I really wish you had continued this series. When ever I have difficulty with world building idea I would go back to these videos to watch them over and over again to get ideas. Anyway keep up with the good work in your future projects.
I love it! I think could easily come up a formation (it does require very wide roads though) that is almost or at least very hard to ambush from the side. Consider this: they travel with the civilians and non-combatants in the middle, to each side you have the war wagons crew (with quite a few ranged units) as well as the war wagons themselves (for the additional perpus of shielding and consealing the more vulnerable elements of the group) then on the outside the war wagons you have pikemen and the next layer is fighters with towers shields. Artillary pieces intersperced/dissperced in between the gaps in between the war wagons and a combined cavalry core (horse archers, mounted crossbowmen and mounted gunners sandwiched in between heavy charge and heavily armored cavalry) at the head and tail of the line. Repeat this make-up of formation and you would be very hard to ambush against mostly melee ambshes I would think. Does this sound like a good strategy???
The sad thing is that the empire uses its war wagons completely wrong, only for drive by shootings. But check out the kislevite war wagon from Warmaster. Now, tactically that thing is modelled right after hussite tactics even featuring light artillery. I do hope we'll get as DLC for Kislev in wh3. Wagon Castles would be something new and unusual in total war!!
Great video! I think the warhammer version of the war wagon is more akin to Self-propelled artillery . They aren't used in formations or to create a protective line for troops.
In lore theres one armed like that, the alter kamarad, or old friend, back when krell was teased as "an old friend", people were anticipating the tank.
@@wyverngaming3468 Yeah, there are still alot of units from the empire that arent in the game like the Sniper Handgunners from Hochland, happily there a mods that fix that :)
Ok, not to sound like a dick, but can you link the sorces for your reserch. I'm trying to convince my pathfinder DM that battle wagons are an actual thing. I'm trying to make a heavily armored combat wagon armed with 4 repeating crossbows and a crude cannon at the top of it. It would be filled with clierics to channel divinty bomb the oncoming zombie hords.
Not sure why this didn't pop up on my notifications, but as for my main sources. 1)Toulky Ceskou Minulosti(Part 2) - This is a Czech book, and im not sure if it has an english translation 2)Osprey Men at Arms #409 The Hussite Wars 1419-1436 - Probably a more easily accessible book. 3) bellum.cz/en/ - Has a rundown of many of the major battles in the Hussite Wars 4)The chapter from Asia Major "Fang Guan's Chariots: Scholarship, War and Character Assassination in the Middle Tang", can be found here www.jstor.org/stable/41649966?read-now=1&seq=1#page_scan_tab_contents 5)www.burnpit.us/2017/06/battle-aussig-hussites-besiegers-defeat-german-relief-force 6)R.G. Thank you for addressing a strong curiosity I had on this subject.

Yeah, the war wagons in WH are definitely a bit different from history when it comes to their usage, especially in game!
It is likely something like indian war elephants
Hey man, i find the comparison between history and warhammer very interesting as well. Do you have any other videos like this?
This is actually my first video on the the subject, but I'll probably be doing more like it in the future!
Sounds like the War Wagon was what the Technical is to us today. A transport turned gun platform.
Not really, as the war wagon is more mobile fortification than the Technical.
Honestly, the only thing GWS would have to change to make these wagons more realistic is getting rid of the scuffolding underneth
a tank with a hellblaster gun would also be cool :)

ua-cam.com/video/yGUEqszHRwI/v-deo.html SandRhoman made a pretty good video about the husite wars and the war wagons :D
I think warhammer sounds bad fucking ass
