I swear Volvo/Polestar has absolutely nailed exterior and interior design. Absolutely stunning.
are you talking about vulva or valve and of which machine
nah the interior is realllllyyy poor! a display floating style looks DIY, and then the shitty small display for the speedometer that doesn't have a home is a REAL waste!
they really have. they make everything else look dated and stupid.
but they nerfed front design
i went inside of the polestar 4 yesterday and it was the best car i had ben in
Those are sharp cars.
Polestar/Volvo continue to make the mistake of putting the infotainment display vertical.
The emblem on front and back should be lit up with led light, maybe a light blue color. That would set it off big time.
0:58 power number is lower but this will be the lightest in its segment
Very unlikely, the Polestar 5 is competing with the Model S Long range which is lighter than the Polestar 2 Long range already.
Model 3 Long range - 4050lbs
Model S Long range - 4550lbs
Polestar 2 Long range - 4650 lbs
Model S Plaid - 4750lbs
@@philippeferreiradesousa4524 you can't compare with Polestar 2 which is a transition car (non dedicated platform) for the brand with totally different priorities.
The polestar 5 will have a dedicated platform which will save some weight and it is announced to be very lightweight.
Thomas Ingelnath says car will be very lightweight thanks to a special frame. A mix of engineering and technological expertise that will engender a very light-weight sport car.
Knowing Polestar has a history of sport racing car i am very confident it will be very light. Forget about the Polestar 2.
@@philippeferreiradesousa4524 but this is a brand new bonded aluminum platform (lotus elise uses this technique) It’s not on the same platform of any other car they produce. And this is gonna be lightweight and rigid. Polestar claims that it will offer “torsional rigidity superior to that of a traditional two-seat sports car” as well as “weigh less than that of cars in smaller segments.”
Just because they produced heavy cars until now, doesn’t mean they can’t produce light cars. That’s a stupid argument.
Lucid joins Tesla, Elon Musk says; “Must Have Been A Bitter Pill To Swallow”
The Electric Viking
Yes I saw that comment from Elon.
Here is the truth about that:
Elon is STILL pissed of about Pete Rawlinsson left Tesla. Elon just dont understand how obvious it is. Just like Donald, Elon puts his own thinking on other (Pete) people.
Why you are citing an irrelevant clown?
Love the exterior. The only gripe for me is the interior screens. They look very low end. Some integration into the dash would look much better. Definitely doesn’t look like $100k+ car in that regard. Can’t wait to hear more about it.
Yeah, and tesla does?
Looks nice, they need to make a wagon version.
Much more beautiful than a Tesla ❤
Clearly it isn't a Plaid competitor, so I don't get that comparison (based on bad performance data I saw; does look to be playing in the same general space).
It does look like an interesting car. Hopefully getting enough to justify the price. Design-wise I like it. The lack of a rear window is something that would need to be tried vs just assumed.
It’s a larger 4 door ev sedan that’s got 900 horsepower. Why isn’t it a competitor.
@@kman0074 You’re right, looks like I misread an article projecting 0 to 60. Does look like it should be ballpark; makes more sense.
you're right it's not the same category because it is going to be 10 times better.
650Kw for Polestar vs 750kw for Tesla. it's clearly on the same market than Porsche Taycan and Tesla model S Plaid.
I don't see why it should be compared to them.
It will probably have ceramic brakes like the Polestar 2 performance and Ohlins dampers. So price wise it will be surely justified since all by themselves those 2 costs 15,000€.
On the contrary i don't actually understand why the Tesla model S is so expensive since it's just a model 3 with a more powerful motor.
It doesn't have brakes at all.... which for a performance car is a non sense.
That is a gorgeous looking sedan! It will sell like hotcakes.
When its out and test I will understand if its a Plaid competitor. With the new track pack it seems the Model S Plaid has become a track monster.
People seem to forget about the plaid plus.. that car was scrapped because the plaid was fast enough.. Don't think Tesla doesn't have that car waiting in the wings. 😉
Tesla is absolutly not a track monster. Compared to standard production cars from the "Legacy Auto Makers" Tesla MS Plaid is VERY slow around the Ring.
