Man up. I'd expect my audience to be able to take a joke.
There is no way in a million years you have problems distinguishing the two. The sound is perfectly balanced.
I would LOVE of Age of mythology remake or sequel. And what you said.
Dear god, return of the king, one my childhood memories just sparked, SUPER NOSTALGIA.
Except videos are posted at the exact same time as they were in the first place, between 5pm CEST and 8pm CEST every day.
Guys, if this makes you dizzy, make a new tab or just do something else while watching it. The Mailbox is meant to be a podcast-style thing you only need to listen to. It's nice to watch the game for a couple minutes, but if for whatever reason you don't want to or can't watch anymore, just listen to the rest and do something else.
...That and it's nice to see an under-rated gem like NiGHTS on here.
Be grateful that he is working hard to make videos so we can watch them, and if you cant't watch them right away watch it the next day.
The return of the king was glorious!
I started playing when I was 4. I would get home from school and instantly boot it up. The first mission I remember doing was the Mongolian mission where you had to destroy Persia.
BFME2...
That was my favourite game for years.
Just so much fun. I'm happy to see I'm not the only one wishing for a BFME3.
Lord of the Rings: The Third Age was probably one of my favorite PS2 games. Aside from FFX it was probably my favorite JRPG of that era simply because of the grandeur of the Lord of the Rings movies around that time, I'd really love to see a modern game like that again.
Finally, someone talks about RotK game, which was fantastic
Finally someone that agrees that Return of the King completely rocked.
I absolutely loved Third Age and Battle for Middle Earth!
I preferred battle for middle earth 1 over the second one. I really loved the building-system and was sad to see it was completely removed in the second one.
i like this trend of "i you talked about this later, dont repeat yourself" emails.. it used to be a problem on some mailboxes where you will get the same emails over and over.. hopefully the Cynical Fleet is getting more clever..
RE: prerendered trailers, I think that's quite normal in the later stages of a console generation. In the first few years after a new batch of consoles is released, most trailers use in-game graphics because they are still novel and impressive. After a while those graphics start to look ordinary, so they switch to CG trailers (or PC graphics) in order to stand out. Then the next generation of consoles comes around and the cycle starts over.
This game is hypnotic, and strangely appealing to watch.
I wouldn't mind it in other mailbox videos if you keep playing it TB.
Some of the main settlements are custom built in 3.2 and most of them work fine. The only one that is not so good imo is Rivendell because it has to little space but most are just regular towns and castles from medieval 2
I remember Night in to Dreams, I could never beat Reala, but I loved every moment of it. Sitting on the Wii sequel, but haven't started playing.
and that, is dedication, thank you
I would love to see some nostalgic games in the background honestly, that was kind of refreshing.
I respect you Totalbiscuit and enjoy your videos.
I appreciate what you did with the 3rd question TB/Whoever else it might have been on the cynical brit staff.
Man I love this game so much.
Battle for middle earth is one of my favourite games of all time
I remember playing Nights back when I was a kid on the Saturn. God it was awesome.
Question 3 reminds me of back in the early nineties where Guess Who had to paste in the commercials, to the effect of, "cards don't really talk".
War in the North is the best LOTR game I've ever played.
Ah yes, Age of Kings, the first game I ever played. I played it for like... when I was about moths/1 year old to about 6 - 8 years old when I moved over to Age of Mythology. And then now I bean playing Age of Kings again. When I recently watched a random UA-cam video with the Age of Kings music in it I had such a strange nostalgia trip, so much nostalgia yet I barely could identify it's source since I had been such a long time since I heard the music and it didn't say what it was in the video.
I'm just gonna listen to your Mailbox this time.. the game is making my head spin
Yes, please!
This is a great video game for the mailbox, hope to see more of it here!! :D
the audio from the first 2 age of empires is imprinted in my mind if I hear sound effects I get a huge nostalgia trip ! and I am sure everyone else does too
This footage is melting my mind
Within the previous 2, just go there and click on the timestamps for when questions come up.
Completely agree on the pay as you go thing. I would love to buy the cod split-screen only, since that's the only thing I use.
I agree with this guy, a FTL series would be awesome.
The idea of splitting multiplayer and singleplayer is great and one I wholeheartedly agree with. For example, when it comes to RE6, I'd love to play through the campaign and see the story, etc. but I have absolutely no interest in multiplayer nor am I ever going to play RE MP. So, it would help me save money and get exactly what I want.
