"Oh, it's very different for the women here. The Muslims pray through the whole day, whereas we can just think of Khodai (Kalash Supreme God) at any time. They wear different clothes from us. And in the city, they just sit and eat, whereas we work hard and have pride in our day's work."

"The Bashali is a very good place. It's peaceful, somewhere we can rest. Men aren't allowed in there, so we can relax away from them with the other women. Men from the family bring us our food. Nowadays, we have the Bashalis here in the village, but they used to be in caves in the mountains in the olden days. This is much better."

LEAD IN:
Pakistan's smallest minority stands out. Surrounded by the Islamic communities of Pakistan and neighbouring Afghanistan, the Kalash people continue to celebrate their animist beliefs (the belief in the existence of individual spirits that inhabit natural objects and phenomena).
But it's the women of these valleys who cut the most distinctive figures.
Their colourful clothing and headdresses are first to catch the eye, but their lifestyles are also a unique treasure of this remote mountain community.
STORYLINE:
Three lush valleys provide Pakistan's isolated Kalash community with enough water, crops and livestock to survive between the jagged mountains of the Hindu Kush.
But it's not an easy existence.
Cut off from the nearest town for three months a year, these subsistence farmers live simply and work hard.
The goats that provide the community with valuable milk, meat and leather need to be grazed at higher pastures during spring and summer.
In addition to caring for their families and homes, when the men take the herd to higher pastures for half the year, the women take on the men's chores around the village.
Hazrat Gul is a typical Kalash woman.
She says that as a result of their hard work and raising their children alone, the women of the Kalash are given a special status of respect.
Hazrat was married at sixteen.. one year later she gave birth to her son, Zulfiqar.

The Kalasha are a Dardic indigenous people residing in the Chitral Districtof Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. They speak the Kalasha language, from the Dardic family of the Indo-Aryan branch. They are considered unique among the peoples of Pakistan. They are also considered to be Pakistan's smallest ethnoreligious community, practising a religion which some scholars characterise as a form of animism, and other academics as a form of ancient Hinduism.

Their dresses and the way they set their hair looks so much like the ancient Kabyle did in north Africa.
Also, the way they greet one another, kissing the forehead and the hand is exactly the same old way the Kabyle did.

Do u ever heard about Hunza people living in Pakistan, who were 6000 illyrian soldiers of King Kleitos defeated by Alexander the Great and then to dont fall in the hands of Alexander fleed to the mountains of Pakistan. Their appearance is still completely european, they didnt mixed with other black tribes around them. The major part of them have blue and green eyes, brown hair, and the others very black and blonde hair. They are very tall, and live from 100-140 years...Interesting fact is that their language is similar to old Balkan languages ( Phrygian and thrakian ) and very very very very similar to albanian. This mean that albanias language is not new and this mean that we didnt came from Caucasus Albania. Today their is called Burrusheski by them, with in their language mean "the language of men", and in albanian burri=man...Today in their language they say: "I bukur si ylli" which means "Beautiful like a star ( for men )" and is no need to translate it in albanian, coz is the same like many other proverbs that i'll write. They say: "E bukur si Hana"-"Beautiful like a Moon ( for women )" ; "E kam ba"-Ive done ( it )"; Dhelpra e quan rrushin te thate kur nuk e arrin"-"The fox calls the grapes dried when she cant reach ( it )...etc etc...Also Hunza mean little nose, coz the mountains that they settled looks like a nose, they call their god with the name Di-Zau, similar to albanian Diell-Zau where Dielli means Sun, and Zau is the north albanian version of Zeus, and south albanian version is Zeu which mean Voice in albanian ( both Zau and Zeu, just in different dialects ), and dont forget that in antiquity all the names end with "s" ( Zaus, Zeus )...So, what do u think??