Or you do not know that??

great look and design for sure but for the money (and if I was looking at this market segment to purchase), I'd probably opt for the german equivalents. Geely will be happy with this product.
Gorgeus. I'm gonna get one.
News flash- SEB who owns 50 percent of Polstar just declared the company's net worth = 0. So what will Polstar owners do? Sue to get their money back? How will they get updates? How will they get any repairs done? How can you get blood from a turnip?
100k + the consumer would expect a range to be 400+
The MG Cyberster is an EV roadster due for UK release in summer 2024. I'd imagine the Polestar is going to cost considerably more.
Beautiful car but ridiculously expensive.
People forget that driving into the wind can limit the range on electric vehicles .
They look good BUT I'd prefer a petrol ⛽️ enjine.
Sweet car but not sold on that no back window deal.
i think polestar 6 is more fun but softtop is not making sense in the country i live so i 5 is more practical to have
wish they would fix the rear lighting design. its the only part of the car thats ugly. its like they couldnt get it and just gave up. nail those rear lights and youll have one of the most gorgeous cars out
I love it but I need a back window lol can it be optional?😂
Nice. 👍
Damn!
Can’t see people accepting the no rear window concept quickly. Interesting how many design elements are just like Tesla, hilarious
Who cares about 0-60 time if range sucks and most charging stations don't work.

polestar is made by geely and geely’s own claimed “1300hp” sedan is still slower than Tesla plaid, the 900ish polestar/geely is not even close to plaid acceleration
Please grove up (or maybee you are 12 y old?) Tesla is a one trick pony in a straight line up to a certain speed, which is not impressive at all)
A Tesla on a track is dangerous for the driver/passangers, bad handling, bad breaks and bad battery cooling.
Tesla has no knowledge in any kind of rally, rallycross or track racing what so ever.
But Polestar has, and that showes
Polestar is a brand in the Geely Group. Polestar is a Swedish brand. A lot of Polestar is made by Volvo. The Polestar 3 will be made in a Volvo factory. The Polestar 2 is made in China and will be made in Belgium in a few years. The Polestar 4 is moving from made in China to made in South Korea. So cars are made in different countries. Geely is like Stellantis. They have factories that build the cars but the cars are spec'd in Sweden. These are Geely Auto or Proton or Geometry cars that are produced and designed and engineered by Geely Auto. Polestar is not in the Geely Auto Group. They're in the Volvo Group in Geely Holding. Geely Holding is like VW Group. Geely Auto is like VW, the brand.
@@stennordenmalm9900 lol,you can’t even spell nor read
@@benjaminsmith2287 yes but I assume they use the same standard and power rating, their 900hp car will not go faster than their own 1300hp car , and their 1300hp car does quarter mile in 9.5 seconds which is 0.3 slower than Tesla plaid, and their 900hp one will be even slower
Q: An Answer To The Tesla Plaid? A: yes... SUCK IT ELON...!!!
Let me sum up Tesla ! I admire them as a company for what they have done for the ev market. Unfortunately for me i call it oh look there is another arsehole. I say that because like an arsehole EVERYBODY has one.
What i love about the Polestar 2 is unlike Tesla it doesn't look like an electric car but rather a normal ice car
Design is very elegant and sophisticated and a definate eye catcher 😁
Tesla shareholders should be very nervous right about now
very bad salon
Looks good, Looks like it will have major problems, good looks and bad software. Bad charging network. Does anyone believe Tesla can’t just hire the best designers in the world to create a car that will lose money on the manufacturing floor to claim its status?
Elon makes the eyes of white men seer red with jealousy, I’ve never seen this. Ever. Being considered intelligent, being considered The Tony stark blah blah. Really is a fantasy that was stolen from a lot of men by Elon. Fathers are no longer proud of their sons if they don’t have an answer for why they are engineers. Tesla is doing fine.. this only makes it worse. Never inspire your enemies. Tesla has an army of engineers watching as well. With a dominant lead over 2 generations that have yet to purchase cars.