The idea of splitting games up is good, so long as predatory "make the whole complete bunch cost twice as much as the normal complete game would cost" stuff doesn't happen. It's a good idea, because it's like buying an entire series of a tv show for 300$, or just buying each season as you watch them for 40$ each. If you don't like it halfway through, you don't have to buy the rest of it.
However if you like it, you can sell the first few seasons and buy the box set for cheaper. Can't with games
because you dont see in advance what is ahead, due to the centered screen and the weird rotation. add the polygon levels and the highly radioactive color scheme, and yeah...
I enjoyed pretty much the Third Age, specially when I geared up the Gondor guy with the Elite Gondor gear. That was epic
I watched the MGS Zero Grounds trailer recently, while watching it I thought "This looks good, but it's not perfect, is this CGI or ingame footage?" Turns out it was ingame footage.
We're slowly getting to the point where we can render decent looking movies in realtime. No more need for huge renderfarms rendering single frames of movies for days.
People have played video games for over thirty years not giving any thought to graphics, and yet, nowadays, graphics are everyones main concern.
Early on the in video, but I have to say, War In The North was AMAZING. And The Third Age is awesome too! Two best games in the Lord of The Rings universe apart from Two Towers and the RTS's.
TB likes NiGHTS, TB you're my hero
Mostly just because i preferred the way 1 played and felt. It has been a while though so I might have to go back and play all three and get a fresh look at them all.
I completely forgot about this game! What memories...
Probably not, but I personally like what they did in AoE 3, they tried to add new stuff into the existing formula and even though imo the result wasnt immediately better, I did enjoy the fact that it wasnt just a new AoE 2
I like the cod campaigns. I do them from time to time when I have nothing else going on.
I am one of those people that don't actually care at all for the call of duty multiplayer. But I am interested in seeing through the campaigns as they usually have some pretty spectacular moments that are at least worth seeing once.
You had a few problems with the video, at 10:29 the text appears for your third question but your still going over the Second question.
Nice video by the way, nice to see Knights being played, never quite got the game but watching you play I can get some understanding of how it works! =)
Man Return of the King was a fucking amazing game. I could not believe it how cool it was, my whole family being huge Lord of the Rings fans.
7 billion people on this rock. You are never the only one.
Are you kidding me? I've had so much fun with it. Why wouldn't someone appreciate it?
I had no idea what the heck was going on in the background, but I was amazed.
SO much fun to play with my buddy. I had it on the ps2.
Trailers are not designed to show you what the game looks like though.
Thats like saying red bull never gave you wings when you drank it.
Well I'll say this for uhh... whatever that was. I often just listen to the mailbox in the background while I do something else, but I found myself watching this for some time.
The third age is pretty darn good.
yes it had random encounters, loot with diffrent items, a lot of skills, crafting and had a cutscene thingie with the movies!
i 100% that game.
twas awesome
he did actually do one, but people complained that it was repetitive and such (i kind of agree, he just went on about the graphics. not exactly what i expect from TB.) and he removed it from the channel and made an apology video. if you're reading this TB, good on you.
While I agree with you, they can't really call a Silmarilion game "LotR", which might pose problems from a marketing perspective due to more casual fans not being attracted by characters and/or settings they don't recognise. Such a game would have to be almost completely independent from the movies.
The game in the background... Why haven't I played this yet, looks absolutely amazing.
We had Lord of the Rings - Conquest for a while at the internet cafe I worked at. It was... kind of interesting (not very substantial though) and some of the melee classes were fun, if a bit boring. Multiplayer was broken, the Archer could kill from a distance. Everyone picked the archer class in multiplayer. Every time. Turned the whole thing into another bloody fps.
This is the first time a mailbox has ever made me dizzy :)
and then comes the fact that 3 platoons of Noldor archers could easilly wipe out an entire army of orcs, trolls and oliphants (whatever they're spelled)
Dear TB, I'm here for your comments and toughts, not some psychedelic and weird music. If you could lower the sound in some of your games for your video it would be awesome, Thanks.
This game is so hypnotic....
I'm actually surprised he didn't mention Guardians of Middle Earth in his first question. Seems like that would be pretty relevant to the question.
return of the king on gamecube was my childhood :D spent sooooo many hours playing that game. that and picmin, as well as mario cart/party. Ahhh those were some good days :D
I often listen to the mailbox with window minimized and sometimes sudden background noise throws me off, especially when the game in the background is some kind of shooter. It is ok if you are watching the video and know what's going on, but if you only listen to it, can get a little bit confusing.
