- I’ve not done this myself and am not a professional. This is just what was shown to me and it makes sense. Mine is a closed system so after everything described in the video I then need to top up with water using the tap from the mains up to 1.5 bar (cold pressure).

just re-pressurised the expansion vessel in the very same boiler, only difference is i had a overflow condensation plastic trap type vessel with clip on grommet just underneath it. which i had to remove as i couldn't access the schrader valve as it was to close. when i removed it, it had a plastic grommet which i couldn't put back. you're boiler is installed really well. mine not so great. discharging water from boiler is big problem. very hard to tell if valve is open or closed. its a really bad design. anyway along with your video and the help my two gas engineer mates via whatsapp video call got it sorted. new found respect for gas engineer. boiler manufactures don't make it easy. hopefully my tenant appreciates all the hard work we do for them

Marcus, if water does come out of the air valve, does that mean there’s a problem with the tank?
I’m not qualified in any way, but I believe so. I understood there is a bladder type effect that is supposed to keep water from getting to the valve. Water out the valve suggests the bladder has failed. I don’t know what the consequences of this would be or whether it’s a big or small issue. Perhaps search on forums for failed bladder in an expansion vessel…
