For me, I think Kamijo is perfect vocalist for Versailles! I do not like much when he does his higher screams between lyrics for animation but I love his singing style very much! You MUST do Faith and Decision. The song is from the same band. First part of the song is only instrumental and it is one of most beautiful songs ever written. It was written for their last bassist who died suddenly and you can feel the pain and hope for salvation in every note. Since my mother died I feel this song so much different. I am sure everyone that lost someone will feel the message and be touched. Thank you for reacting to them! ^~^
I really, really don't get the hate on the vocals. I get that they can be jarring if you're expecting a high pitched power metal singer, but that's not what Versailles is about. They're a character/narrative driven band. They're also trying to put across actually being from the Baroque period. Kamijo's baritone fit the music perfectly. It also makes them unique. He has had a loooooooooooooooong career as a vocalist, doing eight albums with Lareine before Versailles was even an idea, and he's done a bunch of solo work and even filled in for Malice Mizer.
I don't like it either.... I think the words I might be looking for to describe the reason why I don't like it is that it sounds.... how do I put this... I guess like an eccentric excessively over dramatic play in a kind of eccentric way, and I REALLY can't stand stuff like that. I will literally get up and walk out of a performance if they're doing something like that on stage or on screen, no matter what it is. Something about it just hits me the wrong way and it just irritates the hell out of me, and at that point my thoughts are I'm incredibly uncomfortable with this and I have better things to do than sit here and let someone irritate the hell out of me. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I have a high emotional IQ (called an EQ by people who study psychology), and it makes me fast to pick up on and sensitive to stuff like people gaslighting, being emotionally manipulative, being overdramatic divas, responding in to a situation in a strange way emotionally, etc. If someone does that crap I'll be the first one in the room two put distance between me and them. 🤣

Meh I get it, it's a marmite kind of voice. It's like Avenged Sevenfold, people either tend to love or hate M. Shadows. I has friends that all lives Ronnie Radke and I could not stand that guys voice just sounded whiny to me.
Now that you guys gave them a shot I can give a little more info. So the two guitarists are seen as the absolute top tier of guitarists from Japan, only know of Syu (Galneryus) that is considered really to be better than them.. Versailles backstory is that Kamijo (vocals) is a vampire and the band members his posy, and they choose to associate the band with roses as they are red they share that color with blood. And because there image of a vampire is the renaissance type vampire often used in films like Helsing etc they wear that type of clothing. (And also very suiting is that the music they play is neo classical/prog/symphonic metal that also uses a lot of the compositional elements of renaissance music). The song "Faith and decision" that was requested is a masterpiece written by Hizaki (guitar) and Kamijo to honor the previous bassist that first got sick when the band got signed and just a few days later was declared dead. However if you want a shorter song again, I would suggest Aristocrat's Symphony.
That isn't even remotely true about the Hizaki and Teru. hide Matsumoto, Akira Takasaki, Sugizo, Miyavi, Syu, Kanami, the list goes on and on. In fact they directly stole part of the solo from Endless Rain by X Japan in Serenade.

Lol don’t fall into hizaki’s trap. The main guitarist in the dress that does all the dope AF solos is a dude too lol and kamijo is the vocalist. He’s been singing since the 90s I believe. I can imagine with a deep baritone Verbrado (I don’t think I spelled that right) being constantly used at a concert like that he’d be out of breath after even just one song and he sounded hella out of breath. He def grew on me tho :) might I suggest vampire by them or zombi :D god palace is that 10 min long one and prince is the one that sounds the most mystical? Magical? Like fantasy adventure sequel I guess. That was the song that got me into them 🤷🏻♀️

Versailles is my fav band forever and ever, thanks for the react! I hope you can give a chance to Faith and Decision. There are 2 versions: Holy Grail version and Nippon Budokan's version. Everyone says HG version is better because it was a very touching and amazing performance, since HIZAKI (guy with a dress lol) composed the music for Jasmine You (Versailles' first bass player, RIP) and the lyrics are by KAMIJO (vocal), and it's really amazing. Nippon Budokan is good too because they were celebrating their 10th anniversary (got a chance to attend that concert; was the best of my life!). So both versions are good :) About KAMIJO's voice: I've been following him for so many years now, and indeed he doesn't have the "best" voice, but as I read in other comment, he has the perfect voice for Versailles. Anyways, he's an amazing composer: MASQUERADE was composed by him. On Versailles he has also "God Palace" and "Aristocrat's Symphony", and many other of course xD but those are some of his best Versailles compositions imo. And on his solo project he had composed some epic things like "Symphony of the Vampire", "Heart" or "Sang I & II". If you can, give those songs a try as well! :) And finally, if you can, please listen to Jupiter (HIZAKI's other band). They changed their vocalist recently and they sound way heavier than Versailles :D you can try "SHOW MUST GO ON". (Sorry for my long comment lol, I love this guys and I want them to be recognized and loved by a lot of people!)
I think Nippon Budokan is also good too, since the camera man did a great job here, the moment when Teru is on the middle of stage, and camera puts behind him just about to lift his guitar on the solo, is just breathtaking. But Holy Grail version is amazing on Masashi's solo part, he lifts up his bass to his leg and at the same time keeping the note with the finger. It's just amazing.
If you ever react to Faith and Decision from Versailles, please make sure you look at the Holy Grail live performance, imo the best one (lasts more than 16 minutes, be warned :) )
@@hopsmetalshow3413 I want to add to the comment of miticophoenix about the live you are going to watch if you do watch that live Faith and Decision it is a live with Lots of symbolism in this performance, there's the butterfly on the stain glass which represents Jasmine, there's feathers on each member's costume, the much longer pause... Lots of special details. It took them 10 years to get to Budokan, and that was after a hiatus where I'm sure no-one knew if they would reform. The whole concert is one big emotional tribute to Jasmine You The Original Bass Guitar player that died. They bring out Jasmine's bass at the end of each show for the band bow.

Just short correction. Faith and Decision was written by Hizaki (the guitarist in the dress) with lyrics by Kamijo. The moment of silence was only introduced in later live performance. I love Interview with a Vampire but I believe they took inspiration from Malice Mizer who were first band that introduced classical barock music and clothing into Visual Kei. I am not sure about time and politic but Versailles was the principal royal residence of France in renaissance time and the band borrows much of their music and style. So I think it is like Malice Mizer with different time. Faith and Decision is awesome ^__^ I want to see reaction so bad XD. There can never be too much reactions to this song!

I meant "Cycle", a Japanese band featuring the guitar player Panther, formerly Circuit V Panther. Unfortunately these guys have kind of fallen into obscurity and I guess they're not active. Shame. Kamijo is also using some vibrato in his voice but it’s not whiny. I like Ronnie Radke’s voice too!

Hops Metal Show agree, most people react to the more recent Budokan live but I greatly prefer the live from the same holy grail concert.