Please reconsider adjusting it, since ingame sound isn't really what we're here for.
Food for thought!
I got nausea and a my head start spinning for staring at the bloody game for 5 min residents of Amsterdam you must love this game :P
Silverthorn arrows in LOTR BFME 2 were so overpowered.
Hey! I bought ghost trick for my NDS, and it was awesome.
Background footage was fun to watch imo. Don't really see why so many people are complaining, I would be fine with more of it or something like it in the future.
Return of the kings was indeed amazing
Lotr Battle for Middle-Earth is one of my favourite game.
LOTR :Third Age is amazing. I stayed up all night with my cousin, beating the game on Co-Op mode
I think this would actually be the only possible RTS-Game playable on a competetive Level (E-sports), that could get big side by side with Starcraft II.
And i would be a HUGE nerdy fan from it!!1!
FINALLY, someone appreciates LOTR, The Third Age...
Yes, but it's impossible to find out what Red Bull tastes like through your screen, so ads can't show you what it's like. Game trailers are quite capable of of showing gameplay, and after all that's what you're going to be doing if you play the game. This seems to be the best possible way to show what the game has to offer and to help sell the product. Provided that the graphics and gameplay are good enough and have nothing to hide, I don't understand why more trailers don't show gameplay.
The gole of the game is obviously to collect as many points as possible within time-frame which is constantly decreasing. You collect points by gathering those stars and going through hoops while flying around levels and at several instances you can use that clown to change your direction of flight and propel yourself. The only part I am unsure is, what I'm assuming is, a boss battle with the giant fish near the end. I have no clue why he kept slamming into it.
I was so bloody confused with the game in the background, but I was mesmerized by it o.O
Hopefully with the Hobbit films and the extra material being added from the Lord of the Rings appendixes, it will peak an interest in the Silmarillion and all of Tolkien's amazing universe that surpasses the Lord of the Rings.
making me want to go buy the 3rd age rented it before and played it nonstop. It's in a local store now for about 6 dollars with case and manual. I am a criminal for not getting it!
I certainly agree on the Third Age front. A great RPG that had that extra something of co-op if you plugged in another controller. My brother used to take control of a couple of characters, me the other half. Was a lot of fun. When you got bored of running around you just switched to the other heroes and let your friend carry on lol.
CoD 4 is not a recent iteration and he praised it because it did certain things correct, it didn't fail like the "recent" iterations and the current CoD.
I'm on the same page with you. Its different, the game is pretty, (although, for someone who hasn't played the game, it is a little hard to follow the reasoning behind some movements.) and I'll restate it for the fact that I think it needs it, it is different! Most of TB's background games have been (from what I have seen) FPS. So, I wouldn't mind seeing more of stuff like this at all.
Definitely agree with you TB, the "Return of the King" game was awesome, I played it to death when it came out. I rented "The Third Age" several years ago and had a blast when I had it.
Now on LotRO, I like it a hell of a lot better than WoW. It does so many things better IMO, game atmosphere, crafting, cosmetics, etc. Too many things to list and explain with this small message space.
Granted that I played LotRO first, though later I tried WoW for three months, left, and I doubt I'll go back.
Suggestion: narrow your subscriptions down or split them into two accounts with two seperate collums for new videos.
Just because it's not HD and CoD, it doesn't necessarily look bad. This game is very old, from what I can see, but if they'd have wanted better graphics in this time, they'd have gotten it.
Yes. Because Age of Empires 1 was the best of the series.
YES!! That is so true, the game was not balanced at all, heroes just dominated but damn was it fun, single player was so epic, especially the big battles being played from both sides, wiping out Minas Tirith as Mordor was always fun
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is an excellent game, glad it came out for iOS.
what a hypnotic video. i just listened to TB talk about shit and a purple man flying through rings
I think, in regards to the trailer about questions, it's a consumer-side issues. He admitted to buying games purely based on the trailers, which shows right away what the problem is - consumer discretion, lack of research, and responsible buying. If you admit to buying games purely based on the marketing hype machine, then you cannot complain about said hype machine.
They were absolutelly awesome, but they had a lot of game-disrupting issues and a lot of control problems. Problems that would be easily fixed by a modern engine. I agree with you, if anyone made BFME 3, I'd pay anything to get it.
Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth 2 Rise of the Witch King was the best LOTR game imo.
No, you shouldn't try Racoon City. For your own good, TB.
Also, Survivor was singleplayer. Outbreak was multiplayer (and, in concept, fucking amazing)