No. Polestar is not targeting Tesla and wouldn't make a car with the overkill acceleration of a Plaid. That's not their focus. High build quality, fine road manners, ride comfort and sustainability is the focus of the 5, not outrageous straight-line acceleration.
On point!
This is a masterpiece in design
🇺🇸Federal Government must own all vehicle side mirror companies.
Free The Side Mirrors, Put Out To Pasture!
🐄moo over side mirrors. We are side cameras NOW!!!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, why does every single EV have to be called a "Tesla competitor"
Because this one competes with the Model S?
Because they are the best selling pure ev brand in the world, have the best selling individual car globally with the model y and defined the entire ev genre?!? They are the standard to beat in features, price, software, charging, and range.
If you buy an EV car now, it’s because of Tesla. As much as one would hate Tesla, the made Mercedes, Ford, Bmw, Kia etc… look into and make EV cars. They have the Tesla supercharger stations which no other EV car company has. 😅
I wouldn't mind a version of an ev with 1 motor at half power that gets incredible mileage. I dont need to be fast. my current truck goes 0-60 in about 10 seconds i dont ned faster that also i want speed limiters that says you cant go ever 75 mph under any conditions. and by all that is holy i dont need to drive what is clearly a tesla clone I want the lines the shape the styling of a car from the 50s
@@Flydevice1 don't see how that's relevant. If you buy an ICE car now it's because of Benz. But people don't call every new ICE car a "Mercedes rival".
In the vehicles I've driven with a rear camera "mirror," I prefer the mirror view rather than the traditional optical glass. 1) the cameras seem to show better visibility especially in low-light conditions, and 2) with rear head rests (especially a center headrest) or people/cargo blocking the natural view, the rear camera view bypasses those problems.
Yes! I hope soon every vehicle comes with one, or at least is an available option. Definitely coupes and the coupe suvs need them with the smaller rear windows they have.
cannot agree more. Nowadays the backside visibility is anyways so poor that a camera is a far better option.
In almost every nowadays, the rear windows is anyway super small and with very poor visibility
What in the rain? If you look at those camera’s on a Kia… with rain you do not see anything. No wipers 😀
@@driesdebackere5233 Heating element and protected location of the camera helps. This one being so far up and forward on the car probably wont get that much dirt or rain on it.
Polestar 6 looks really good!
It is gorgeous. From those specs, it won't be cheap. One added benefit of not having a rear window is no one can gripe about not having a rear window wiper. The squirting rear camera will take care of that, but usually squirting cameras are supposed to squirt the person getting their picture taken.
There we go! Sweet sweet sedans.
And a roadster! Even better.
No thanks. No rear window, seriously. Maybe give them 2-3 more years before they fold? Good luck getting parts and service then but at least you wont have to worry about a rear window.
this is way way way more attractive than a model s. Great job
Don’t know if you guys noticed, but the headlights of each polestar (Thor hammer) are further away from each other as the Polestar number goes up. It signifies its separation from Volvo as each new Polestar is engineered. Visual beauty at its finest.

Why not both? I love the 5, it looks like a blade compared to the bricks of Volvos past. The 6 also looks great for an open top vehicle. The rear window delete looks like something from Cyberpunk and I love that.
Yes but Volvo makes sleek cars now. The guy that led the design for the Polestar 5, the CEO of Polestar, led the design for many of the current Volvos including the sleek sedan, the S90.
Given the design has nothing to do with Volvo I dont see the connection.
Polestar 6 is the one I truly want to see get made. The polestar 4 and 5 looks nice, though, I have to see it in action.
Very limited halo car that may cost close to $200,000. The 5 will be expensive and probably won't sell in big numbers either. 5 is likely starting in the mid $90K range. The 4, not a ground-up Polestar design, will start at $60K so that's the one that will be seen more on the roads.
I want the Polestar 69.

Still having a mirror is a good idea, under certain lighting/weather conditions the camera is useless while a mirror still works. This is why GM rear view camera has a dual mode by just flipping the mirror.
eh could say the same for a mirror
In what kind of weather conditions is a mirror better when you don't have a rear window?
Millions of vans don’t have a rear window and mirror and drivers are just fine.
