we rarely used to get new engines in 150s and below, just re-tuning and aesthetic changes. Hell unicorn and most of the hero bikes still have the 20 year old engine i think. It's nice to see some change in the market. Also, decrease the mic sensitivity a little, and normalize it in post-production if necessary.
Yamaha is insane !!! An FI version with less power while everybody is expecting a much powerful 250cc variant ??? The looks are also not as stunning as the older version.... That is really stupid !!!
Seems like Yamaha is on path to become like every other manufacturer. Give more mileage, less power and ultimately boring. We respected Yamaha for being the only manufacturer to REV the heart. Now, its just plain boring like Hero Honda and Honda. KTM is the way to go.
most of the time people wont use the full power engine... cutting short one or two bhp's wont make much difference but increasing 3KMpl;or more ... sounds fantastic... cause most of the people... dont buy the good products because they just give little less kmpl
the old fz looks much more muscular than what i see here....might be different in person but still that beefy tank seems missing plus why is yamaha adding shitty plastic stuff in it?? that silencer looks so overdone.... plz yamaha keep the fz soul alive :'(

idk if its only me, but i liked the FZ-16 because of its simple yet muscular look and i fell like its only getting more gimmicky update after update. It may look more modern but i see that the initial theme of the FZ is totally ditched now.
Exactly man... I loved Fz for its plain no non-sense macho look and those beefed up rear tyres Only downside was it was underpowered. Now yamaha just stepped in, added more plastic, Underpowered further more and swapped the tyres with a hard compound one.

he said they increased bottom end and broadened the mid-range though.. on the street, it may actually be "faster" in the curves in the hands of a good rider that knows what to do with the powerband. The Maximum HP output numbers are deceptive. If "max hp" only happens in a narrow band on the tach, then you cant access it anyway.. usually better to spread the HP out over a wider band in the Tach so its easier to access at the throttle.. I bet if you were to jump on this bike and the old bike and ride them both, chances are you would say that this one is faster.

Vidur Pandit ha ha yeah man, its a 150cc... not much power is possible with a tiny displacement like that. The piston is size of a coin. But lets look at "power" more closely. The peak HP of a bike is often quoted by the manufacturers but you have to look at the dyno results to actually see the powerband. Most of the time your peak HP is only happening on a tiny spot on the tach.. you either don't reach that spot or you PASS that spot constantly, so that "peak Horsepower" number usually doesn't mean shit. But if you spread that power out into a wider band, you can keep that needle on the tach inside the best part of the powerband.. if it costs you 3 peak hp, to get a wider powerband then its well worth it. Because you can never really ride inside that tiny "peak" anyway.. see what Im saying?
Just a headsup ***** incase you decide to review this 2.0, please do a side by side comparo or time the performance with the older bike just to satisfy so many whining kids about the loss of 1hp.
Both would return the same fuel economy as they have the same engine. But as far as looks are concerned, why not check them out in flesh at the dealership?
