Join me for a Retroshiz look back at the 1992 Kenner Batman The Animated Series Wave One Set of toys, part of my month long Fox Kids retrOCTOBER Countdown!
I had both Turbo Jet Batman and Penguin. My mom got them for my birthday, and I actually did lose the yellow missile a few days later and never found it. I wasn't too jazzed about Penguin, so that figure was lost to time. But I still have the Batman figure, though I eventually lost the other accessories too. I did want that Combat Belt Batman because it was the most screen-accurate figure in the line, and screen-accurate figures were hard to find back in the Kenner days of endlessly bright and crazy variants. And pre-internet, if you missed out on a figure when it was on the peg in the brick-and-mortar store, you were never going to get it.
Still one of my favorite toylines of all time. For Penguin's umbrella, it works like those "helicopter" tops. Twist it a few times, it'll wind up the spring and when you launch it, it should spin while flying forward. It's not perfect mechanism, because it is too heavy, and it tends to fly off in whichever direction. And you can store the whole contraption on Penguins back, the handle is a peg.
I loved this line as a kid, and Combat belt Batman was my one Batman from this line. It drives me nuts it's literally the only "normal" Batman in this line....even when Mask of the Phantasm came out, they re-released him but in silver.. BTW, I never got Penguin's accessory to work as advertised either. But it worked well as a top. I would launch it on the ground and have it knock over Robin.
These are so iconic and timeless and look great even years later. I remember not being able to find Robin and how frustrated I was going from store to store and wanting him so bad.
The best BTAS figures video I've sen! Do you plan to cover ALL the waves, figures and vehicles? Including de Crime Squad ones? I'm specially anxious for a review of Skycopter Batman as well!
I do love me a Retro Shiz. 👍
Massive BTAS fan here. I have everything in this video. Even have 2 combat belts
That medallion that came with Two-Face was a reuse of Kenner's Robin Hood Prince of Thieves line. It came with the Sheriff of Nottingham.
Makes a no sense with Twoface
I guess they were going for a coin type of accessory. Strange for sure. @@ToyShiz

I was also lucky enough to get a combat belt fresh off the shelf in 1992

I have been hoping you’d retro shiz BTAS for ages
I was gonna say the some thing 🎉
Man, going from Ghostbusters to Dark Knight Collection to Returns to this and Star Wars, Kenner got a LOT of my parents’ money as a kid.

This year I finally got a Combat Belt Batman. Crown jewel of my Batman collection.
R.I.P Kevin Conroy😪
And Richard Moll.
Such a beautiful line
I always thought that the turbo glider robin would have gone great with the air attack Batman from the batman returns line.
JSYK: Kenner used Two Face's body mold to make the Xanatos (Gargoyles) that came with the car.
Fantastic line, I had a lot of these carded, I sold them many years ago 💪😫and regret it every day.

I remember the first two waves were put out on the market at the same time. I never saw combat belt Batman in stores though.
2:35 Batbunz 😂
Are you gonna do them all like you did Spiderman??? :-)
That rocketeer Batman looks like he has a mullet when you look at it head on 😂
You forgot the hoverbat
🙄 no I didn’t.
But thanks for watching
