-hand persons not so much....

    Please allow me to proudly admit that I'm one of the owners of Festka Scalatore. The bike is equipped with THM cranks, SRAM AXS Red components, and SCOPE R4 wheels with 28 mm tires. The buying process at Festka in Prague is a very special experience and owning a perfectly fitted frame with a unique selection of components is a very good investment. The ride is fantastic in all aspects and I wouldn't want to own any other frame. Bravo Festka! First I was dreaming of owning a superbike, now I'm dreaming of being able to ride is as much as possible ;)

    The sad thing is a cyclist with marginal improved fitness over you would beat you in a race on a low end Halfords road bike if you were on this bike. It's more about the engine than the bike. You'd have to be a pretty amazing cyclist to justify the extreme marginal gains of this bike. Sounds like a cheap road bike with 28mm tyres would have better ride quality as well. Ultimately even if I was a billionaire I would not waste £14,000 on such a bike because I'm hardwired to consider value in all my purchases.

    If you question the price it’s not for you. If you have a million+ in the bank and drive a Ferrari then it’s not going to look out of place in your garage. Canyon are like the Tesco of bicycles, they are everywhere. I could see the appeal of something bespoke, if you have deep pockets.

      I was ex Cat 1 UCI Elite Road Cyclist in the late 80’s to early 90’s, paid and sponsored! Had countless steel high end Italian steel road bikes! Broke a chain and down tube on steel Columbus Sox Frame, weighed 9 kilos! Plus I broke a couple carbon high end road bike frames without crashing them! Put over 500,000 Kilometers on a road in 25 plus years! Comparing the Festaka to a car, look how much ingenuity and time to build and create a whole complete car, engine, body, transmission, and etc.! That’s my point, plus being such a light road bike, strength to weight ratio factor in engineering, creates a inferior product! Nice looking bike, but I would prefer a stronger road disc bike that weighs between 7 to 7.5 kilos, which justifies a stronger and more adequate high end road bike!

    • @Tumid1
      @Tumid1 4 роки тому

      Why is it that people who know the least speak with the most authority? An under-designed bike wouldn't take 10 minutes to break under a severe load & Toyota's least expensive car in America is $ 19,600. Anyone buying a bike like this wouldn't be a buyer for the cheapest of ..anything. To someone like Mr. Assline, who obviously can't afford either the bike (or a Toyota), he has to disparage the bike to compensate for his (well deserved) feelings of inferiority.

Think about how light production disc bikes will be in the coming years, in 3-5yrs I think there will be a trickle down into the unbranded markets for clavicula like chainsets & schmolke wheels. I wish Rotor would do something about that hydraulic derailleur hose that feeds into the rear mechanism. It looks like it could just snap off at the rear derailleur if it were to be hit or if the bike were to fall over. Why not just make it a coil or something that allows the hose to enter at an angle (with appropriate fitting)? Since the derailleur is activated by fluid, it does not need a fragile hose that is connected to a fitting prone to breakage. I think it could even be routed below the chainstay with a loop or coil in the hose to allow it to flex. As it stands, it looks like an unrefined or unfinished product.

    2:10 How do you replace individual frame tubes? It looks as if the "lugs" have been wrapped over the tubes.

      Festka can loose each connections afterwards. Pretty incredible. It's really worth it to vist the Festka Guys in Prague.

      Ianis Caratti I know that, their office is 3 streets from my office. Doesn’t change the fact that the bike is uncomfortably stiff and way overpriced. There was an article about them on the Czech news the other day, and they said they haven’t made a profit in 9 years 🤦‍♂️

      Pete is never wrong you actually trust bike magazines to give you an honest review of a product.....🤦‍♂️

      Pete is never wrong, why does an opinion have to be labeled as a vendetta? We really can’t have opinions these days without people getting all upset. Why did you comment in the first place if you didn’t agree? Next time just move along to the next comment you like, because you obviously can’t discuss anything like an adult......(Lesson in being an adult incoming from UA-cam office Pete 👮)

      Pete is never wrong I never got upset about it 😂. You’re the one who is clearly upset. I can just picture you red faced and angry 😡. The financial performance is also a fact not an unsubstantiated claim.

    Great Czech bike with lots of German parts (Schmolke, THM).
    Now if only Mercedes-Benz would buy Tatra, which they had serious plans for.that would be perfect. I love both countries. Prague is a true jewel.

    With each even lighter bike I ask myself, where those strong riders able to push heavier bikes have gone?
