    I think it's super important to rush the nearest encounter with your hero at the start of the game. The rewards from an encounter can provide a huge tempo boost to your development. Since they're random, you want to find out which one you're getting ASAP before committing to a particular strategy. There's nothing worse than revealing an encounter whose bonuses are redundant with what you already have.

      That's a solid tip right there! I actually get too excited about the encounters and focus on them over other, more important gameplay elements. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

      @@viaumarcandreI Played them in my first game and really struggled to get to any encounters. Everyone else seemed to be generating lots of resources from their multiple encounters. My single encounter gave me power & some popularity :( How does one deal with this issue as it seems completely out of your hands?

    Tip: Popularity is probably your most important resource. If you get to tier 3 (13+) and none of your opponents do, you'll have a big leg up on them when it comes to final scoring. Figure out early how you're going to boost your popularity, and if you see the chance to go for lucky number 13, then do it.
    On the flip side, unless the game goes super long or something weird happens, you're unlikely to get the star for maxing your popularity, and should plan to get 5-6 stars somewhere else.

      Once I've got that 13 Popularity 💞 and I'm ahead in stars, I like to go back and forth between gaining popularity through ongoing recruit bonus activations and either producing with six or more workers in play or sending my character encounter hopping to pay Popularity costs. That way, I'm still in Tier 3 but not getting my sixth star so I've still got some time to nab a few more bottom row actions, preferably the one that nets me four coins each time.

      While I think that it is true, it is extremely hard to go up that track if your competition is playing accordingly aggressive. Had a game yesterday in which i was the only player at Stage 1 Pop (0, to be precise), while everyone else was at stage 2. However, i got a better engine going than them and on turn 14 moved to the factory, won 2 battles and accomplished my mission, for 3 star turn. i ended the game the next turn by deploying my last mech, thus winning me the game because all the other players couldn't catch up in stars. So while Pop is really nice and strong you should only go for it, if you can keep up with the rest of the boardstate while doing so. More often than not a fast player can end and win the game without any popularity, if everyone else is too passive

      Did not help in my game. The winner did get to Tier 3 as did I. But I was beaten by someone on Tier 2 who achieved all their objectives and occupied a large area. There must be a balance somewhere??

    Your most common actions are move and produce. Look at what is the bottom action to those two top actions and try to have the resources available to do them. (I know it is not always possible.) Trade to get them if you have to.

    I always enjoy playing behind the scenes, all while setting up a turn in which I can go from 0 to full stars in 1-2 turns.

      Ooh, yeah that can be a high risk strategy, but very rewarding if you pull it off!

      How do you go from 0 to 6 stars in 1 turn? Can you give an example? I'm always looking to learn tips from other gamers on one of my favorite games. I can think for getting 4 stars with taking a move action to engage in two separate combats and winning, completing a bottom row star, and fulfilling an objective all in one turn. In my experience, getting 3 stars in one turn is more doable but to even do that two turns in a row is rather risky and hard to pull off. I have done 5 stars in 2 turns a few times.

    • @RTFM
      @RTFM  3 роки тому +1

      @@LeeKenshin7 If you get four stars as you've laid out, but you also have a recruit in the move space that triggers popularity, that could get you to five stars. And if you're playing Saxony, you could theoretically get a 3rd combat star if you've upgraded movement or a second quest star if you complete both quests in one turn. Verrrrrrrry fringe, but technically doable.

    • @LeeKenshin7
      @LeeKenshin7 3 роки тому +1

      @@RTFM Thanks for the example. Indeed, very fringe. If you can pull that off, then I think the other players are rather unskilled/not paying attention. To win 3 combats in one turn requires much power and your opponents should see that unfold combat by combat and as you say, faction-specific. I do believe the new encounter deck has ways to "delay" getting a star if certain conditions are met later in the game so that could help to sneak in a star. I just think all the setup would allow a skilled opponent to just end the game before the payoff happens. But that just makes it all the more glorious if you can pull it off.

    I recommend people STOP at 5 workers. Why ? Because worker 6 make it so your produce costs popularity and you dont rly need that many peasents. It saves you so much popularity that you can get the popularity star by accident. Higly recommend.
    Also buy Fenris expansion so you can have more fun playing as Albion or Togawa, because you can buy upgrades to your speed, making your mecs move as fast as the other factions.

    After someone has put their 4th star down, spread out to as many territories as possible. The end of the game is near.
    Try to get your popularity up to the second tier if possible.