@@nilsjensen345 Or you have a mirror but no rear wiper to clean the rear window. I currently have a BMW 3 sedan as rental wich again confirms my rejection of sedans. Useless, unpractical and imho ugly cars.
re: "Still having a mirror is a good idea, under certain lighting/weather conditions the camera is useless while a mirror still works." yup, because: Eye Balls and Opposable Thumbs. while we Humans repeatedly show we don't know what the hell we're doing, in stark contrast it DOES seem Nature did indeed know what IT was doing when we were "fitted" with these "features".
It's got 3 things going against it. No rear window, lack of buttons, owned by the Chinese
Nobody cares!
This "owned by the Chinese" notion is tired and not well thought through. All Volvo, yes Volvo, because Polestar is an offshoot of Volvo and its personnel are mostly ex-Volvo personnel, needed was a responsible parent company. A good parent company grows a brand. A good parent company keeps the brand's heritage intact and doesn't dilute it. And that's what Geely has done for the most part. So, it's not any "the Chinese" that own Volvo. It is a private company called ZGH, Geely Holding, that does. And that private company has grown Volvo to sell more than ever, make their most stylish cars that continue with Volvo's commitment to safety, and have Volvo spin out a brand like Polestar. Volvo remains solid headquartered in their original home, Gothenburg, Sweden, and their personnel has grown and is infused with Geely capital So what is so horrible about that?
And if you' don't like exploitation of workers, don't buy chocolate or coffee or most products as most of them exploit workers or some production is in countries that oppress people. And Chinese made products or collaborated products are the majority of products Western people use.
@@benjaminsmith2287 no Chinese company is privately owned. The government has their hand in everything. That's the problem with Chinese owned anything.
@@ColeSpolaric American government has more hands than Chinese government. Their hands are all over the world.
@@kenbehrens5778 it's not a bad car. And yes, a lot of parts for cars are manufactured in China. That's something that is slowly declining though. Mexico has actually become our number 1 trading partner now. If China played by the rules I'd have a problem with none of it. But they don't. They steal technology, they subsidize products to undercut competition, they steal our data (and many people stupidly just hand it over), and directly or indirectly support our enemies. The only way to deal with it is limit the money flow. Unfortunately, that means a relatively decent car going unsold.
No. To be a “game changer” it has to be an affordable (or relatively affordable) car that large numbers of ordinary people can buy. This is an expensive luxury car that only relatively small numbers of wealthy people can afford to buy.
"Game changer" is a tired cliche and content creators need to stop using it. It's meaningless now it is so overused.
I don't understand why we need another super premium EV that only a few can buy. We need a people's EV that everyone can afford if electric cars are going to replace the majority of cars on the road.
There are plenty of those in China and other brands will come out with them. Polestar isn't about needs, it is a high-priced premium offshoot of Volvo. The entry level car is the 2. The next one is the 4 but that starts at 60K. Want a majority car, look at another brand.
The company makes far more profit on the premium models.
Buy a BYD. They're targetting that market. Polestar isn't.
I would prefer a Lotus from the Geely garage. It has a better design than the rest of the portfolio. Their Emeya will be a cooler looking clone of this vehicle.
Geely is a Group of sometimes disparate brands. Lotus is using a Zeekr framework but modified it to produce the Emeya. The Polestar is from a top ex-Volvo design team and is its own vehicle Both nice but very different vehicles.
Lotus will have a different price tag..
Why does there need to be “an answer to the Model S Plaid”? What does that even mean? You make it sound like the Model S is somehow a bad, negative thing in the world.
I realise you’re writing titles like that for clicks and views, but it’s just ridiculous this narrative that Tesla are something that needs to “be beaten” or something we need to “find and answer for”.
Do better.
Good Lord, Polestar...stop copying Tesla with that outdated vertical center console display UI and come up with your own novel design...Fisker literally allows you to at least rotate the screen horizontally...
