Lance got to meet Levar at the Picard Season 3 premiere and apparently told him how big a fan he was of Burton's work. I can't think of a more fitting tribute.
In the 3 actual main campaigns they've played (Vox Machina, Mighty Nein, Bell's Hells), some of the guest stars that have played with them include: Deborah Ann Woll, Khary Payton, Will Friedle, Jon Heder, Joe Manganiello, Mica Burton (Levar Burton's daughter), and Abubakar Salim. That doesn't include the specials and one-shots they have done with people like Stephen Colbert, Vin Diesel, Phil Lamarr, and Matthew Lillard. In one of the earlier episodes of this season of the animated show, Lou Diamond Phillips and Mark Strong made appearances as well.
Lmao it's worth watching the entire 400 hour Vox Machina campaign just to see Joe Manganiello's legendary move in the final episode. The D&D company included it/him in an official game release
In the campaign the whole party was there to kill Ripley. Scanlan trapped her, and then they all prepared an action so that everyone got the kill and it was brutally satisfying.
14:22 Without a doubt, that was their best kiss this season. Out in the open so they can't take it back, while in Keyleth's hometown of Zephrah, and it left Vax speechless. She had to leave to recognize that she needed them, just as they needed her, and she needed that time to reflect and cool her head.
The only, ONLY, issue I ever had with the way they killed Ripley was that in the campaign, it was a group kill. And it was pretty amazing and gruesome, look it up sometime. It's usually down to whoever got the killing blow, but it was a group kill to avenge Percy.
Shoutout to Cree Summer. She was absolutely DELIGHTFUL in bringing the Diseased Deceiver to life. Both her and Marisha Ray really are hitting it out of the park with Keyleth and Raishan's deadly rivalry, it's the biggest highlight of the season for me. It's been built up since Season 1's second episode, and now we're here, especially with how it got even more personal since Raishan has a vendetta against the Ashari (in this adaptation, at least). It even earned Summer a nomination for "Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance - Television" for the NAACP Image Awards. And 311 happens to be my favorite of the season too.
The vendetta was in the campaign, and Keyleth knew about it from the beginning. It was why she hated Raishan, the destruction of Pyrah was where it became personal. Her defiance of the Ashari was around offering to actually remove her disease. Raishan hated the Ashari so much and committed so much to becoming a dracolitch Keyleth's offer didn't even tempt her it just gave her the leaver to betray Vox Machina.
@@vampdan She first found out about Raishan’s involvement in Episode 47, but didn’t truly begin to interact with the dragon until the cliffhanger ending of Episode 69. And boy, was the following episode’s confrontation quite a scene to behold. Also, unlike in the adaptation, Raishan wasn’t cursed by the Ashari, but a druidic sect that worshipped the Wildmother. And it was with the leader’s last breath that she cursed the dragon. Pyrah was merely collateral damage to Raishan, but to Keyleth it was very personal. Which is what made the final confrontation great, as it showed Kiki tempering her rage and not letting herself get baited, even offering Raishan to stand trial. A pity she declined.
@@vampdanRaishan had no personal hatred of the Ashari in the campaign, they didnt curse her. And next episode she talks about them betraying her kind and how she seeks vengence against them all, new details made for the show. We might get more information on all that next season, when they meet with the Headmaster Uvenda again.
"I want an arrow through her heart and another in her mouth as she screams." In the campaign, all of Vox Machina got to tear Ripley asunder, but here, this felt like a pretty solid adaptation.
My internal head Canon is that when Vax says "I know something you don't." The thing he is referring to is "I know how long my sister can hold her breath." O_o
Funny you should mention writing in your own character. I literally have a D&D character that I pseudo play along with while I watch the tabletop game. Finding ways to see yourself in the story is a foundational pillar of the draw to TTRPGs.
If you guys are looking for a good anime to watch may i recommend Black Clover….cant wait for season 1 of the Mighty Nien (the second series from Critical Role) later this year on Prime
Walk away? If Keyleth had been absorbed by the world, you would have walked away? I call BS. You both know this show has you by the shorthairs. No matter what it's put you through, you would be back to watch the end. Because you know this show is THAT GOOD.

The Thordak overtones provided by Lavar Burton were at the request of Lance's widow. He responded with, "it would b my honor."❤

Yeah and the guy Mark Strong voices I FUCKING HATE.

12:58 You want “died worse”? Look up the campaign version of the kill.
Came here to say this. What. A. Scene.
7:19 love the subtle,”excuse me?”
12:15 always enjoy your passion lol
Great episode. Looking forward to your reaction to the finale
In the campaign the whole party was there to kill Ripley. Scanlan trapped her, and then they all prepared an action so that everyone got the kill and it was brutally satisfying.
Back in season 1, Orthax told Percy, "I gave you the means for revenge, and you give me souls to feast upon."
If you go back to one of the episodes before Percy gets shot Ripley actually says the soul of anyone killed by it gets trapped in the gun.

Keyleth's got such a good dad.
You guys have to watch the table scene when they end Ripley
"I want an arrow straight through her heart, and one in her mouth as she screams."
It's VERY different though, they all kill her right after she kills Percy.
oh absolutely, the original kill would be exactly what these guys want
Yeah they tear her to shreds! I was looking forward to it in the show but what they did still works

Alright CW villain 😂🤣

I love this show so much
With the way you two just HATE the villains here, I really hope they'll get to animate C3. You'll be going f***ing ballistic XDDD
Hell, wait till Mighty Nein. FUCK TRENT.
