It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out that not all of those wintery clips were current... 😂 as a fellow SW Ontarian I was losing my mind thinking "what the hell is going on, we definitely haven't had this much snow yet right? There's no way I missed that much snow." I'm notoriously oblivious though so it wouldn't have been unprecedented.
Winter is nice yes, I'll be much happier when it's finally here to stay 🌬️❄️⛄

OOH hope you see this, bc _Three Blind Mice_ by Agatha Christie is an amazing winter read - short story about a hotel/b&b that gets snowed in. A murder happens and ppl slowly start to unravel and go a bit crazy. It's very very wintery vibes and super cozy, plus it only takes like 15-30 minutes to read.
Edit: just remembered another one! If anyone has read _Where The Mountain Meets the Moon_ by Grace Lin, the third and final installment of the series - _When The Sea Turned to Silver_ - is super wintery vibes too. So is _The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe_ by CS Lewis.

Wanted to give a couple winter manga recs: To Your Eternity is a very sad but moving story that is fantasy with a large world and many different characters, it will make you cry and is very good. Secondly, Land of the Lustrous has characters and relationships that reach you in such a way that is just great. The panels and art in that one is beyond amazing. Both of these have great anime adaptations too, and have parts set in winter with the perfect vibes for the season. Highly recommend!

Adding Moominland Midwinter to my TRB. I already pretty much have my cozy winter TBR for this year planned so maybe have to push it to next winter but nothing is set in stone. I get seasonal depression pretty bad in the winter and since 2018 I have lived in an old converted inn in northern New England (which yes is pretty cool) but one of the draws backs is I am over an hour away from family and friends with the only major highway getting shut down during bad storms. Also, since it is a rural small town, there is no downtown area and it is actually fairly dangerous to walk on the streets after dark due to poor lighting and minimal shoulder on the roads. The feelings of loneliness and isolation have increased since moving up here so I push all my heavy/deep reads until summer when I get to chill with all the loons (the birds, not the tourist).

Hi Emma, Your videos bring peace to my mind. I love the cinematography of all your outdoor/snow videos. Besides sharing the same Birthday,I think you are the only other person that has expressed their love of Winter as much as mine. I see the Season as a time to relax, rest, and enjoy the beauty of the calm, and stillness of Nature. The Nutcracker is my very favorite ballet. I was lucky enough to see a live performance with a very dear friend who is no longer with us. I have that magical memory of her gifting me that ballet. Calcifer was in a talkative mood...I didn't know cats like avocados ! Please film more snowy /outdoor scenes, I love them. I keep hoping for a "White Christmas" but, I fear it will be in the 50's again like last year ! Cindy

This was just lovely! I am not a winter person, but your intro made me love winter just a little more. Loved your book recs, too.

You should totally check out «The Good Sheperd» by Gunnar Gunnarsson. An Icelandic classic from the 1930s about a shepherd who helps stranded sheep in the snowy mountains, a task nobody else in his community cares to do. Bleak and cold, set in December, but also warm and hopeful.

I miss snow at Christmas…only got to experience it once but it was special. Here in Australia we are about to go through summer. Last year it was a stinker (a week over days over 40C between Christmas and New Year). Calcipher meowing in the background.

You know, I always always conflate Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening with The Road not Taken. Anyway, I do so enjoy that image, where the horse stops to give his mane, and the attached tiny bells a shake. I hear the jingle and see the trail of the sled and hooves. The only other Frost line that hits me on a gut level is the one wherein he describes seeing in the aquarium the "fast fish". Thx Emmie, I hope you're enjoying your life because sometimes I worry you're a bit of a workaholic.

Gah too many of these piqued my interest!! Just put Icefields, Enchanted Sonata and Christmas at Island Hotel on order. Thanks much, and I am most excited to have some cosy books to read this January/February! Thanks much for sharing!

I've probably commented this before in a previous year but I'm living vicariously through your winter videos & vlogs. I live in California but I grew up in Michigan and miss the snow sooo much!! the change of seasons overall, but Christmastime and Winter is not the same without the snow! ❄❄❄
The Nutcracker is also one of my favorite things. The music, the ballet, the Barbie movie!! I recently got the Hoffmann and Dumas stories and plan on reading them this month! (okay why is there no nutcracker emoji?!) Awww, I need to pick up the Moomin books. The show is adorable, sweet, and cozy!
That light switch could be connected to one of the outlets in the room, btw.

Prefect cozy winter recs! I have been looking for people to talk more about the Enchanted Sonata more, as it definitely deserves more hype!
Also, if you like the allure of a Russian winter and charismas vibes, then I recommend the movie Silver Skates. It's not a book, but regardless it's so good and fits perfectly with the whole coziness aesthetic!

Oh, how I miss Christmas in winter. I live in the summer hemisphere now and Christmas in the summer just feels so wrong. I know I’m going to have find ways to make the most of it, but I just find myself pining for the cold & cosy season ❄️

Emma, there's two Christmas traditions for me: watch A Charlie Brown Christmas and The Nutcracker (book, ballet,...). I love The Enchanted Sonata too, one of the best recs you gave me! Your list is amazing! 💖✨🎄