Tesla model S is a piece of expensive Camry with some buggy software and lots and lots of plastic. Why on earth are you comparing a luxury car with a Tesla? Stop comparing with none sense and only model Y and 3 are the best selling model S and X are no where near sales of other manufactures
Does look good
Should start production of this Polestar 5 in the end of 2024 and stop the production of Polestar 2.
hopefully i can trade my Polestar 2 with this one in 2025

man that interior looks horrible!!! The terrible DIY looking display just is really poor! Because the outside is stunning, but that interior, what a damn waist! A real shame to see, with also that bad looking steering wheel!
Volvo might be extinct pretty soon with how good looking the polestar brand is. Well done
Volvo is fine. Their design teams are closely related to Polestar's sand they work together. A lot of the components in the interior and some in the exterior are shared between Volvo and Polestar.
Both are just Geely cars
@@davedyer3654 That's where people are absolutely incorrect. Geely is ZGH, Geely Holding a group, just like Stellantis or VW. Polestar is a brand from Volvo not Geely. Geely acquired Volvo but Volvo is an established brand that creates cars in Sweden. .They don't have Geely create their cars and stick Volvo badges on them like some people seem to believe. I get tired of hearing people say Geely this and that when Geely is the same thing as VW Group in terms of having a brand vs. a group. A Porsche is not a VW. It's a different car brand. But it is in the VW Group. A Polestar is not a Geely but it in the Geely group. Geely makes some brands, but not every brand in their group. They may manufacture some brand's cars in some of their factories, but they don't make the specs for those cars beyond the platform which is collaboration of some of their brands as well. Most Polestars are made by Volvo and one is based on ZEekr which is a CEVT car and pretty much all Zeekrs are designed in Sweden not China but the Zeekr brand. The Zeekr brand is not Geely Auto. They all compete against each other in the same segment! There are plenty of EV’s that are better than Tesla so enough with the Tesla competition thing! And in regards to game changer? Just another expensive EV! Game changer will be the first affordable EV under $25,000 with more than 300 miles or range! Not these ridiculous expensive cars! I mean, how many are buying these $70-$100,000+ vehicles now a days? Auto manufacturers are not building affordable cars because they just make more money selling these to the rich than selling affordable to the upper middle class and under. And governments want to ban ICE by 2035! 😂😂 good luck with that!
Seriously... enough with the 800HP and 0-60 times sub 3s cars...
What we really need is a car that goes reasonably fast, drives well, is well-built, can do 1,000 km on a single charge in ANY weather... for under $30K.
The world doesn't need any more street legal hyper cars... we need to get the masses into EVs.
Price and range anxiety are ALWAYS the two big concerns. Please focus on those.
These are two nice looking EVs, where I really haven't seen many that look good. Tesla's are the car everyone is competing with, but it's like they're trying to out-ugly Tesla also. And thank baby jesus himself that they're producing non-SUV/Crossover vehicles. Sick to death of them.
I'm really leaning towards getting a Polestar or the Volvo EX30 vs a Tesla. They just seem to have more character, but Tesla has the infrastructure the others don't.....so conflicted.
Wired point, licid has been faster the Tesla all the way, first now Polestar har something nearly expensive.. not wild.. just what fast cars are able to today. They of cause outdate traditionel v8 power..
Show us a real complete production, this are worthless. How much, real certified range, price will be much higher, guessing is worthless. Good looking but software makes all the difference in the world.
I like that both of these supposedly will be available to American buyers in the near future along with the earlier releases. As a Land Rover owner whose local JLR dealership closed years ago, I am concerned about support if you don’t happen to live in a major urban area.
Car looks great but that car isn’t going to be anywhere near a Plaid with only two motors. It will probably run close with a Taycan.
That's what they are targeting. Not the Plaid. Polestar has said nothing about the Plaid in their promotion of this car and said it is a Taycan competitor.
I know that the Taycan is awesome but it cost more, less efficient and half the range of a Model S. I can see why they’d rather compare it to a T instead of an S. If I was going to get a Taycan. I’d look closer at a Lucid instead of this…
Its blowing way past it in design
Nice, but good Luck charging it on the non-Tesla public charging network. The actual reliability of this EV, like any other EV is inexorably linked to the reliability of the public charging network that it can actually connect to….
