I second all of that, but not sure if you know this but there's a lot of dirt on her that early in her days she was quite the spoilt diva. I think there was a time when Katrina was "it" girl of Bollywood and starred in every big movie! The Deepikas and Alias rose to fame much later. Katrina was very well celebrated and starred in a lot of big banner movies. And she was cast in those roles I am sure not for her acting capabilities, but for her beauty, sex appeal and dancing capabilities. I think things has definitely slowed down for her recently.

I myself am not Indian but I was exposed to Bollywood movies from a very young age, so I know these things. Cut them some slack, will you? they are trying their best to admire your country and everything it has to offer.

Dancing she learned much later in her career from the top dance choreographers in our country and later got known for her dancing prowess as well. She got major roles and became famous initially mostly because of Salman Khan who made her famous when she was in relationship with him. Her personality and work ethic is also very good. She is very hard-working, humble and accepting in nature that's how people came to love her due to her commitment to Hindi cinema even though she is from a different culture, language and country. She tried her best, gave it her all to adapt and excel in all the opportunities she got. Except her acting remained bad, but that's not her fault. That's what people love about her. Even though her acting sucks, she never had proper training in anything, she is a self-made woman. Acting can be learned with experience too. She has now built up a good reputation about her and made it a point to be cast in good films. She is one of the highest paying actresses too. So her long-standing good reputation, her work ethic, her dedication to constantly move forward, achieve bigger things and her persistence to stay relevant in the industry is what mitigated for the lack of acting talent she has. Although being a complete outsider and settling in a foreign country is not easy. She had her bit of struggles. But in the end she won everyone's hearts. People know that "that person is KATRINA KAIF"!! It's a huge achievement in a country of billion people. And all of them know her for her sexiness. She's improved over the years for sure but she's still not taken as seriously as an actress as the actresses you mentioned. Katrina is highly regarded more for her physicality and dancing abilities than her acting.

katrina's the biggest female superstar of her generation in india lol. there hasn't been any new actress who has managed to surpass her yet in terms of mass following. she's just not as popular in the big cities like mumbai as deepika or alia because she hasn't made a lot of movies that appeal to urban india so urban indians discredit her - but when it comes to the rest of india (which is the majority of india), she is the biggest star there is. basically like hema malini in terms of popularity with the masses. she's also better at the heroine roles (elevates the thankless ones) than the other girls in her generation.

In our class during mid to late 2000s Almost half of the class were Katrina fans , 20% Priyanka , 20% Aishwarya and the 10 % rest. She had caucasian looks which are different from others so that made her Exotic among the Indian masses plus the white skin obsession. So she was at the right place at the right time .
