@@OrchardKoi only thing Im thinking , how would it work with plants in the pond ?and I wouldn’t want it to strip the algae ‘carpet’ from the sides . I guess its a case of how long you use it
@MrSmithy63 yes how much you leave it on and what your total water volume is will dictate that. Think about diffuser placement. from what I can see so far the closer it is to something the more chance it oxidisises those micro-organisms first.
Following progress with this and now subscribed, I’m a little surprised these are not more widely used or incorporated in systems of koi keepers I follow on here. Given the benefits described in your video. When you consider average costs of equipment this seems a low cost outlay for a lot of alleged benefits. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to your next update of this 👍
Yeah it really has. Surprised me. Obviously I'm running a smaller capacity than most , an really over feeding , but i still didn't expect that diff, especially as I didn't buy it for clarity. Feeling an Ozone vs UV coming at some point.
Hi Dave, I was of the understanding that ozone shouldn't get in contact with the fish and a reaction chamber is used before entering the aquarium/pond? As I know ozone can damage fish? Be curious to hear your thoughts and if that had changed? Plus does it say how often you would need to change it? As the older model I had lasted for about three years, dut I couldn't source the replacement part to keep it working. Lastly, I would have thought the unit would have been tested prior to sale so it wouldn't leak, especially when you used the tape as I would always recommend where water is involved. Very interested in your thoughts👍 got the bit about it not being harmful, still would be interested to hear your thoughts
So it's all about how much you are putting through the water. The dosage of this unit is only 500mg per hour. As soon as it hits the column it gets to work on oxidising and doing it's job by the time its half way up alot of the dose has already oxidised with whats in the water - it really is unstable and looks for that extra electron quickly. I did some research on this before I bought it as I Too wondered about the going direct into the water column- ozone has been tested on salmon in aquaculture farming at different doses and like all things the right dose is key, enough to damage the bacteria and parasites and destroy the disovled organics, but not enough to damage the fish gills. I'm going to sort our a meter to measure exactly what is going in etc an will do an update on that. I have it installed a little over two weeks and have seen no adverse effects on any of the fish, but obviously still early days. Problem with a reaction chamber , in my view, is your limit what gets treated by the flow of the system. The other element being you want it as far away from the filter bacteria as possible as to not effect that. Like alot of things, there does seem to be a general apprehension on ozone with kpi keeping, part of the reason I want to test it and document it, as I know from my time with marine fish it was very highly though off, and if you have kept corals, you'll know they are sensitive delicate creatures. Not like our hard as nails carp. On the parts side they recommend every 6 months. £30 for the ozone producing part. Which I don't think is too sad. And yes the leak just seemed a factory defect on the seal, happens I suppose. Eco filtration had a new one sent out in under 24 hours no hassle. Hope that helps, thanks for the great questions 😀
@@OrchardKoi definitely helps as the same as yourself, I would be up on previous ozone modules that wouldn't be suitable for koi. How do you like it so far? Do you have an Orp meter, you’ll should see the difference. I run mine and after 2 days the Orp run straight up, so very happy with it for now
In the process of getting one. So far, I'm very impressed. As I said the water quality was a shock, I don't chase gin clear water with amount I feed , but it has removed a lot of dissolved organics which only helps the fish appetite.
No I didn't if you email them via sam@eco-filtration.co.uk they will get back to you. Personally found them very quick. Cheers dude glad you found it useful. 😊

Hi nice vid I never seen this before Guna have a go put one on my system but don’t have air in my pond only ibc for moving bed with 2 air disk do you no if can stick ozone on 1 of the air disk in moving bed
Hi there- No 100% do not connect this to a diffuser in your moving bed, a large portion of ozone will be attacking the bacteria you want to thrive in the filter system, and stoping your nitorgen cycle breakdowns. If you want it into a part of your filter system It needs to go after any biological filtration where it can mix freely with the water in your system without getting at your filter media bacteria. Ozone oxidisies quickly with what ever micro organisms it finds first. Hope that helps
I'm currently putting through its paces. Wanted to make sure I've had a decent amount of time to see dIfferent things with it, i plan to do an update soon.👍
