- Slavery in the Caribbean and the Americas has been described as the most horrific atrocity the world has ever seen. Over the past 10 years, Caribbean countries have been making strong calls for reparatory justice to help African descendants heal and countries develop. Guyana has been among those countries calling for reparations and on Wednesday, President Dr. Irfaan Ali made it clear that countries aren’t asking for a palace. What countries need, he said while appearing on the Good Morning Britain television show, is adequate justice. The President also highlighted the need for reparations later in the day when he addressed the General Debate of the 78th United Nations (UN) General Assembly.

I don't have a problem with Richard's opinion. He's entitled to it. I don't agree with it but I'm sure many do (although he doesn't mention how the world superpowers are still overbearing towards former colonies, he's probably oblivious).
Its his manner that angered me. He could have politely debated or probed the Guyanese President instead of raising his voice and being sarcastic as well as abrasive. The way he slammed his hand on the table.

Guyanese should be thanking the British not begging for more. The British gave them the land and paid over market price for their sugar for 20 years. Why is no one asking Africa for Reparations.?? Considering they sold the slaves, had slaves of their own & still have slaves today.

President Ali, this is not a issue which needs your attention. The future of Guyana and the Guyanese people are more important. Guyana finally has the means to enable prosperity for its people, focus on that.
Let the colonists and African slave traders deal with their own conscience.
