The first time I heard them was the soundtrack to Vanilla Sky with Tom Cruise
Music is there, ready to be new whenever each of us arrive at it. Though I'm not so solipsistic as to think I'm in the first or last of anything in particular.
I found them about 15 years ago through similar way, they scored a lot of the soundtrack to Vanilla Sky and it just blew me away. I was a fan from that day forward

I haven’t listened to this in many years and I have no idea why. It used to be the soundtrack to my life when my life was vastly different from how it is now.

@@ramilabdulin8415 good question! Relationships, breakups, and loss. Changed in jobs and moving to new places. Good choices, bad choices, and all the repercussions. Joy, tragedy, happiness, trauma. I think I was a lot happier when this album came out so I didn’t get the same feeling that I do now when I listen to it. Back then I found Takk peaceful, ethereal and beautiful…and listening to it now it’s still those things, but I also hear sadness and pain.

I remember how this video used to scare me when I was 8. Can somebody tell me what is this video about? What's the meaning and what it has to do with the lyrics? (I don't even know in which language is it)
It's about a life journey. He is under the watchful eyes of his mother. But as he plunges into the deep waters of the adulthood he is pursued by a shadowy predatory octopus/squid being that represents fear and the dangers of the world. The "sea wanderer" was too innocent to guess it (the black octopus) was there beneath. Although he is adept and strong enough to escape the grasp of this creature, still fleeing in fear he must hide from it in seaweed. He emerges from hiding but it is waiting for him, looming above. This time he is ensnared in seaweed tangled around his foot where the octopus being had previously grabbed him. He drowns. The creature did not harm him, but actually his fear of it. Those that love and protect him pull him back out of the depths. Notice how the diver doesn't surface. A kind of baptism in fear. Even if the "sea wanderer" has died, those who loved him found and rescued him. He was not ready for what he encountered. It's strongly suggested he is revived by that love when he is cradled in her arms of protection.
The lyrics are in a special language Sigur Ros invented.
