- Carolina Mixer captured the Artimus Pyle Band performing Lynyrd Skynyrd's "On The Hunt" in Studio B of the Liberty Of The Seas cruise ship as part of the 2013 Rock Legends Cruise. The song appeared on the 1975 "Nuthin' Fancy" release.

I met Artimus way back in the day in Kentucky before he joined Skynyrd. Our bands were doing a gig, and i remember talking to him. We were talking, and he was really good so I listened to him. We talked about how tough it would be to earn a living at this Rock thing, and I'll never forget what he said. He looked me dead in the eye and grabbed my shoulder and said, "Just don't quit! Never quit!" Well, I did. He didn't, and ended up with Skynyrd. And he still does it. The guy is for real!
Artemis played with the originals. The best..... He has carried it on humbly , greatly with passion and respect.

Scott Raines is a bad man....I went to see Skynyrd in Macon, Ga in 1975 and heard this song for the first time. For 3 bucks:) Lynyrd Skynyrd music will live on forever.

Artimus moved into my area of western NC awhile back. He is and always will be a legend. He still has the talent even as he's gotten older. These guys in this band are absolutely fabulous.
Artimus is very high vibrational. I had a blackout a year ago. I can't do the work I did a year ago. I've always loved skynyrd but not like this. I've been really into listening to skynyrd a lot. I got into a deep depression not working. I've worked since I was 15 1/2
I'm 40. He's right when he says the "new skynyrd " with Johnny doesn't sound right. I've seen the new skynyrd twice in my life. The drums bring it alive no matter who's playing guitar, piano or vocals. The drums keep it in line. He's straight. He's got it. He had it from go. The new skynyrd is all over the place with their drums.
No one will ever compare to what they had in the 70s. However this is pretty damn close. You just don't listen to music. You feel it.

Artimus Pyle is an American treasure. An American original. One damn proud rockin' drummer. Still keeping it real like Ronnie ask him to do when he was hand picked by him.

Met Artimus Des Moines Tribute tour Allen was there in wheelchair ,also Johnny &Ronnie's dad introduced the band. Artimus had the star of David on his business card, gave him mine from a band I worked for called EARGAZM ,had backstage and front & center seats for Rossington band, & SKYNYRD

I will tell you that if you could play like Scott, and that green Strat starts a cryin, the hair on your neck will stand straight out land you will not have any control over any facial expressions your brain creates in the heat of the moment. That’s how it works for me when my SG nails it. That’s what electric guitar does.

Just watched an old video of smokestack lighting . show AP playing drums e.k. guitar and rest of band what looked like nothing but a party, so sad that at one time all really close

You say Scott makin that green Strat cry is not a “real guitar”? I disagree. I am a Gibson owner myself and I love it. I do not own any Fender products but only because I like the feel of Gibson. I would be surprised if Scott doesn’t own several Les Pauls as well as several Stats. They compliment each other beautifully and Scott is a master at making it sound that way.
Maybe go have another cup of coffee and listen again, but louder this time.

And just because Gary has the right to the name, doesn't mean he should be using it. IMHO, Artimus using the name doesn't make it LS, anymore than Gary using it. If you don't have Ronnie VanZant, there is no LS-period.
